Using this sander to resurface a 12yo pressure treated lumber built elevated deck. By and large, it works well, once I got some more abrasive sandpaper. There's a couple of drawbacks, though: On decking that is 5 1/2 inches wide and even slightly cupped, it's hard to get the centers of the boards. Going with the grain, then against helps with that but it's twice the work. There are still areas that will have to be sanded again with a smaller unit. The bag is almost useless, I've been using it for hours and there's nothing in the bag. Yes, the holes in the sandpaper are lined up. Periodically, the sander kicks out a quantity of sanding dust on the surface being sanded. In addition, the hose kinks very easily where it comes out of the handle. Mine is almost collapsed and I intent to contact the seller about it. The ON/OFF switch and power cord are poorly located. The cord is always in your way and you'll need an extension for anything over about 6 feet. The ON/OFF switch is right where your hand goes when using while sanding a floor. I must have accidentally hit it 50 times in the last 3 days - very annoying. I have yet to find a length for the unit that is comfortable when in use. I can't imagine doing walls with this - it isn't really heavy but would feel that way after an hour or so. Finally, when you do order other sandpaper, be aware that there are different hole counts and patterns in 9 inch disks. The disk will fit by the vacuum holes won't line up. I just bought a half inch hole punch to make new holes if needed. I also cut (4) 7/16 dowel pieces to easily align the disk with the velcro mount. ... show more

Made sanding our walls much easier, faster and with very low dust when attached to a shop vac. Not attempted to use its own dust bag, we just attached to the shop vac and it worked really well. Walls are nice and smooth. The light is very good.

Yes, it's heavy. You need to sand and take breaks. It doesn't wear you out any more than hand sanding (I prefer this sander hands down). In fact, it gets the job done A LOT faster and better. The 9" disc makes smoother, more even sands (vs digging holes in your work). The finished product is great. The only negative: the write up says the dust extraction on this tool is amazing- no...far from it. It collects about 5-10% of the dust. It's so dusty, you can't see what you are sanding. The light is amazing. But, with all of the dust, it's worse than driving through the fog. I saw a review where a guy used this setup and got no dust on him (he must have only sanded 5 seconds...bc you'll look like a snowman after a few minutes). The fix: if you leave the bag off and hook it up to a shop vac (using 2 circuit breakers), the shop vac will pick up 95-98% of the dust. With a shop vac, this sander gets 5 stars. In fact, I'd recommend buying the sander without the bag. Dust extraction, with a vac, far outweighs hand sanding...worth the investment. I've only used the grid/mesh sandpaper. Regular sandpaper might be horrible on the dust (even with the vac - not sure). I'd recommended buying cheap 9" disc sandpaper and punching your own holes in it (it'll be near impossible to buy sandpaper where the holes match the sander). ... show more

Great too use on walls but heavy for ceiling. Needs a strap across to help hold. Bag for dust is not compatible to hold over shoulder just put that on ground and drag it. But it does reduce dust. Slow is still to fast. The led light is bright and very helpful when sanding. Not bad on vibration on hands and arms. Cord gets in way off and in and the power in button is in bad spot. Keep hitting it with hand since you hold in that area. Overall saving time on walls but ceiling is just too heavy to hold and move around even for one room job. ... show more
