My family of four adults (18, 25, 81, and 83 years) loves this toaster and everyone uses it daily....it has been ideal for toast, bagels, English muffins, and reheating our home-made pancakes, French toast, and waffles. The large slots handle everything perfectly! Nothing ever gets jammed and the shiny silver cleans easily. We hung on to our older expensive toaster too long, and it gave us fits! We all appreciated this inexpensive, easy to use Mueller toaster immediately. There are four white circles on the front to touch frozen, warming/reheating, light/dark, and pop-up options, and we use them all frequently. After a little more than a year, the circles began to wear away between the constant use, and possibly the frequent cleaning. So, I wrote to Mueller customer service asking if they had little stick-on decals I could attach as replacements for the functions, wondering if I'd even get an answer. I was willing to buy a new toaster if we couldn't patch this one up, having given it so much use! The very next day, I received a wonderful note from Customer Support Team Rep Marc Green offering, instead, to replace the toaster! He was so kind about our satisfaction with their product. He said a new one would arrive in about five days if I sent our address. Instead, it arrived in TWO days! Beautiful design and excellent quality stainless steel toaster. Does not show fingerprints, is easy to clean. It is super-easy to slide out and empty the crumb tray. Slots are wide enough for big bagels. Adjustable and consistent darkness controls, and easy to operate. I have found that Mueller is a top quality brand. I started my “Mueller Collection” with a vegetable peeler, and now own Dutch Ovens, a drip coffee maker, an immersion blender, and now a toaster. Subsequently, I have bought SIX more Mueller Dutch ovens as gifts and the recipients have been delighted with them. All are gold-standard quality in their design and operation, and priced very reasonably. I bought the toaster BECAUSE of my satisfaction with the other Mueller products I own, and it lived up to my high expectations.     • Slots not deep enough
The toasters slots are wide enough but not deep enough. My toast is always 3/4" sort of being toasted at the top. I buy regular size bread, so that is not the issue. It also takes twice as long to toast as my old toaster, so adjust your timing for when you think it will be ready. Looks great on the counter, easy to adjust dials, and toast comes out fine when each setting you want is used. ... show more

    • I like the concept but very average budget toaster with questionable reliability
I've owned this toaster now for 1 1/4 years... one side no longer works so I'm looking to replace it. I think overall it was a decent budget toaster while it lasted, but it's clearly not built to last - though we do use our toaster almost daily so we got good use of it. Now that I'm looking to replace I'm not considering it again... it does toast pretty well but we typically use setting 4 or 5 and there's a huge difference between these settings... 4 taking too long to toast and 5 too easy to burn... but when it does complete the toast just right it's good quality. Considering the finicky controls, one side broke just outside of warranty and it's general utility I rate it as quite average - though I do like being able to load extra-wide sourdough bread or two slices side by side in this toaster. ... show more

    • Minor gripes but an excellent toaster.
I give this 4 stars for the price (on sale) and the performance, however, there are some minor gripes which would have been so easy to do it's annoying that they didn't do it. 1) Power cord a just a little too short! For me, this is about 8" too short to get to the plug I want to use. If the cable came out of the other side of the unit, for example, this might not be an issue but as it is, I'm going to have to get creative for something so simple. The toaster we're replacing did NOT have this issue for some reason. I will be extending this cable with the cable from the old toaster. 2) No instructions? Maybe I missed them? On the box? NOPE! Seriously, does everyone have to figure out what the symboled buttons do? (see below) I had to copy and print out the graphic from the product page for taping up on the wall behind the toaster. I'm sure I can learn, but why do I need to learn how to use a toaster? I plan to add labels next to the buttons. Fortunately it's mostly cool-sided which is very nice. 3) The Buttons. a) Buttons just a little too close. Spacing these buttons out a scooch would make things a lot easier for not requiring one to be so precise for when you're still waking up. b) flat buttons lack tactile feedback so that one wouldn't need to be so mindful when using a TOASTER. Most of the time, one doesn't need to even press the buttons. I get that. As it is, one has to look closely at the buttons, figure out which button to press, then look as you're touching it. If they had a little "bump" on the cancel button, for example, one could more readily push that button should the toast be burning. 4) If you're still reading, the "Defrost" button doesn't just defrost! It defrosts THEN toasts. That's okay, but the missing instructions could have made that clear. Understand the "Defrost" button on microwave ovens only defrost so now there's yet another thing for me to remember. THE GOOD: THE PRICE (when on sale) I LOVE how it remembers the last used settings for both the regular toasting as well as the defrost mode! I LOVE the look of it. (mostly) Coolsided. I really appreciate this. Very good for the price. Recommended! ... show more
