Definitely worth a little more money to upgrade to the Pro. Starts every time and saves time if you've got cold hands and need to cook some food. I can't say enough good things about this micro stove, it's been absolutely reliable for me in all types of conditions. Side note: don't order the mixed fuel cannisters from Amazon, they are far more expensive dt shipping flammable content. Great little stove. Has regulator which is great for even gas flow at low levels and cold weather. Great summer control. Was able to cook oatmeal with out burning it in the MSR Titan kettle. The two downsides that sticks out is that it isn’t as packable as the pocket rocket 2 but makes up for it with its built in wind resistance and it’s weight which is countered by it’s sturdiness. Works mostly great. Good windshield, has regulator, self ignition does not work in cold weather or high altitudes. Tried contacting MSR multiple times for support with no success.

I've purchased half a dozen different stoves over the last few years. Soto, Maplewhateverits called, a few others... Can't explain why, maybe I've been looking for the perfect stove. This could be it. It boils my coffee crazy fast. I drink Turkish coffee when camping and with other stoves I've got a few minutes to get plates out, etc while the coffee gets hot. This stove, no way, I have no time, I've got to watch it or it boils over. It is a very hot stove, very fast, I like it. And, I don't use a windscreen. Very fast boil, and unlike Soto it's one piece, also I like the legs better, very sturdy. ... show more

Works great but I did have one instance where the internal plate or grill fell out. Had to make sure the wire for the igniter is inside the plastic tube under the burner in order for the igniter to work (the burner is threaded on) other than that it works great again. Been doing a coast to coast on the motorcycle. Used it everyday at all elevations. Even the Rockies. Gotta have my coffee in the mornings haha. ... show more

I had the original pocket rocket which was amazing. This one is a serious upgrade. Burner is much larger, the pot legs are wider and flatter, and the addition of the igniter is amazing. Definitely worth every penny

i first got to use about a week ago for a camping trip. First I perked coffee in a 12 cup pot (which was too big for the stove, but it did perk pretty quickly), but the pot got pushed off by gusty wind. But large pot, small stove - go figure! But using it with a camp cook set it works like a champ (you could use a wind screen to make it better). Cooking for two to four people it works great, just don't expect to use large heavy cookware on it, Boiling water, cooking one or two portions in backing cook sets is what it was designed for. In five days , cooking two meals a day I used less than half of a 16oz fuel canister for three people. It works great for what I want it for. Plus the stove itself packs right into my cook set and has the igniter which is a plus. Can't wait to use it again! ... show more

    • Phenomenal stove!
It's ultra compact and lightweight, incredibly efficient on fuel, and produces a ton of eat. Like it says, it isn't wind-proof, but it handles a bit of a breeze just fine.
