Holy Potato Peels, this was SO GOOD! Good Girl Mia is the sister of Jake from book one. After listening to that audiobook, I knew I needed her story. And what a story it was. A road trip romance? Okay! An opposites attract? Yes, please!! A very well-written and emotional and captivating story with a swoon-worthy hero? Oh my gahd, give it to me now, YES! With each turn of the page, this story got better and better. My love grew stronger and stronger. You know those romances where the hero eventually does something wrong or does something he shouldn’t, something that totally screws up the relationship with the heroine? Yeah...no...that did not happen with Derek. He just kept getting more and more lovable as the story progressed. The ways he showed Mia he cares, the ways he helped her step out of her shell, the patience he showed her, the support he gave...my goodness, Derek was everything! He captured my heart from the very moment he entered the story. A rockstar with a huge heart. I was smitten! He’s understanding and protective and so very caring and loving and OMGosh, I could go on and on. Trust me when I say he’s a BBF you’ll fall for immediately. Romantic? Yes. Passionate. Most definitely. Sexy AF who will do anything for his girl? OMFG YESSSSS. LJ’s words are poetic, pure magic. The music references, the playlist, all absolutely perfect. Especially since I love Ed Sheeran! How Would You Feel? Oh em gee. The feels!! This story was full of them, but when Derek sang that song for Mia? Emotional doesn’t even begin to describe how I felt. It gave me chills and brought some tears and I just wanted to hug someone. I absolutely adored this story and its characters... every single word. From beginning to end, I was captivated. It’s full of ooey-gooey goodness and gave me all the warm fuzzies. Just like book one, this one has so much heart, so much passion, and all the heart-grabbing, heart-squeezing goodness that will make you never want to put this down. That, my reader friends, is the magic of LJ Evans’ words. The narrator for the audiobook was perfect. And guess what? I’ll be diving right into book 3!!

Mia acts more like she's an immature sixteen than a college graduate and grown woman. She needs to grow up because I found it a challenge to like her. Derek on the other hand was damaged in his own way, but was a very interesting and well-developed character. You have to admire him for his patience with this childish female. Between them they attempt to have a normal life (which isn't easy), and find their own HEA.

Anyone who listens to music on a level where every milestone in there life can be associated with a song, as I do, will love LJ Evans. This series takes you through a song writing artists journey of their musical talent. I'm in awe how now when I listen to Ed Sheeran, I will see it through the eyes of this author. So this is a continuation of the first book My Life as a Country Song, which by the way wrecked me. Thanks Taylor Swift. We pick up, where Mia Philip's, who is Jake's younger sister had been trying to appease everyone around her. She had taken over at a car dealership, for her father who is about to retire. She is the rock that everyone leans on. Her mom, Cam, Jake's girlfriend and her "sister from another mother". Cam, is helping with a fundraiser for diabetes awareness and the family has decided to sell Jake's Camero on the silent auction. Derek Waters, is a musician, playing at the fundraiser and when he wins the Camero, he is so drawn to Mia it is like a magnet and to add to it, he has a way of freakishly understanding her in away know one else has ever done. He invites her to go on a three week road trip, from Tennessee to California, to help take the Camero back home. Her parents convince her to go and so the adventure begins with seplunking, and concert venues all the way to California. As they navigate through this trip they open themselves up to each other as Ed Sheeran songs play in the background. 🎵 Another great story in an even more awesome series. I'm looking forward to Seth's sorry. 😊

Mia has never been able to forgive herself for not being able to help her brother however she also hasn’t told anyone about her feelings as she doesn’t want to burden her family. She has finished college and returned home to manage the family car dealership and be the perfect daughter. Derek is a rock star who has just signed a contract. He presents an outgoing happy façade on the outside, but on the inside he has his own demons. From the moment that he met Mia at the dealership he was enchanted. They have an instant connection and he is determined that she go on tour with them. This is a story of self discovery, healing and new beginnings as with each other they are allowed to be who they are, demons and all. Full of emotion and angst this story also has a lighter side that will bring a smile to your face. I can’t get enough of this series and I didn’t want Mia and Derek’s story to end.

I did not read the first in this series, but I'm assuming bades in the 10% of this book and 30% of the first half that it had to do with Cam... maybe her getting over Jake to be with Blake or just Jake.... either way their Epic and dead love takes up too much of this book. Derick is the best part of this book. He's constantly called the NN, book boyfriend, and he really is in a totally realistic way. He helps Mia grown into herself which is important. But he surprises you with his own growth. If you can look past Mia's constant and extremely unrealistic view of love, self-worth and guilt it's a good journey. The second part is great and while there are still issues they don't drag the story, they enhance it. The last chapter dragons you know where it's going. But suppersweet. The band guys are awesome.

This was just as touchingly written as the first novel ♡ I absolutely loved that Ms. Evans took us back to these amazing characters and gave us another incredible tale. I literally cried for the first little bit as we were reminded of the heartbreaking pieces of book one. Mia and Derek are just as breathtaking, just as broken and just as made for each other as Jake and Cami ♡♡♡ I loved this story as yet again my heart was gladdened by all the mess and heartache that love can heal. These two beautiful beings needed each other just as much as the air that they breathed! My heart was most certainly heavily invested in learning what would happen! Would Mia and Derek have a happy ending? Would either have to give up their dreams or their cherished family members? Ms. Evans resolved these matters in a breathtakingly surprising way! I would literally read anything that this author wrote, she's that talented and her words speak to my heart and soul ♡♡♡♡

Ms. Evans has the wonderful ability to draw you into the story from the very first page. Good Girl Mia is certain she knows her path in life but the second Derek walks onto the scene both Mia and the reader know that there are so many more, exciting things in store. The relationship that develops between Mia and Derek is sweet, genuine, heartwarming and infused with just the right amount of heat so that the slow-burn builds in a way that you know is definitely going to pay off. Without giving too much away, reading this book was like going on a wonderful adventure. There's glitz and glam and exciting new experiences, a few secrets, and just enough drama to keep the story moving along. Another fantastic book from Ms. Evans. Highly recommend.
