The NEEWER Z3R flash is a huge upgrade over the prior Z2 and Z2PRO units and all past Z series units. The new touch screen interface and OLED color display overcome several of the distinctions that could have been made between the NEEWER Z1 & 2 units and the GODOX V1 and V100 series. Aside from the 100 Ws output, comparable to the same rating for the GODOX V100, the new interface finally overcomes the somewhat downgraded, non touch non color lesser offering vibe of the Z2 flashes. Performance has been fantastic. The body of the Z3 is slightly taller than the prior Z2. It's not a lightweight unit. But it mounted and balanced well on my Nikon Z7ii. Aside from the new control screen the placement of other buttons like flash test, on/off, modelling lamp and so forth is much improved. The prior modelling lamp setup on the Z2, that had one single modelling lamp on the body and a 2nd modelling lamp in the flash head, has been replaced by two modelling lamps on the body. The relationship between GODOX and NEEWER flashes and who makes them has always been a bit of a black box. A lot like wondering who makes various store brand products. It's been thought by some that the NEEWER units come from the same factory as GODOX units and are just a more affordable, downgraded version of the GODOX offerings, sort of like Chevy vs Cadillac. Same car body from same company but one always just a bit a nicer. The Z3R finally makes this top end NEEWER flash unit fully competitive with the similar model V100 model from GODOX. ... show more

Excellent flash to use with my Nikon Z 6II. Everything works perfectly and fit and finish are great, except the tilt and swivel head. There are no locks or indentations to keep in at one position. So the head when tilted up can fall back down easily especially with accessories added to the head. That’s my only gripe, wasn’t for that I’d gave it 5 stars. ... show more

I spent years photographing weddings, birthdays, and special events. I tend to rely on brands that have consistently delivered reliability and performance. Still, I enjoy testing new gear to see whether it can enhance my workflow, and this NEEWER 100Ws round head flash immediately caught my attention. After using it during a portrait session and a small indoor event, I found the build quality surprisingly solid. The round head design feels premium, the body has a sturdy weight without being too heavy, and the touchscreen is responsive with a clean layout. The materials feel durable enough for professional use, and the magnetic modifier mount is a thoughtful touch that makes switching accessories quick and smooth. Functionally, it offers a strong combination of power and versatility. The 100Ws output is impressive for its size, and the 1/8000s HSS performed consistently when shooting wide open outdoors. The TTL accuracy was reliable, and switching to manual mode was seamless. The two modeling lamps are bright enough to preview lighting direction, and the integration with Godox’s 2.4G system worked without any issues. Compared to a similar round head flash I have used before, this one recycles slightly faster, and the touchscreen interface feels more modern. The only thing I noticed is that the menu may take a moment to get used to if you are accustomed to button-only flashes, but once familiar, it becomes intuitive. In terms of durability, the flash handled a full day of shooting without overheating or misfiring. The 3000mAh battery lasted longer than expected, giving me close to the advertised number of full power pops. The locking mechanism feels secure, and the head rotation is smooth without feeling loose. I would still avoid dropping it since the round head design houses sensitive components, but for regular professional use, it feels dependable. Other things worth noting are that the fan can be slightly audible in very quiet environments, though not enough to be distracting. The touchscreen may show fingerprints easily, but it wipes clean without effort. Inside the box, I found the flash, the rechargeable battery, the charger, and the user instructions. Overall, I find this flash a strong contender for photographers who want a compact yet powerful lighting option that integrates well with existing systems. This item arrived neatly enclosed in a product box with everything required to begin using it with your camera immediately. I am relatively new to photography, so this replaced a previous flash that doesn’t even have a brand name on it, so to say this is a step up is a fairly mild observation. This item allows for greater versatility in where you take photos and adds terrific value to the process. The first feature that I was particularly impressed by is the touch screen, which makes this device far easier to use than other options and makes it feel comparable to more expensive flashes that I have handled. Additionally, it has a cooling system, which is something I didn’t even realize I needed until I discovered how handy it is to have. The fan doesn’t add any significant sound, and it allows the flash to work at full power for far longer than would otherwise be the case. Furthermore, I appreciate how long the flash lasts before I have to worry about the battery. It produces light that is more than enough for most indoor spaces and provides more light for outdoor situations than I had anticipated. So far, I have found that my photos are dramatically better with this flash than with the one I was using in the past, and I would absolutely love to order more NEEWER photography products in the future. ... show more

I love NEEWER camera gear, and this flash may be my new favorite product from them. I was super impressed with the build quality of this flash and just how feature-packed it is. I had never owned a touchscreen flash before, and I didn't even know they existed until now, but I'm hooked. I can easy change the settings to fit the scene in just a few taps. The brightness of this flash is also impressive, and the images I've captured using it come out clear, crisp, and perfectly illuminated. I especially like the model light feature of this flash, and I use it all the time. It was easy as pie to pair to my camera, and the connectivity is excellent. It's super reliable, and I haven't had a single connection issue so far. Battery life has also been fantastic, and I love that I can easily swap in a new battery when needed.
