Before retiring and living on fixed income, I consistently bought furnishings that were well-designed, modern, in a quality level I describe as "4 out of 5 - 5 being top quality. With good care, my furnishings could last and stay beautiful as long as I needed them - not top quality/price (value) but above-average. My tastes have not changed, but my budget sure has. Finding Nathan James products has been a joy for me. I purchased the Lucy table after tons of research on Amazon and elsewhere. When it arrived, we assembled it without trouble (my husband was able to do it himself - as usual defying the directions that advise two people at certain steps of assembly.) However, there was a noticeable fault on the pedestal base that was there when we unboxed. I thought I could tolerate it, but after it was assembled, I found it bothered me, and I could not tolerate the blemish. I contacted customer support assuming they would send metal paint or a new base. Their response was some of the most phenomenal customer service I've ever experienced. They replaced the table. And they now have a delighted customer for life. I will go to them first to match future furnishing needs they happen to supply. The table itself is solid and looks terrific in the nook where we have it set up with two Cherner chairs. We understand that the table top is not marble and we treat it accordingly. This table is perfectly-sized for a small apartment or in-kitchen tea/coffee area. I was afraid the look of the 'marble' top would be too cheap-looking, but, although it is a laminate/sticker coating, it has a nice sheen and does not look inexpensive at all. The top has the 'marble-looking' coating, and the underside is white coated mdf. I'd recommend using place mats for hot/too cold meals. The metal base and stand are very hefty and have withstood my daily use for breakfast. 4 stars for ease of assembly only because the base is very heavy, otherwise it was simple to assemble. ... show more

It's a nice-looking table. We plan to use it as a cafe table next to our fireplace nook. The base is very stable and heavy (heavier than the faux marble top). The brass was covered with a thin protective film which was easy to peel off and in our opinion speaks to the quality of the piece overall. However, the table did arrive with a minor dent in the brass accent pillar where the base attaches, but it's not noticeable unless you're looking for it. The top is laminate with no seams which gives the appearance of a solid marble top...without the weight. Ours arrived with the floor protectors attached plus several extra pads. The wool ones allow it to slide across our wood floors without damaging the floors. All-in-all well worth it for the money and it has the clean, modern, look we wanted. ... show more

This table is a beautiful and functional breakfast table for us. The base is very heavy and it does not feel like it would ever tip over. The top looks like marble but doesn't feel like it, but that's okay. It's easy to wipe down. Might be prone to some scratching but we will see as time goes on.. Assembly is pretty easy and Nathan James customer service is on point. When I found a defect on the base of the brand new table they offered to send a whole new table or send a refund at my request. I didn't know what to do with a whole extra table, so I basically got this nearly perfect one for free. I'd get another piece from Nathan James simply because they are so willing to back up their products and keep customers happy. ... show more

Yes, this table top isn't real marble, and yes it is easy to tell that when next to it. But for the price, this is a fantastic table! The paper coating on the top is thick and nice, not too blurry, and doesn't have annoying seams showing. It is small, comfortably seating 2-3, 4 would fit but be squished in. Perfect for a little dinning/breakfast nook table, which is what we needed. The base is SUPER sturdy and heavy, and ours had no flaws or scratches in the gold base section. I would absolutely buy this table again for the same price, and if you're concerned with budgeting would highly recommend it as a top option! Don't set anything hot or cold down without a placemat/coaster/hot pad and don't cut stuff directly on the table top and it should be good for years of use. ... show more

My daughter bought this table 2 years ago and it’s gorgeous! This table garners so many compliments. When a family member needed a small table for a different apartment, we knew the exact table for the job. This time we purchased the last one which was noted it was a box open. Amazon said it was quality checked via a sticker on the item. The table top was bashed in, the base was scraped in numerous area, there was no base and no screws. How could they sell this item?!?!
