This is much more attractive than the standard plain black 4x4 spike. They fit my posts securely and I was impressed by the careful packaging. Some reviewers complained that the screws broke. They are not the best quality and if you try to screw them in they are going to strip. However, I drilled pilot holes and used a socket to install them and didn't have a problem. I am planning to place another order.

Well made, well finished. With a sacrificial piece of 4x4 wood inserted into the receiver it survived a thorough bashing as it was pounded into the ground. My technique was to first drill a 18” pilot hole into the dirt with a 3/4” auger before inserting the post spike. That way I could confirm there were no large hidden rocks in its path. It was used as a support for a mail box on a 4x4 wooden post, and seems very rigid. Nice.

These work great for 4x4 posts. The stakes go 2 feet into the ground and have 4 solid bolts to anchor the post to the holder. Very classy and very sturdy!

That's right. I used it as a mail box post anchor. I just selected the site and used a wood block and a sledge hammer and drove it in the ground. Placed my post and secured it to the post with the supplied screws. Job done.
