  • Swiss Army Knife Of Light Stands - BOOM Time
I also own its slightly smaller little bro stand, and it's pretty great as well. I can boom my Godox vl200 & medium soft box with ease using the included sandbag as a counterweight. I also use this as a audio boom stand, it pairs nicely with my sennheiser mke600 and zoom h4n pro. That it's an "all in one" unit makes things just that much simpler on set or in studio. The stand works nicely with my godox ad200 and ad400 pro studio strobes, again using the included sandbag as a counterweight. The stand is very sturdy, a medium-heavy duty affair if that makes sense, for my godox vl300 I would use something a bit more heavy duty, this stand can pull it off but @ that weight and extended out sags ever so slightly. All in all a great buy for a working professional photographer and film maker, two thumbs up. ... show more

  • Big beast for a good price!
Okay, while it's not strong and "bullet-proof" like a C-Stand, this stand is big in a good way and has a nice long reach! If your finances don't allow for purchase of a hard-core stand, this one will work very, very well. Just don't abuse it; don't over-tighten things and use the counter-weight sandbag as applicable so you don't have to crank down hard on some of the knobs. That said, it's a really nice stand that can be tall, big, and long as needed. Having even one of these is so handy, and having two of them will give you so much help in your productions. Also, it collapses down well to a decent compact size! ... show more

  • Nice and Sturdy
So far so good. It seem very sturdy and well built. Maybe not truly heavy duty but it is way stronger than the light stands I had before. It extends extremely high - I don't think I will ever be needing that much height - ever. The boom arm is stored inside the second section and must be raised out before extending outwards. Some persons may miss this so be sure to look where the locking arm is located. The knobs on the stand are made mostly out of plastic and need to be tightened really firmly to hold in place. I was hoping they would have been a little bit stronger but they do seem to hold up - for now. I am yet to fully test this out in the field under heavy weight so I will provide an update at a later time. Overall great buy! ... show more

  • Almost as good as the Cowboy Studio M-1, but not quite....
I bought the Cowboy Studio M-1 stand some time back and really like it. When it came time to buy a second one, I found this one, it seemed like pretty much the same thing but at a cheaper price. When it arrived, the packaging was damaged and the box was open, but the stand was undamaged and the sandbag was still there, so no harm done. Side by side with the M-1, there are differences, and the Neewer stand seems slightly less robust, hence only 4 stars. The screws are all tight though, and it's solid enough to carry a studio strobe and modifier easily. I would buy it again if given the choice. ... show more

  • Terrible Quality
We received a completely crushed unit...couldn't put it together due to damages. Also appeared to have been heavily used because there were lots of zip ties holding parts together.

  • A light stand on steroids
This is my first boom stand, so maybe they're all this way, but this stand is considerably bigger than your run of the mill light stand. Everything is thicker and stronger, and the base of the stand opens wider, than a basic cheap light stand, even though the basic overall design remains the same. Apart from the overall extra beefiness of this stand the main difference between this and regular light stand is obviously the boom arm and the tilting mechanism that makes it happen. The tilting mechanism is also the only area I could complain about on this otherwise well designed stand. It's a smooth piece of metal and you have to really crank down the handle on to get it to securely lock into place. I think it would be better, and still give you 98% of control over the angle if it had teeth the help catch and lock it at points, which would save you from having to really crank down on the handle. On a positive note the handle for this is metal, so it's not as likely to break as a plastic one would in dealing with the same stresses. Overall I'm very happy with this stand and it was an excellent price. It's great that boom arm stores inside the stand if you want, and you can use it as a regular super sturdy stand too, so it's very versatile. In fact, if I don't start upgrading to actual c-stands I'll probably buy more of these just to get the extra functionality of them. If anything happens after I've been using the stand for awhile I'll report back, but so far so good. ... show more

  • A seemingly good product... NOT
The appearance of the product is good, looks and feels to be very good quality and works good as long as you don’t accidentally pull on the pole without loosening the clip. Now it won’t hold at all, I’ve only had it a couple months and now it’s pretty much worthless to me cause I can’t raise anything higher then the base height and even at the bottom it won’t stay still. Very upsetting. I won’t be buying anymore of these ... show more

  • Solid value.
I love everything about this stand except how the boom arm locks into angle. It only tightens enough to hold its own weight. It will not Stay without a counter weight for anything. Still would buy again
