  • Amazing! just Amazing
the one I had on my rig I had to set up the rig then place the baseplate and tighten it to the camera then I had to connect the tripod plate and tighten that. basically I had to do a ton of setting up with the small rig base plate I have. this base plate is a set and forget it set it. I simply love this thing. not only does it cost your set up in half you can just leave it there and just snap you camera back in if you was doing something else with it. it is fancy looking too. I love the smooth look it has. it's sturdy lightweight, compact. and supper easy to use. ... show more

  • If your putting together a camera rig this one is very solid and sturdy.
If your putting together a camera rig this one is very solid and sturdy. I wish I would have read the ad better because I thought it came with the two rods. No big deal. I'm happy with it. Not much else to say that isn't already listed in their ad.

  • An extremely rugged, feature rich base plate., with 15mm clamps and an Arca mount.
I’ve found Neewer equipment, generally, to be high quality and this 15mm LWS Baseplate is no exception. It is machined from anodized aluminum and has several useful features. A primary purpose of the baseplate is to support 15mm rods. Each of the two 15mm channels has a locking screw which will hold the rods very securely. The locking screw can be quickly loosened and tightened with winged handles. There’s both an Arca type QR plate and an Arca type base. The plate has both ¼-20 and 3/8 inch screws which can be removed as needed. The Arca QR plate requires both a lever to be opened and a button to be pushed, so your camera will be secure until you want to remove it. On the bottom, where the base attaches to the tripod are three ¼-20 and a 3/8 inch tripod socket, so there’s ample latitude for mounting to various tripods or stabilizers. The vendor doesn’t provide any information on maximum payload and there are no instructions in the box. Based on my own observations and handling, I’d say the maximum payload is at least 10 pounds. Overall, this is a sturdy piece of gear. It’s small, but important. Jerry ... show more

  • Very very nice.
The media could not be loaded. It's compatible with my SmallRig V-Mount articulating plate, and for this I couldn't be happier. This will allow me to have a traditional rail setup that lives on a tripod, and then be able to pop it off and onto the V-Mount plate for run and gun with minimal down time. Love it! ... show more

  • Solidly built with some hits and misses
The top of the head contains two machine screws in a slot for attaching a camera or other device. One screw is 1/4” and the other 3/8”. There is a slotted head on both (for standard screwdriver, coin, etc.) Some other equipment I have includes a d-ring in the screw head so no separate tool is needed to attach and would have been nice here. However, a small “tool” can be slid out from the head that can be used to tighten the screw. The second machine screw gets in way if not needed. If the larger screw is removed, there is a chance the small screw can fall out of the slot when not attached to equipment. Alternately, the small “tool” can be removed from the head and the head of the unused screw can be to be slipped into the space vacated by the tool, but that leaves you with no place to store the small tool. You are faced with possibly losing track of one of the screws or losing track of the small tool. The bottom of the baseplate includes four threaded holes – three for 1/4” and one for 3/8” for attaching the baseplate to a tripod. There is a lock-lever to remove the head from the rail-holder base. The lock is handier to use than some bolt-style locks I’ve used on other equipment. In addition to a lock-lever, the rail-holder base includes an anti-off pin, a very nice feature to prevent the head from sliding off even when the lock is disengaged. However, resist the temptation to remove the two star-headed machine screws to see if the top portion of the base can be attached in other ways. There is a very small spring that holds the anti-off pin up and you will be spending some time trying to get the spring back in place when re-attaching the top of the baseplate. (That is if you don’t lose the spring.) This is a solidly constructed baseplate. I’m looking to use it with separately purchased 15mm rods to support a long lens. I expect this setup to work well, but the combination of this baseplate, plus the rods, plus the lens support does get a bit pricey. ... show more
