Features

  • This is 4P Short 15.5mm GX24Q Base, NOT FOR 2P;NOT FOR DIY!!! NEED REWIRING/BYPASS/ REMOVE the ballast, the Ballast has a black and white wire on the input side, two red and two blue output side. To bypass this ballast, cut all the Input and output wires, and connect 2 Red to Black,2 Blue to White wire.
  • THE BALLAST IN YOUR FIXTURE MUST BE REMOVED OR BYPASSED FOR THESE ADAPTERS TO FUNCTION PROPERLY. CONSULT AN ELECTRICIAN IF YOU ARE UNSURE. DO NOT OPERATE A LED BULB WITH A BALLAST IN THE FIXTURE, DOING SO WILL LIKELY DAMAGE THE BULB.
  • All pin-based CFL, like GX24Q G24 GX23 G23 are lamp-ballast separated, but all screw-in E26 E27 are lamp-ballast integrated. ballast is a must to start a high voltage(600V-1500V 1ms) to light up the CFL, but it is dangerous for LED Lamp. Because LED Lamp are built with LEDs and Driver which is transforming the 100-240V AC to DC for LEDs. So the LED Driver input should be 100V-240V or 85-265V, so 600-1500V will be too high, and easily destroy the led lamp.
  • There are LED bulbs with Driver compatible with the ballast, which you may find work without bypass ballast. BUT no LED Driver can be compatible with all ballast.Ballast is there consuming power, cause high temperature which will damage LED Bulb, So the Professional doing is bypass it. All pin-based CFL is ballast-lamp separated, E26/E27 bulbs are self-ballast.

  • Bright Light Instantly
I got so tired of the old CFL light in our water closet toilet (small room with its own light/fan in the ceiling). You would turn on the light switch and it would be dim and dreary in the WC area. It took at least 90 seconds for maximum brightness to be achieved. Bypassing the ballast and using this adapter allowed me to install a much brighter LED Edison-socket bulb. Now it is instantly bright in the area. Just what I had hoped. Working great. REMEMBER, you have to bypass the ballast to get this to work properly! ... show more

  • Works great, but don't listen to the seller
This is a great product for any of us who has had a ballast blow out and who doesn't want to find the correct (expensive) ballast and replace it, and who never wants to use a ballast again. First of all to those who are really clueless YOU HAVE TO BYPASS YOUR BALLAST. To install you need to be able to watch YouTube videos on electrical safety and how to cut wires and how to fasten wires together. More succinctly, you need to understand what a ballast is. STOP GIVING THIS PRODUCT BAD RATINGS JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN'T UNDERSTAND SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS. You will need to buy a sharpie, an assortment of wire nuts, and some electrical cord. You might need a screwdriver and a pair of pliers. The seller was horrible: The untrained and incurious person who answered my email question gave me an answer that would have resulted in me wiring the hot and the neutral wires directly together and shorting out. So the instructions work o.k. if you have one ballast connected to one lamp. If, however, you have a ballast that is connected to two lamps, you need to wire it a different way. I really hate that the seller hired someone who has a Dunning-Kruger situation that interfered with her ability to help me figure out the correct way to install these. Other than that, they work great. ... show more

  • Very useful to convert recessed lighting.
This product is exactly what I was looking for. I should have bought it a long time ago. I did the rewiring myself to bypass the ballast. It was easy even though I could not see the ballast as it was hidden behind the junction box. Make sure you get the right connection in the bypass: float 1 red and one blue wire from the socket, use wire nuts or tape at the ends; connect the other red wire to the black AC feeder wire and the other blue wire to the white AC feeder wire. You may see the other 2 red wires from the ballast, connect these together, use nuts or tape the ends. Connect the 2 blue wires from the ballast, use nuts or tape it. Plug the adapter. Done. Will save me a lot of money as the fluorescent bulb gets busted at least twice a year x 6 lights. Now I use LED bulbs with the adapters. ... show more

  • Works well to adapt standard base bulbs
Product works exactly as advertised. It fits the socket well and is made well. Wiring to bypass the ballast is fairly easy and this allows you to avoid having to replace the whole fixture or rewire the receptacle itself. The unavoidable downside is that this adds an inch or inch and a half to the length of the bulb and depending on your fixture and your bulb it may cause the bulb to stick out of the fixture can a bit. (100 watt equivalent LED is already longer than the 60 watt equivalent ones so it is more of an issue to be aware of if you will be using those.) Anyway, that is unavoidable with this type of part and is just something to be aware of. I've got the first 4 oit of 23 done and will do the rest soon using these. ... show more

  • A heads up....
I will address the quality, durability, etc. in a later review. For now, contrary to what one subscriber wrote in, I can not find any approval stamp on these adapters. I purchased under the guise they were UL approved as someone wrote in. I do not see CE or ETL either. If this is if concern to you, please be advised. This doesn't mean they will not perform or serve the purpose but, given my use of them in a commercial environment, I would prefer some sort of approval. ... show more

  • Connectors work, but are a little crooked.
The socket in the plastic housing is crooked on most of them so when you plug you bulb into it, it will be crooked in the recessed can lighting. This should have been made with a more solid material and it should be tested for warping and alignment issues. Recommend finding someone who makes a better quality product. ... show more

  • They work as advertised and are a GREAT price and E-Simpo has great customer service
I have used dozens of these for CFL to LED conversions and have not had any issues at all. No failures, nothing. They work as advertised and are a GREAT price and E-Simpo has great customer service. You MUST remove the ballast though or else you WILL encounter electrical issues. The instructions are really clear and easy to follow. You literally can not make a mistake unless you are color-blind. The Red wires from the lamp socket connect to the Black wire (can sometimes be Red, but usually not) and the Blue wires from the socket connect to the Neutral wire. It isn't difficult even for a novice IF one follows the instructions. You have to be sure both of the Red and Blue wires (there are 2 each) are connected as directed since the lamp sockets uses 4 wires. Otherwise. it doesn't work. Very simple!!! ... show more

  • Some standard bulbs don't work
We tried multiple known good standard bulbs, only one kind of bulb works, we can't tell the different between the working bulbs and non-working bulbs, don't know why, be aware and take the risk.
