Like others have said, the shutter button is a little clicky, but that’s not necessarily a complaint. It does exactly what it’s supposed to. The buttons work perfectly and it holds 2 batteries. Definitely a good buy over the Canon grip.

This Neewer battery grip for Canon 5D MKIV isn't bad at all. I had to do a bit of finessing the first time I put my camera battery compartment door in the relevant slot and the buttons aren't quite as seamlessly responsive as those on the camera but not bad enough to keep from using it. Great for extending battery life without needing to change as quickly. Especially since the 5D MKIV kind of eats batteries. Other than the initial issue with the battery compartment door it was easy to attach and seemed secure, no problems with it loosening during use. Doesn't add much weight. A useful tool that I don't use every time but happy to have it available when I need it.

I have purchased many Neewer products over the years, from speedlights to backdrop holders to ring lights. As an enthusiast photographer who sometimes does professional work, I have been happy with the value of these items. I have many cameras, but the one I do most of my professional work is a Canon 5D IV. It has been my workhorse camera for years. In the past, I used a Nikon D3S, which had a built-in battery grip, and I do miss that functionality on the 5D. This unit solves that problem. It is constructed well, and (most importantly) it contains many control surfaces oriented for shooting portraits. The grip holds two batteries extending the already enormous shooting capacity of the 5D. Lastly, using the grip gives the 5D IV a pro look, adding more authority when shooting professionally.

This is a very solid alternative to Canon's grip at a very reasonable price. Construction and fitment is spot on and all controls work as expected. The multi-controller and main dial don't operate quite as smoothly as those on the camera but they're good enough and the ability to effectively double battery life (with two batteries installed) is worth the price of admission. I'd give it five stars if the controls mentioned above operated as smoothly as those on the camera.
