  • Based in UK but really hard to find at RRP - Fantastic console and great fun!
I have looking to get this for ages, but Atari had it out of stock, and when I checked with Amazon (at the time it was over £230. Amazon US have it at $140 and with US-GBP currency, it ended up costing me £153 which also included VAT and charges (no Amazon Prime for me as I not paying prime twice!) it was still cheaper than the £230 which was the cost at the time (and even then would take days). This was delivered in 2-3 days and came via UPS and delivered the normal Amazon UK deliver. The console is fabulous and details below: The console comes with paddle knob (top), cross D-Pad (middle), track ball (bottom), and the usual ABXY buttons and number keys. Fully Wi-Fi, and it also allows you to plug in USB-A, microSD card, and HDMI, the console has a rechargeable built in battery. It comes with a heavy duty very long USB-A to USB-C (power), HDMI cable and USB Mains Adapter. It comes with 200 Games pre-installed from all the Atari range plus pinball ( Balls of Steel), Pac-Man, Jaleco and Piko. I have put a 16gb MicroSD card in and when formatted and installed with the correct directory structure, you can put your own games on this and when the console is booted up, it detects the MicroSD and prompts to ask if you want to load the SD or the console menu. The folders default from the "zip" file, will also allow other console games but it depends if the controller will work with those other games. All in all its a fabulous console and the Gamestation Gamepad will also allow remote play once paired with main console. ... show more

  • A Favorite with Mfr support, control info and Tips on each game
A LOT of fun, I play this more often than my Logitech G Cloud. Well built, from a local company here in Southern California. Officially licensed by Atari. Some omissions: Pitfall, Frogger, Space Invaders. It has many built in emulators if you have the original cartridge of course. No install needed or available other than factory updates. Over 200 games, plus ....... If you are loving the classics, check this out and come visit us on the forums. It even has Pong Video Olympics. Paddle games and of course Centipede like 3-4 different versions and a lot of Missle command including the Arcade version. Who will really enjoy it? Boomers, we grew up back in those days, we really remember what the Atari was, if you find yourself missing that, this is it, it's got the Paddle, the trackball and regular controller. Who may not like it? If Playstation 4 was your thing and you like the long games that take 10 minutes to load. I'd recommend staying with that. ... show more

  • So much potential
My primary reason for wanting the Gamestation Go was the screen size. I had the original Atari VGS, so I'm a bit older, and the 3-4" screen games just don't cut it. This is a good size for a portable. And, of course, you can always use the HDMI out to connect to a TV. Quite a few games built-in. Of course, no one will be totally happy with the selection. At this point, why not just release everything? Every ROM you can run would probably take up less than 1GB. It's a great toy, and the controls are very well done. Playing Tempest with a rotary controller is just amazing. With the rotary controller and the track-ball, makes me wish they would have included another multi-directional controller on the other side for dual-stick shooters. But, of course then you could say "why not a whole set of programmable buttons for games like Defender", etc. It's just so good, you wish you could do everything with it. Of course, you can fill a micro SD card with ROM's to use on it. But you have to choose the internal storage or card at boot, and you can't switch back/forth without powering it off, at least as far as I can tell. It is buggy, though. I won't get into the details, there are a lot of videos out there that show specific issues like screen ratios and lack of sound. But it is upgradable, here's hoping they take the bug reports seriously and provide new software to fix them. ... show more

  • The Good, The Better, and The Dandy The Good, The Better, and The Dandy
I have other retro-handhelds like Retroflag's GPi and HMT's Super Pocket. And I love those for their portability. But the Gamestation Go is another fantastic device I had to have. The Good I was worried it might be heavy given its size, but it is actually pretty light and easy to hold. Ergonomics are very good. I wasn't sure if I'd like the layout since I'm used to the GPi and Super Pocket, but it's quite nice. The Better Screen size is of course a huge selling point here. Again, my other handhelds are great and serve their niche perfectly (extreme portability), but I really love having the large screen on this thing. I bought the "ivoler 4-Pack Tempered Glass Screen Protector Designed for Nintendo Switch OLED." Both the Switch OLED and the Gamestation Go have 7" screens, so the screen protector will cover it. You have to center it yourself, since the screen is set into a larger flat panel - there's no bezel edges to lock it in place. But it sticks well and should stay in place just fine. I had to lift the edges a little once or twice to get the air bubbles out, but then it was perfect. The Dandy So, you can expand the number (and type) of games this thing will play. I will leave it to you to watch some YouTubes on this. It is not hard, using the SD card slot (be sure to use exFAT formatting for the card). There is a simple way to do it (using the built-in system) and a slightly more technically involved way to do it. Just Google how to add games to Gamestation... This was actually the thing that pushed me into the purchase. I was stoked that I could do more than just what is shown on the box. Summary Lightweight for its size, great ergonomics, beautiful display, lots of great games onboard + expandability options. I expect to get a lot of enjoyment out of this device. ... show more

  • A bit more premium and it would be THE one! Looks great, works well, but.....
In general it's a cool thing and I like it overall as a fan of retro gaming. BUT: 1. The screen surface is not scratch resistant at all and very cheap! Even if you treat it with well with a glasses cleaning cloth and be very sensitive, the surface will show up tiny scratches after cleaning it. Take an example on New Wave Toys 1/6 scale screens. They can be cleaned very well and have a much more premium screen surface. But in general the MyArcade screens are made very cheap unfortunately. There is no real awareness on quality, but profit. So the only solution is to put a screen protector on it from the first moment. For just a few dollars more, the producer could have solved that problem! Now, it is to the disappointment for so many fans! 2. The Atari Gamestation Go is only providing a limited selection of the Recharged Games and they can not be added later. That's sad, as in general the Recharged Games are awesome. ... show more

  • Good, and after first firmware update, even better Good, and after first firmware update, even better
The vector games like Tempest, Major Havoc, Asteroids Deluxe and Black Widow are much better after the first firmware update (1.10) - released about 5 days ago. Updating firmware is seamless once you connect to your wifi network. Even the complaints about a little backlight bleed was fixed in firmware update. Another thing that is great, you can hook up controllers to the back of the system, via usb-c. I have the Gamestation Pro and those controllers plug right in and are backwards compatible! Playing all games (including atari 7800) games with that joystick was great. Also, the Atari Recharged games via HDMI out onto my 65" TV is incredible! I'll be honest, those are the highlights that caused me to keep the system because the $179 price was a bit steep to me at first. I like the way it feels in my hand - comfortable and also the back has a fold out stand to prop it up while you have it hooked to a TV and are playing it with a controller plugged in. And the final highlight is the SD card expansion. I loaded Super Mario Bros (NES) onto it and that played great on the D-Pad which is how all the NES games were controlled. So...why only 4 stars instead of 5? The price... $179 is still a little bit steep for this. $129 would be about right. In closing, it's pretty darn good. And, if you have a Gamestation Pro, this is a huge upgrade to that. You can play this on the go and it has a very nice trackball controller. ... show more

  • So much Fun! So Glad I didn’t hesitate to ordered this!
I’m a 64 year old Granny that is tickle with nostalgia over playing Centipede again! I’ve played many gaming units over the years….in the Arcade, Pong, Atari, Nintendo, PlayStation XBox, Nintendo Switch. This Gamestation Go feeds the memories & good times. The wealth of fun to play games already loaded on this unit is really fantastic. The controls are fairy easy to pick-up and I really appreciate the sensitivity I found using them in play. I’m a left hander, and I can say I felt super comfortable with how everything is set-up. I Love all the added Pinball Arcade games…sweet response on the Bumpers! Playing Breakout games, the Paddle controller was spot on. The Track ball with Centipede was fabulous! Better than I could have hoped. I’ve ordered a controller to be able to play in 2-player mode with my Hubby and kids, Ha!!! Kids….those thirty-something-adults will be home for thanksgiving to challenge me. I feel this gaming system is a solid unit and with all the games it offers, well worth the money. I like the size, super portable with a big display. Super enjoyment when playing it on a my 55 inch TV. ... show more

  • Can't Put It Down Can't Put It Down
I was initially unimpressed with the Gamestation Go and was prepared to give it a 3 Star review at best. But after spending the past few months with the device, and the fact that during those months I can't seem to put it down at every free moment, it would seem it deserves 5 Stars instead. Since my opinion improved over time, I'll list the CONS first: CONS: Most of the included games suck. I understand this is a matter of opinion, but when I think back to my days playing the Atari 2600, most of the games I enjoyed were Activision and Imagic, none of which are included on the GSG. And what are included are missing fundamental 2600 ports. No Defender? No Ms Pac-Man? No SPACE INVADERS? Seriously?? We could have done without 3D Tic Tac Toe and Basic Math for some of these other epic games. It doesn't even have the infamous E.T. And the other games and systems are ... meh. Piko and Jaleco are a bunch of games you never heard of and there's a reason for that. Arcade Pac-Man included but not the superior Ms. I've no interest in Balls of Steel. The Atari Recharged games look and sound kinda cool but are ultimately boring and some of the games freeze or lag or glitch out, returning to main menu. All I found myself playing was Tempest and Yars Revenge. The controls aren't great. The D pad has some issues on certain games when going up and down. But adding a thumbstick that I bought off an engineer on Etsy helped. The spinner is acceptable but not great. You can't really get a free spin technique on Tempest like at the arcade. A large, weighted spinner from the same Etsy guy helps but my Tempest game but is still far from what I'm used to. The track ball is so sensitive and glitchy it's basically useless. Much easier using the D Pad on games like Missile Command. I'm hoping a firmware update addresses the sensitivity issue. The sound isn't great, but acceptable. I've played an Anbernic handheld that was half the size and half the price whose sound blew the GSG away. Most of the included game's sound are underwhelming and the bass could use a little more "oomph." The games from my micro sd card have better sound than the included games, some much louder than others. Though, I do enjoy the systems retro synth soundtrack. The build on the system feels very sturdy. But it's a shame it doesn't have a glass screen. I did buy a tempered glass screen protector off Amazon, because I imagine the screen would become scratched very quickly. PROS: Micro SD card. The lack of great games doesn't matter because with a little bit of searching you can find ROMs of any games you like from 2600 up to Super Nintendo. I now have about every Atari 2600, 5400, 7800 game ever made including some recent home brews. And it's been fun discovering games I never knew existed. The only issue is that some of the button configurations on later systems like SNES and Genesis don't match up properly and I can't find the options to customize them or save states. The Intellivision games controls are all messed up. I'm hoping these external storage issues are addressed in a new firmware updates. It seems like the one and only firmware update deleted the Playstation emulators, which is a shame. Hopefully they work that back in. But maybe this things software can't handle it. Mostly it's the hardware, the build quality and the lights that just sort of reach out at me every minute and keeps my attention off whatever TV show I'm trying to watch. The device is solid and feels good in your hands. The lights that show what buttons and controllers to use is a neat concept. I LOVE the large screen size. The battery life is great. People complain about the price but I find it a good value, especially after loading up the SD Card. Ultimately, it has more CONs than PROs, but that doesn't keep me from playing it daily whenever I have a free moment. The whole world of retro handhelds is still new to me, and I imagine if I explored new devices this one would probably pale in comparison; though, those I have explored seems incredibly difficult to set up for an old guy like me. For now this fills the void of gaming nostalgia. ... show more
