Dependable AND Dockable!

This case legitimately has it all! Mumba really took the time to figure out what their customers wanted in a case, because this thing is almost perfect! There are a few negatives about this case, and if I could I’d give this 4.5 starts instead of a full 5, but the cons don’t bother me enough to take off a full star. The pros definitely outweigh the cons! PROS: -Takes some wiggling, but it IS fully Dockable (using the OG Nintendo Dock) -There is a hole for the charging cords to fit through, so you don’t have to take it off to charge via cord -You can detach/switch out joy cons! -The case is thicc! It seems to be a tough, textured material that has (so far) withstood several drops and dog feet -The case has a really cool look to it as well, the design on the back is attractive to both guys and girls (I’ve received compliments from both), and the larger, textured handle grips feel 10x more comfortable than without them -Fits in my travel BIONIK Switch bag, no need to take it off on trips CONS: -Pass through hole isn’t big enough to house the bluetooth adapter from Genki (or most of the other brands), or likely most other adapters -Case is in the large side! meaning if you have a smaller/more simple day trip case where you’re not bringing cords and accessories, just the switch and a game or two, don’t expect to fit this case into it. I have the Hori aluminum Zelda hard case, and the Mumba will not fit. However it is lightweight and snaps onto the switch easily, so I throw it into my day bag and snap it on when I take out my switch. That might be a deterrent for some, but for me as long as it’s easy and fast, I still use it every day. -As stated earlier, it will dock in MY OG dock, but I’ve seen some reviews stating it doesn’t in theirs. I have the Switch V1, I’m not sure if there’s a difference in docks V1 vs V2, but there’s a small chance it won’t fit in yours. Also amazon has a great return policy. -Another thing with the dock, I have to really finagle the switch to get it to settle into the dock properly. I’ve went to play switch after a night of supposed charging, only to find out that I hadn’t seated it properly and it hadn’t been charging all night. This could be due to the fact that I also have a glass screen protector on the front, and between the thickness of the case + the thickness of the screen protector, it’s just a really really tight fit. But I’m not going to leave my screen bare, because I’m afraid the Switch wiggling will eventually scratch my screen. So if you’re like me and have all the protection, then be prepared to spend a minute or two to make sure the Switched is properly seared and charging.

Awesome Grip Case!
I love my new grip case! It looks very nice and is super lightweight, sturdy, and very ergonomic and comfortable for those longer handheld gaming sessions! Hugs the Switch nicely; not too lose or too tight. The charging port, cartridge slot, headphone jack, power & volume buttons are all still very easily accessible! The material is hard but with a very slightly soft feel, which makes it pretty easy to get on and off if need be. The fact that the joycons are able to be swapped out without taking the case off is an extra bonus! The cherry on top of it all is the fact that it DOES DOCK. I was skeptical at first due to a lot of the reviews claiming it's not actually dockable. Well, it is for me. Pics included! I do not have a screen protector, so I'm not sure if that will affect it docking as much as people say it will. YES, it is a bit tight. NO, it is not that bad. I don't feel like I'm going to damage anything by docking it with the case. It takes a slight push down in the dock, due to the very slight lip on the bottom of the case around the charging port. That's it. Just don't pretend you're the Hulk and you'll be ok lol. I mostly got this case for the handheld comfort, but the ability to dock is really awesome since I charge my Switch pretty much exclusively on the dock. The only thing this case doesn't have is quick access to the kickstand and SD card slot. For me, that's just fine. I barely ever play in tabletop mode, and when I do, I have a portable stand from Five Below that I use instead of the "kickstand" (if you can even call it that lol) on the Switch. Overall, it's a great case if you want something for extra comfort that is also able to be docked!!!!

Perfect case grip for the switch

I was looking for a case for my Switch, and among all the results, I found this one, which has worked perfectly for me. It’s made of sturdy material, protects the entire back of the Switch, and offers good grip; it’s also dock compatible, so there’s no need to remove it when you want to dock the console. Highly recommended if you want a quality case to protect your Switch.

Edit: Comfortable, but Very Tricky to dock in Basstop (at least with a glass screen protector)

Edit (09/25/2019): So it turns out you can dock it in the Basstop dock while using a glass screen protector! But it's very tricky. You can't go and slot it straight in; it gets caught on the screen protector. You've got to sort of slide the Switch into the dock from the corners of the dock, and once you've managed to squeeze it in, then you have to align the USB-C port very carefully to avoid wear on the port. And then apply some pressure- not a nerve-wracking amount once you've got it aligned, though, which is good. But you have to make sure it's enough that the video out is actually... outputting. I had a bit of trouble with that. Also the back is more of a light grey than clear, so if you have a light color Switch skin or shell exchange, bear that in mind. Overall the Skull & Co. docked much more easily, and was a bit more comfortable in hand. However the Mumba Blade has the nice transparent back, and you can remove the joycons while the main console is still in the case. In fact, it was even quite easy to remove the entire Switch from the Blade (it's easiest if you've removed the joycons first, but it's still fine if you haven't), whereas I had trouble removing it from the Skull & Co. without feeling like I was going to damage the connection between Switch and joycons. For these reasons, and the fact that I managed to figure out how to dock it, I'll be using the Mumba Blade case going forward. (Oh, also, if you need a case for it, the Skull & Co. Maxcarry Case does fit it quite well.) Original Review (09/21/2019): I have small hands, enough that the joycons never felt cramped, but keeping ahold of the Switch in portable mode when I'm in any position besides 'on my side in bed resting all the weight in one hand' could get pretty uncomfortable. So I wanted to get a gripcase. And since I've wanted to do a shell swap for awhile, I wanted one where I could still see the back of the console; because I like playing in docked mode, I needed one that was either very easy to remove, or one that was dockable. This seemed to fit the bill, so I wanted to give it a try. The case was easy to put on, and it's easy to pull off (advice: even though the instructions say you can remove the Switch with the joycons still attached, it becomes much easier if you remove them first). It's very comfortable without being too bulky- it doesn't make it any harder to reach any of the buttons (which I was a little concerned about, because my hands are just that small). Unfortunately, it just barely doesn't fit with the Basstop Switch dock mod. I think it would, if I didn't have a glass screen protector; as it is, it's just a hair too wide. I tried to check just the case docking without the Switch inside, and it /does/ fit, very snugly, so if there wasn't a thick screen protector getting in the way I'm pretty sure it would work. Still, it's a good case, and it can be removed easily enough that I'll probably just keep using it, and removing it when I want to dock it. Not ideal, but good enough. I also plan to test a Skull & Co. gripcase, and whether the Max Carry Case that comes with it will fit the Mumba Blade case properly (which I'd seen someone mention somewhere), so I'll probably update this review then.

EXCELLENT Product, 1 minor issue not worth docking a star

This product is exactly as described by so many best of lists! It was delivered amazingly fast, ordered at about 8 pm had it on my system by about 1 pm the next day. Snaps on easily and the material has a really nice feel, sturdy but doesn't seem like it will scratch or gouge your console. Has a "softer" plastic finish that almost feels like a thin rubber or silicon to me with the carbon fiber style areas on the back giving a little texture and grip. It seems like it would work with some thin skins if you have them installed but I can't say for sure, I would say yes though just my opinion. Joy-cons slip on and off perfectly and I actually prefer with the case on bc removing them before was kind of flimsy and awkward imo, now I have a stable handle and they just slide out. Slips into the dock easily and snugly, takes very minimal pressure to get docked, again imo with the case is a massive upgrade bc I feel like it docks more stable, especially noticable when switching games. Overall LOVE this product! Now to my little gripe and it's minor but significant, for all the protection and amazing design two things stood out to me: 1) The ergonomic grip design tapers off toward the top to allow easy access to the Joy-con and release button but this leaves the top half of the system to rest on the ZL/ZR button edges and the edge of the Joy-con itself whenever the system is set down, like I said minor but unprotected. 2) It doesn't come with any kind of screen protector, I know it doesn't say it does but just for all the protection you're obviously going for in purchasing this product, plus with this product specifically you're still going to be docking/undocking, why not just protect the screen?

Totally worth it! And buy the Mumba carrying case too!

Great product. This cover snaps on to the Switch and the grip and feel are comfortable. Without this cover I would sometimes dislodge the controllers during handheld mode which was annoying. This no longer happens because of this cover. The protection is not 100% but its better than nothing - The top bumpers could still be broken on a fall. It is truly dockable but it does need a slight push for it to dock. I don't mind it at all and its somewhat expected that you would have to do that. Also note that the controllers are removable while the cover is on. The vents in the back of the console are also still able to breathe and the games can still be swapped out. I have a screen protector on my Switch and I saw some reviews of other products that the screen protector would be affected by some covers (the may start to fray or peel). That is not the case with this cover. Truly satisfied and highly recommended. I also bought a carrying case too but researched which one to buy because I wanted to be able to use the carrying case without having to take off this protective cover. Most carrying cases are cut to ONLY fit the Switch w/out and covers. I bought the Mumba brand carrying case used for $14. I found that I have to store the console upside down in the Mumba case otherwise the bottom bumpers of the protective cover slightly interfere with the zipper of the case. The case has plenty of storage for extra controllers and/or wires and power supply and fits 20 games. Super happy with the combination of both purchases and definitely worth it. As a side note I'm a dad that plays with my 5 yr old and I now feel way better about the protection of this rather expensive handheld console that otherwise wasn't being protected at all.

Not dockable

Definitely not dockable it barely fits in the dock and won’t connect with the port in the bottom of the dock but I use the original switch only for handheld so it’s don’t use the dock to charge now but for a budget option it’s a pretty comfortable grip for the price

I was a little hesitant on buying one of these because my husband had one on his Nintendo switch, and I didn't like the way it felt in my hands. It was super bulky, And it didn't feel very sturdy. Not to mention, he could not fit his switch in the dock with his case on. However, I bought this anyways because I wanted to protect my switch. I noticed that it said you can still dock it with the case on, but I did not believe it one bit. I would like to inform all of you that it does in fact work. It's a little tough at first to get your switch in there with it in the case, but it is doable. After a few times of doing it, it becomes easier to do. However, something to keep in mind is that if you're playing your switch with it in the case, and in the dock, It can get very hot. So be cautious on that. I don't recommend putting it in the dock while it's in its case, specifically for heating reasons... But it is doable. It is rather easy to remove your switch from this case and to put it back on, so points for that. It feels amazing! I feel like I'm holding a very valuable item in my hands while it's in this case compared to my husband's case. It's very sturdy and does not feel like it's going to slip out of my hands. It's More on the slim side but still thick enough to protect your console. And it looks great! I bought a Pokemon bag for my switch, and my switch fits in there with this case on just fine. Where my husband's switch does not fit in his carrier with the case on. So definitely keep that in mind when you're buying a case for your switch. this is a good one and I recommend it to everybody.
