  • Appeared to be a decent machine, but had tech issues.
Style: RTX-1660S Size: 1TB Nvme
Never had a chance to actually use the machine. I got it set up, ran it through some tests to see if everything was working and it ran fast and smooth. So, I let it go idle and did some other work around the house. When I came back 45 minutes later, the main monitor was not working, and it lost internet through WiFi shortly after. I called the tech support number listed with the machine. They were less than helpful. The WiFi adaptor is apparently old and not compatible with the new version of windows 11, so they wanted me to order a USB adaptor and plug the PC directly into the network. I can't as my network doesn't use any cables, it's all WiFi. They tried to issue me a credit to cover this, so that is good at least. Then we tried to fix the HDMI port. New cable, nothing. Plugged existing cable into another computer, works fine. They then told me that the graphics card can't handle the load of using the HDMI and that's why it isn't working and I need to use the VGA port. Um, No. Hard No. This is a Gforce GTX 1660 Super, it can handle 3d graphics and the HDMI is the primary output. I asked them detailed questions on fixing the issues, drivers, updates, etc. The guy got his boss, no help. I was told that I had overheated the card and I needed to let it cool down. To power off the machine for 10 minutes and then power it up. If it didn't work, to call back. I turned it off and set up the return while I waited and of course it did not work. I get that sometimes computers don't work right. Things go wrong. But to be told badly incorrect information and then talked to like I don't understand basic computers was enough. If they had offered to expedite a new unit or something along those lines, I would have tried that. I don't know if the customer support was Amazon or MTG, but the lack of any knowledge or willingness to help with actual solutions had me return this and order a different company machine. For the brief time it worked, the computer was extremely capable and I tried editing a few things in 4k and it did a great job. My guess is, I got a faulty video card. The WiFi adaptor I understand as the units are set up and produced long before we actually turn them on in many cases. So, what worked great when it was first ordered by the company selling it became obsolete in the interim. ... show more
