    • A good addition to the One+ family
A while back I standardized on the Ryobi One+ family for a couple of reasons: -Inexpensive -Available at the local orange home improvement store -Relatively durable -Large assortment of tools -I'm not a pro mechanic anymore so I don't need anything more powerful -Batteries are backward compatible with Ryobi's old 18V NiCad tools (the dark blue ones) that I can find at garage sales, flea markets, etc. for a few bucks When my Harbor Freight multitool's battery died and I couldn't find a replacement, I decided to buy the Ryobi version to consolidate it with my existing batteries. This thing is WAY better than the old Harbor Freight tool. The variable speed is nice, it's way more powerful, it can use most standard multitool blades (including the ones from my old multitool), and the clamping screw for the blade doesn't loosen up unlike my old one. Best of all, I already have batteries, and they last a lot longer than with the old multitool. The only downside is that, because of the large batteries, this tool ends up being both big and heavy compared to a lot of the others. for me that's almost never a problem but if you use it a lot in confined spaces, you may want to go with something smaller. ... show more

    • A must have tool
A must have for all DIY projects, it works well for installing trim and making cuts in areas other tools cannot. It can also be used as a sander for small hard to reach areas. It is multiple tools in one. The six level speed control is nice for controlling cuts and has tons of power when dialed up.

    • The lock nut is weak. Breaks too easily.
The tool works great except for the locking mechanism that holds the blades, it snapped in two when I tried to changed out the blade. I just used various washers to fix it.

    • Poor Durability – Critical Part Failed After One Month

I was very disappointed with this tool. The blade retention mechanism failed after only one month of normal use. The part that holds and secures the blade appears to be made from a very soft metal alloy rather than hardened steel. The retaining pieces wore down quickly, deformed, and eventually failed, making the tool unusable. A component that experiences constant vibration and stress should be manufactured from a much stronger material. Instead, it looks like a cheap cast alloy that cannot withstand regular use over time. The motor and battery may still work fine, but the blade mounting system is clearly the weak point of the design. I expected much better durability from this brand. Having a critical part fail after only a month is unacceptable. Unless the manufacturer improves the quality of the blade retention assembly, I cannot recommend this product. ... show more
