  • I Do Not Love It
For positioning my 11” LED light panel for tabletop photography, this stand/arm/boom seems able to place the light just about anywhere I want it, and hold it quite securely. However, it requires a deliberative process that can be less than intuitive, and more than a bit fussy. Controls consist of two ‘geared’ “knee-joints” and one “wrist joint,” adjustable only in 10-degree increments, that are locked with a screw knob. In addition, there are two 360-degree, smoothly rotating joints that are locked with a twisting collar. Twisting the camera or light on the mounting screw completes the range of adjustment that will need to be utilized for any setup. This is a lot of different motions and locking adjusters to keep sorted out. And it is easy to get disoriented with all the possible directions of movement. For the rotating collar-locks, “left to loosen and right to tighten” will be reversed depending on whether the column is pointing up or down. And swinging the arm to the other side reverses the locking screw direction, since the screw is now facing away from you. I found myself having to think about all these controls each time, instead of a more fluid and instinctive workflow. Also be aware that the ‘geared’ joints might ONLY APPEAR to be adequately tightened, if not centered precisely in their 10-degree 'notch.' This is especially true when a load is pulling down on them. They can then come loose if the arm is moved, as when tightening another adjuster. I have found it necessary to move each joint back-and-forth over its 10 degree ‘notch’ WHILE tightening, in order to be sure it is indeed clamped securely. In addition, the locking knob will loosen ITSELF with movement of the joint. You may loosen it a half turn, but after some positioning adjustment you might need to tighten it a full turn or more, adding unpredictability to the process. And if you have had to loosen more than one joint to attain your positioning, you will need to support the entire setup with one hand while locking each joint, so as not to lose your desired position. Also, while in use, I would often leave the base collar slightly loosened so that the arm could swing for fine adjustments. If you do this, BE SURE to tighten it securely BEFORE un-clamping the base to store the unit. When I forgot to do this, the heavy metal base unexpectedly fell free onto an unprotected surface. There should be a safety mechanism that allows swinging, without the clamp falling off, IMO. SUGGESTION TO NEEWER: A simple flip-lock mechanism for each joint (like is common on tripods) and/or directional LOCK/UNLOCK arrows clearly printed on the rotating collars would make this mounting arm 1000% easier to use. Bicycle wheel quick-release mechanisms might suggest a solution. CONCLUSION: I have come to expect high-quality, well designed products from the Neewer brand. This mount is also very well made, but I DON'T love the design, and think it could be much improved. I gave it Four-Stars because it appears well made, and WILL actually do what is says, and hold significant weight firmly positioned. But I am not sure it will find a permanent place in my home studio for the reasons mentioned. ... show more

  • Very versatile articulating stand
NEEWER is known for manufacturing great photography / video accessories at accessible prices. I have about a dozen of their products and they did not disappoint. Although the product I received was dented and scratched, I do not believe it affected its performance. I did not test its max load capacity, 11lb/5kg when bent and up to 22lb/10kg, but it bid support my SLR camera and light assembly easily. Clamps have a solid grip to prevent vibrations. I did observe a discrepancy regarding the advertised arm diameter (see image). Recommend this product. Hope you find this review helpful. ... show more

  • Arguably the best stand Neewer has ever made
I own possibly every light or webcam type of stand they make and this thing is VERY well made! Not only is it made out of an aircraft type aluminum which feels thick and sturdy but the tolerances, tightness and locking ability surpasses all the rest of their designs. This thing is STURDY! With a sort of rosette feeling lockability on each and every hinging piece, it does not move when tightened. This stand packs up small if needed and is so neat and clean, I really am impressed with this thing and don't take any issue with it. The only possible issue that might not be an issue at all is that the base tightens super tight but doesn't have an actual locking feel of a rosette that all the other joints have. But on inspection of that piece it truly tightens quite rigidly. The 1/4 inch fastener at the top allows for many configurations, cameras or lighting. I can't say more good things about this stand, it's impressive right off the bat and the materials used are premium. They have another desk top type stand for similar use, but I would choose this one over it 100% even though the other one is good as well, this one is far superior. ... show more

  • Sturdy and versatile
My home studio/office is small, and I often have to get creative with the placement of things. This stand has made it much easier to record some of my videos and to capture certain kinds of photographs. It is sturdy and easily adjustable. Neewer often has some great products and more affordable prices, and this one really seems to hit the mark. My only real gripe is that it won't clamp on to my desk well, but that is really more the fault of my desk's unusual design (glass top with a metal pole that runs along the perimeter). ... show more

  • Well made and versatile 'do it all' stand
Don't let the name fool you--this stand does a lot more than hold webcams. It can do that, of course, and do it very well but it can also do so much more. You get more adapters than you'll know what to do with meaning that it can accommodate any type of equipment you throw at it. Cameras, lights, microphones, projectors, smartphones--whatever. I have one clamped onto my desk at home and my office. Just this week I've used it for a video meeting, recording a YouTube video, recording some audio with a microphone, lighting some camera shots and even used the overhead capability. When not in use, it folds down and is out of your way. Just a versatile and highly functional piece of equipment. Highly recommended!! ... show more

  • This is good for WebCam and phones
This is good for WebCam. I'm not sure if I wouldn't use it on my Sony a7 IV. It's sturdy enough to where you can get a top down view when you do product unboxing. I would even attach my phone to this and feel safe.
