  • Great EDC without breaking the bank
I own a few Leatherman multi's and Gerbers too. Each has their purpose. I like this one in particular as my EDC for when I need a little of everything but not heavily. When I need someone more like a heavy workhorse, then I grab my Leatherman supertool 300. Many will claim this Gerber Suspension NXT is not solid. It is. It is just not meant for torquing down on the pliers with a death grip like you can with a Leatherman. But it will certainly do its job for daily obstacles in life. The Scissors are awesome. The file is short but more affective than many comparable multitools in this pricepoint. The awl is more wide but still useful and strong. Blister packs are a breeze to open with this EDC. The pliers are great for standard use of assembly or disassembly of hardware. The Philips driver is very handy. The fact that everything locks is a huge plus. The ruler is short but still very useful if you are crafty in making it work for longer measurements. The can't complain about the weight. It's ideal for an EDC but the compromise in weight is why it is not as stout as a high end leatherman. It's nothing to due with quality but all to do with staying in a pricepoint for a more lighter everyday useful multitool. If this set let's you down, then you are a candidate for a heavy duty, more expensive, multitool. Oterhwise, the Suspension NXT is a clear winner in my pocket and respective wallet. ... show more

  • Very handy tool
This tool is more than enough for me. I was absolutely not going to spend a ton of money on a Leatherman or other expensive tool when I knew full well I would never use it to its full capacity. It feels substantial, sturdy and well made. I chose this tool because it's not cheap or expensive, right in the middle in my opinion. It has pliers and that alone has saved me multiple times with crimping wire connectors, and removing splinters from my fingers. I'm not even a stereotypical rugged outdoors do everything kind of person, I live in the city and work in an office, but keeping this tool on me day to day has helped a lot so far. ... show more

  • Good for the cost.
I watched a video on this multi tool. Good quality, very versatile and saves money over the other brands does the same job. I would definitely recommend to purchase this.

  • Great tool for the money, plus a couple of downsides (but mostly it's good) Great tool for the money, plus a couple of downsides (but mostly it's good)
I have used this tool daily for 3 years and have mostly good things to say about it. First, the high-priority uses: Needle-nose pliers. I love the spring-action; very easy to use. Also, lots of little features in the plier teeth section you may not expect: about 2mm of flat grip right at the tip; I've used it to take out splinters from my hand and errant eyebrows (no joke!) Then further back the slim small toothed grip, then the large tooth-grip, and then the wire cutters. Honestly, the wire cutters are a huge feature; I cut some serious gauge stuff that I really should be using something bigger for. Finally, right at the fulcrum, a much-neglected 2mm of flat-to-concave gripping surgace which I've used for gripping and bending high-tensile fence wire and other very sturdy stuff...much to my surprise. Phillips head drive. I use this tons. I like that it locks in place (unlike a Swiss Army knife that'll close on your hand), plus you can cock the handle out for extra torque when twisting; just be gentle and don't overtorque the hinges. I preferred the one-hand-close flange-lock on the prior model; this one requires two-hands to close but it's no biggee. Scissors. Here's the downside. Mostly this tool's scissors work well, but it's the stupid spring wire that gives some tension while cutting - it always pops out of the little hole where it's supposed to anchor, and then the stupid spring wire is dancing around in the housing and the scissors are hard to use. I use them a lot, so this is a pretty significant annoyance. Short straight knife blade. A nice blade with serrated teeth at the deep end. No complaints or raving reviews; I sharpened the blade about 6 months ago and it kept its edge very well. The nail-file/ flathead screwdriver was great until I snapped it off torqueing too hard; was sorry to see it go as I often used the file, though not so much the large flat-head. Lastly, the belt clip caught on something and was splayed out and wouldn't hold the knife until I re-bent it and it's lasted well since then. The needle-nose pliers seem to be made of stronger stuff than the other tools; I am rebuying this now only because the phillips head snapped today and I need that. If not for that I'd continue using it; three years in and it's a solid until at this price-point. ... show more

  • Yep, it's a multi tool.
Super sturdy and very nice. Can't say anymore than that, because it would just be too obvious for how awesome this thing it. It's everything you expect it to be.

  • Good value, decent quality, fits basic needs
I picked these up to make a bunch of 6x12in "handy travel stuff" canvas pouches for myself & friends. I always end up accidentally forgetting about my multitool or pocketknife or scissors when I go through airport security, or I forget to bring or end up losing pens or a scarf or my notebook, or I end up having to use a shoelace for a makeshift clothesline when paracord would have been just the thing, or I space out bringing a lighter or a flashlight -- you know, all that stuff that you bring and lose on the trip, or stuff you forget to bring but would have ended up coming in super-handy at one point or the other, or stuff that inconsistent airport security screening will let pass in one country but clamp down on in another for some unknown reason. If I'm not traveling around on vacation or business, it'd be handy stuff to just have in the car. So it turns out that I wanted some kind of inexpensive but reliable multi-tools to put in these pouches and I spent a day looking through the options. I'd recently had a Gerber multitool confiscated by airport security in Edinburgh, so I figured that I'd check out all the other brands for a replacement, including the AliExpress chinesium ones, but when I went through the list of tools and looked at the quality of steel and construction, I kept coming back to Gerber. The value proposition of this multi-tool is really good. You get enough tools to fit most common requirements, decent steel and a reasonable (pretty cheap, all considered) price. I bought four of them. They don't need to be especially rugged, though they are substantial, and they won't likely get more than a week's use if they do become necessary. It was just the thing for my little pouches and if one should get lost it won't break the bank to replace. ... show more

  • Skeletool equal???
Got this to replace my lost Leatherman Skeletool and I like it so much better! No bits to lose, has scissors that actually work quite well, has a spring on the pliers, all of the tools lock in place so nothing will accidentally close while in use, it feels just as well made as the Leatherman imho, and I could go on. It doesn't have the built in "carabiner", but I never used it anyway so no big deal to me. Overall, I honestly don't see how you could go wrong on this one as its EVERYTHING the 'tool' is, PLUS has the added functionality of scissors, locks and costs less. It is a little bulkier but has more tools, so I think its worth it. Hope this helps! ... show more
