  • So much potential
My primary reason for wanting the Gamestation Go was the screen size. I had the original Atari VGS, so I'm a bit older, and the 3-4" screen games just don't cut it. This is a good size for a portable. And, of course, you can always use the HDMI out to connect to a TV. Quite a few games built-in. Of course, no one will be totally happy with the selection. At this point, why not just release everything? Every ROM you can run would probably take up less than 1GB. It's a great toy, and the controls are very well done. Playing Tempest with a rotary controller is just amazing. With the rotary controller and the track-ball, makes me wish they would have included another multi-directional controller on the other side for dual-stick shooters. But, of course then you could say "why not a whole set of programmable buttons for games like Defender", etc. It's just so good, you wish you could do everything with it. Of course, you can fill a micro SD card with ROM's to use on it. But you have to choose the internal storage or card at boot, and you can't switch back/forth without powering it off, at least as far as I can tell. It is buggy, though. I won't get into the details, there are a lot of videos out there that show specific issues like screen ratios and lack of sound. But it is upgradable, here's hoping they take the bug reports seriously and provide new software to fix them. ... show more

  • No joystick but d-pad and roller and turning knob ok :)
A lot of gaming back from the 70's and 80's for me :) I think for the money its great in 2026. Very fun to play. out of everything I have tested its only one draw back is the fact you have to use the d-pad instead of a joystick like with my OG Atari 2600. But with other handhelds this does have HDMI and it has a big kick stand to play on any tv. Its large so a case might come in handy. kind of heavy but nothing to un-comfy to use. Feels well built and has live updates when needed. ... show more

  • Great retro-gaming system
This has been great so far. I bought the GameStation Pro a few years ago, so I had to get this one as well. It's loaded with a lot of great games and you can add more using a micro SD card with game roms. It supports MAME 2003 arcade games, Nintendo, all Atari systems, Sega and Turbo Grafx-16. It also has built in wifi for easy firmware updates. I've been having a lot of fun with this. Very good, quality screen (I also bought a screen protector for it, separately). It also includes an HDMI cable if you want to plug this into a TV and play on the big screen. ... show more

  • So much Fun! So Glad I didn’t hesitate to ordered this!
I’m a 64 year old Granny that is tickle with nostalgia over playing Centipede again! I’ve played many gaming units over the years….in the Arcade, Pong, Atari, Nintendo, PlayStation XBox, Nintendo Switch. This Gamestation Go feeds the memories & good times. The wealth of fun to play games already loaded on this unit is really fantastic. The controls are fairy easy to pick-up and I really appreciate the sensitivity I found using them in play. I’m a left hander, and I can say I felt super comfortable with how everything is set-up. I Love all the added Pinball Arcade games…sweet response on the Bumpers! Playing Breakout games, the Paddle controller was spot on. The Track ball with Centipede was fabulous! Better than I could have hoped. I’ve ordered a controller to be able to play in 2-player mode with my Hubby and kids, Ha!!! Kids….those thirty-something-adults will be home for thanksgiving to challenge me. I feel this gaming system is a solid unit and with all the games it offers, well worth the money. I like the size, super portable with a big display. Super enjoyment when playing it on a my 55 inch TV. ... show more

  • Highly flawed but beautiful device
This is a very nice system, beautifully constructed. I am enjoying it but it comes with some inexcusable flaws that make it impossible to recommend. Anyone buying this device is likely doing so in order to play certain Atari classics with appropriate controls (spinner, trak-ball) in order to have as high fidelity classic gaming experience on the couch. Unfortunately while the trak-ball feels great you can’t play vertically oriented games like Centipede full screen. There is no vertical mode. The spinner works nicely for Breakout (also a vertical game) but is far too stiff and slow to play Tempest (another vertical title) properly. You might think you would enjoy playing Centipede for the 5200, which was a great horizontal adaptation, in-full on the system’s lovely screen but even though the 5200 system had a trak-ball controller and the port was designed for it—the trak-ball on the Gamestation Go won’t work for this game. Big fan of this company, they make high quality products, but wait for a 2.0 version that fixes these devastating flaws. ... show more

  • Good, and after first firmware update, even better
The vector games like Tempest, Major Havoc, Asteroids Deluxe and Black Widow are much better after the first firmware update (1.10) - released about 5 days ago. Updating firmware is seamless once you connect to your wifi network. Even the complaints about a little backlight bleed was fixed in firmware update. Another thing that is great, you can hook up controllers to the back of the system, via usb-c. I have the Gamestation Pro and those controllers plug right in and are backwards compatible! Playing all games (including atari 7800) games with that joystick was great. Also, the Atari Recharged games via HDMI out onto my 65" TV is incredible! I'll be honest, those are the highlights that caused me to keep the system because the $179 price was a bit steep to me at first. I like the way it feels in my hand - comfortable and also the back has a fold out stand to prop it up while you have it hooked to a TV and are playing it with a controller plugged in. And the final highlight is the SD card expansion. I loaded Super Mario Bros (NES) onto it and that played great on the D-Pad which is how all the NES games were controlled. So...why only 4 stars instead of 5? The price... $179 is still a little bit steep for this. $129 would be about right. In closing, it's pretty darn good. And, if you have a Gamestation Pro, this is a huge upgrade to that. You can play this on the go and it has a very nice trackball controller. ... show more
