BLUF: Functionality is great but camera frequently disconnects, making the system totally useless and customer service response to issues is dreadfully slow. Pros: The camera system is fantastic when it works. The image is clear and the audio comes through nicely. There isn’t nearly as much of a delay as I thought there would be with the WiFi-based system either. The app is well-designed and easy to use. The notification system for sounds and movement also works well. Cons: The system only works about 70% of the time. The camera frequently struggles to connect when opening the app or is extremely delayed in connecting. This obviously causes concern that the notification system isn’t working correctly when not actively monitoring the app. There is also a common problem where the camera totally disconnects from the app and you can’t reconnect it. This has been an issue for months but Nanit has failed to offer an actual solution. We lost use of the camera for over a month because it would not connect. Also, the base and camera do not properly connect, making the camera fall off the base easily. This system is extremely expensive. Based on the issues I’ve had and the price, I would not recommend this product. If Nanit’s customer service was more responsive it would probably change my opinion. However, I submitted multiple customer service requests over the disconnection issues and it took weeks for a response. The response I received was generic and instructed me to try techniques I had already tried (and explained that I had tried in my service request). Again, the camera system works great, when it works. The main issue is I feel uncomfortable depending on the system when it comes to the safety of my child. ... show more

We have had so many issues with OTHER monitors and since we have installed the Nanit we have had ZERO issues, our home is usually has an issue with the distance between the master and children's bedrooms but not with Nanit! Nanit products are tricky and finicky. They are not easy or quick to configure, which is particularly bothersome if you travel a lot and take it with you, which we do. Every time there is a network change, there's trouble. It will sometimes throw a fit and decide to not work, or be very blurry for a few days. And of course, there's the fact that not only you pay a lot for the camera, but they also bombard you with messages to get you to pay for additional services and subscriptions. The built-in white noise options are not very pleasant, and when you try to speak through it the voice comes in creepy and really scares our daughter, so that's two features we don't use. Despite all this, we love our camera and don't imagine living without it (until we tried a similar one that probably works better, but... why bother) We even gave one as a present to friends who just gave birth, so I guess we nevertheless think very highly of this product. ... show more

This is a very expensive product, and overall I know this is because it is high quality (in terms of the images), and works pretty well. I have major problems with this product, especially since it is so pricey and sold to a population (new parents) who are likely sleep deprived and very concerned for their babies’ safety. I don’t even discourage you purchasing it, just want to give a balanced picture as a parent who bought this. There are a lot of comparable products on the market, and of the two I’ve personally tried, this camera is sleeker looking, has great features (additional cost, and this is part of the title of my review), and the image is so crisp and clear. I bought and used this camera system when my babies were older, and therefore didn’t need to use the breathing monitor, or growth measuring sheets, so I can’t speak for those accessories, but if they work that is so cool. I like that it is a downloadable app, and I can nervously peer at my babies while out on a date and the baby sitter is there. I also like that there are pop up notifications while it is turned on, which you can disable if you don’t want to see every time your baby stirs or cries out. I also like that you can speak through the mic to your baby (integrated into the stand), and play white noises for them at the volume of your choosing. The app is definitely not perfect, and I have minor annoyances with it. For example, a lot of the features I’ve mentioned are not intuitively featured, and you will have to hunt around to, for example, turn the camera off (seems important), or turn on the soothing noises. I could live with that, as well as the imperfect event reporting, if that were the only issue. Well that and the fact that the camera pops off the stand just a little too easily, meaning that your feed will be interrupted and you can’t fix it until morning unless you are stealthier than me at entering a darkened room to set the camera on those flimsy pins in the stand. Furthermore, the camera itself has these four red lights that show up pretty obviously when the camera is on, which no doubt aids in the crisp nighttime picture but if you’re worried about creating a fully dark environment for your baby, could be an issue. My main complaint is with all the upselling this system does. If, unlike me, you bought this system at full price (rather than on Prime Day), you’re already paying a few hundred dollars. Once you’re working the system, it becomes clear to you that they are steering you towards the more expensive stands, which (surprise!), are the only way you can unlock some of the special features you maybe expected this particular setup to perform. No joke, for about a week, I had access to a few days of time elapse video of the whole night of sleep, plus little snippets of the times they woke throughout the night, all of which I could download or view until they expired. Then, a few app updates later, and these snippets disappeared from my events tab, or if I clicked on them didn’t work, or I was urged to upgrade my system to premium or buy an expensive accessory stand, all at additional cost. Don’t even get me started on the difficulties of using this with my twins, from registering a name (can only use one name, slightly irritating), to getting the system to see that there is movement from one when the other is sleeping. I’m sure Nanit’s solution to this would be BUY ANOTHER CAMERA, which, if I had that kind of money, they would definitely have their own rooms and cribs, and I probably wouldn’t even need this camera. I’m telling you, if you want to make $1 million, think of every item a parent needs and design it for multiples. I recognize this issue won’t affect most parents, but it’s definitely a consideration for me, ha. Anyway, buy this system if these defects don’t bother you, just know that the eye-popping up-front cost will immediately pale behind all the other ways you’ll be nickel-and-dimed. And not even right away but because some upgrade decides the features you once enjoyed are no longer available for the cost you already paid. ... show more
