Headline says it all. If you want a versatile, compact tool that can do most whatever you want to do, hit the buy button. Snag a Leatherman (all models are good). Toss it in your tool bag or junk drawer in the kitchen, hang it on your belt and you can toss a lot of specialty tools in the trash (or give the lesser tools to your up and coming handyman). The Leatherman will be your go to tool when you have a project to finish or a quick fix. Leathermans are versatile and very well made! Pick it up, open it up and you'll see immediately it is very high quality. Worth every penny. Not some cheap Chinese knock off. If you know tools, you can tell the minute you pick a Leatherman up, it's near a work of art. It will do 99% of what you need to do. Granted, they are not cheap. If you use tools you already know, good tools are NOT cheap and good tools will last you lifetime. And if you are like me, I DO NOT let others touch or borrow my good tools! I've been using Leatherman's for eons. I've bought a number of diff models. Not due to them breaking but because bone-head me has left them on projects or on jobs (like in a wall). I've bought no-name universal tools thinking I'd save some money and I've always ended up ordering a new Leatherman. The no-name knock-offs are not worth it, no matter how much cheaper they are than a Leatherman. I swear, I was not compensated for this review in any way. If you are on the fence, the price seems a bit high, don't know if you should spend the money to get a Leatherman - JUST DO IT. Stop hesitating, just hit the BUY button. You won't be disappointed! After it arrives and you use it a bit, you'll realize you should have ordered one earlier. I did not write this to be compensated (although it would be cool if Leatherman sent me another one (can't have too many). I don't write a lot of reviews. A mediocre item does not deserve a review. I wrote this review because in my humble opinion, I think Leathermans are that good and worth every nickel (even though that's a lot of nickels). I hope they continue to make killer quality tools. This thing is good enough to get me to write my first Amazon review ever. I work in the commercial AV industry and my tool needs vary from an entire rolling tool bag for full installations to just a few tools, cables, and a laptop for programming and commissioning. In only a few short weeks, the Wave+ has basically eliminated my need to carry any additional tools for service calls or commissioning days. Paired with the Leatherman bit kit and ratchet driver, this thing can handle whatever I need it to do and then some. It's obviously going to do the cutting, driving and grabbing that you want--but the file and saw make it so that you can make cosmetic touch-ups or get yourself out of a pinch when needed. I haven't taken it camping or fishing yet, but so far this thing has been a workhorse on the job site and I'm looking forward to seeing what problems it can solve for me next.

Everything about it is as described and works well. My only issue (and it is a me thing for not reading), it is replaced a leatherman bond and is notably heavier and larger. This is a large multitool. It takes some getting used in your pocket if you are used to something smaller.

This is a state of the art multi-tool. A multitool is desirable since with a single sheath one can carry a device will handle the functions of multiple tools. Since it is not a wrench it doesn't handle nuts well but the other tools are useful for a variety of tasks. This is not intended to replace your single purpose, dedicated tools in your work area. What it is good for is when you are somewhere without your tool belt and you need a simple tool to complete a task. I have been using multi-tools for about 50 years, and this is an example of a well built, well designed multitool at an acceptable price.

I like the Wave+, and overall I think Leatherman deserves its reputation. It feels substantial in the hand without being ridiculously bulky, the stainless steel construction feels solid, and everything folds together into a surprisingly compact package. Nothing about it feels like a novelty multitool. This is something I would actually expect to use, carry, and keep for years. The pliers are probably the best part. They are full-size enough to actually grab, twist, bend, and hold things instead of being those tiny multitool pliers that technically satisfy the definition but aren't much help. The replaceable wire cutters are a nice touch too. The main knife is also a genuinely useful blade, and the bottle opener will probably see more real-world action than half the advertised tool list. Those three alone make the Wave+ useful to me. The screwdrivers, scissors, saw, files, and other bits are the things I'm glad to have available when I need them, even if I wouldn't necessarily reach for a Leatherman instead of a dedicated tool when I'm standing next to a toolbox. My only real complaint is the “18 tools” claim. I understand how Leatherman gets to 18, but you have to be pretty generous with the accounting. Needlenose pliers and regular pliers are counted separately even though they're the same jaws. The two surfaces of the file become two tools. The opener gets multiple jobs. There is even a ruler incorporated into the handles. By those standards, my Bowie knife may qualify as a small hardware store. I would rather see manufacturers advertise the number of actual implements and then list all the different functions they can perform. Still, that is mostly a marketing gripe rather than a criticism of the Wave+ itself. The important parts are genuinely useful, well made, and compact enough to keep handy. I grew up with the idea that you ought to have a pocket knife or multitool available because sooner or later something needs cutting, tightening, grabbing, opening, or fixing. The Wave+ fills that role very well.

I’ve been using the LEATHERMAN Wave+ 18-in-1 Multi-tool for over ten years, and it still works flawlessly. All the tools function perfectly, and the knives remain sharp even after a decade of regular use. I use the knife and pliers most often, but the screwdrivers (both flathead and Phillips) are also frequently handy. Recently, I added a set of extra screwdriver bits, which fit perfectly and make the tool even more versatile. I’ve also used the file, while the scissors and bottle opener are used less often—but it’s great to know they’re always there when needed. The stainless steel construction has held up incredibly well, and the photo shows what it looks like after more than ten years of active use—it still looks solid and reliable. I recently bought another one as a gift for a friend, and he’s extremely happy with it. Overall, this is an excellent gift for men.

I previously purchased the HF knock off. I liked the design but not the quality and proformance. I recieved my letherman Wave + and could immediately feel the difference in ever single aspect of the tool. The wave plus has has replaceable wire cutting jaws. the only reason I am giving 4 stars is the fact leatherman no longer comes with a sheath and want to charge me $25 for the sheath.
