I purchased the Rocktol multi-tool for myself to leave in my backpack for those moments when it might come in handy. There are some competitors priced similarly for the exact same tool, but I chose Rocktol because it seemed like it might be a Japanese company because of the writing in the pictures in the product description? Who knows if the other guys are knock offs or Rocktol is just selling a mass produced product. I wanted something nicer than those $10 bargain tools, but also something that wouldn't break the bank if I lost the tool. I own a much more expensive Leatherman Surge that I can make comparisons with. They are actually similar in dimensions and weight. The Rocktol's finish is good on the exterior, but the interior parts are not as well polished as compared to the Leatherman. Not a fair comparison I know, and not a big deal at all. Actually, I can't say that my Leatherman is much better than the Rocktol after factoring in the price difference! Out of the box the first things I noticed were that the black trim had a number of scratches and in a couple of small areas the black color had come off. The knife blade had some dirt or grease or sediment of some sort stuck to it. And the entire tool was a little sticky from machine oil/grease? Not dealbreakers in any case. The pliers are spring loaded and automatically open which I like. I love how the bit holder is magnetic and will take standard sized 1/4 inch bits, unlike Leatherman which uses their expensive flat bits. You could carry and use any standard bit that you need. It is designed to accept double sided bits, so you'll need to use a pretty standard bit holder if you want to use your own short bits. With an adapter you could even use sockets. The rest of the tools are pretty standard. There are no scissors, but I guess the width of the bit holder takes up too much thickness. I also like the unlocking mechanism, but they could make the surface area larger so it would be easier to depress. Now for the other cons. For those of you who detest carrying around weight, this is not a light tool. Nor is it overly heavy in my opinion. All I can say is it weighs as it should considering how much steel is contained in the tool. For those looking for a lighter option, there is a competitor selling a version of this tool with titanium handles for barely any extra money. If I noticed sooner, I might have purchased that version. Once, my friends and I pooled together to buy our friend a titanium handle Leatherman. I have to admit, there was in fact a stark difference not only in weight, but in price as well. The file has a 6.5 cm ruler on the other side which I think is not very helpful. They should have at least included inches too. Instead, they should have put a ruler on what would be the outside handles of the pliers to allow for a double-sided file. They didn't because the "handles" aren't perfectly flat for better grip when using the pliers. I don't think it makes any difference at all because the curve is so slight anyway. Leatherman and other competitors manage to fit a 9 inch / 20+ cm ruler out of both handles which I think is pretty impressive. Last is the case - it is huge and beefy! There is approximately an extra 1/4 in. of depth for the tool to be bouncing around in. There is a tiny pocket to store the supplied bits. On the other hand, the extra room will allow you to store another row of 5-6 bits. In conclusion, given the very affordable price and overall quality of the Rocktol, I definitely recommend getting one for yourself. Leave one in your car. It would make a great stocking stuffer too.

The only reason I gave this 4 stars is because the middle tool is cast so the wire cutter portion is not sharp. For someone who uses wire cutters a lot like I do, that is a big deal. This is well-built, functional, nice looking and will last. Yes, it is heavy. If you wear it on a belt every day, switch sides every week or month so you even yourself out.

Very nice tool. It is great for the price, holds up as good as more expensive name brand multi tools. When put to the test it didn't bend or break and very comfortable to use. The interchangeable bits really make it more versatile then other brands.

This multitool is well made and feels sturdy in the hand. The lock feature works perfectly locking and unlocking with ease. The design of the pliers is better than most and allows you to grip without pain. The screwdriver bit acceptor is strong enough to use with sockets if you have them.

Rocktol is a very well built tool. I own one other version it's a little heavy for EDC at least for me so I tried this one I think it's like 7.8 oz. perfect for weight to function. There's a fine line between light weight and functional for what I use it for. I'm a mechanic so I use the Philips a lot, the knife and flat blade, I also use the scissors in the garden for pruning various plants mostly tomato plants it works good for that. The tools are easily accessible and smooth to deploy the tool is stiff to open for the pliers this should get better with time. Both my Rocktol's are very well built for the price.
