  • Solid board with an extensive set of features
The MSI MPG X570S Edge Max Wifi is a great board to close out the AM4 generation with a bang. I have coupled two of the boards to Ryzen 7, 5800g and 5800x3d processors, and have had fantastic results with both builds. At the time of writing, the board has climbed in price slightly, as I am willing to bet others are making the same combination. Out of the box, BIOS worked for 5800g and 5800x3d, but depending on the date of manufacture, you might need to flash update to get certain new features for those CPUs. I don't think anything I installed is on the QVL of compatible devices, and everything works flawlessly. The only downsides in my opinion: 1. The onboard ARGB is laughably cheap, poorly implemented, and wholly unimpressive. 2. Software/Windows based control over ARGB and fan speeds are handled through MSI Center software, which is objectively terrible. Install MSI Center, change the PCH (chipset) ARGB settings to something you like, or OFF. Uninstall MSI Center and reboot. Do it again later when some other program manages to modify them, but will not allow you to do it directly lol. ... show more

  • X570S Edge Is A Very Pleasant Surprise.
Excellent board! I bought the newer X570S version. It replaced an Asus Tuf X570 board which was acting up and solved a lot of problems for me. I use 3 NVME slots (windows, linux and a scratch drive) and it freed the 16x/4x electrical slot for a usb-c card. Also, it has 2.5Gb/s lan built in freeing a 1x slot. It booted the first time up with my 5900x, 3080, mismatched 96GB memory (32x2 Crucial 3200 and 16x2 Neo Forza 3200). MSI's bios is super easy to use. The only issue was finding where SVM was which was found in a search. Linux adjusted to the new board flawlessly with one minor issue, the Realtek alc 4080 has issues with the front panel headphone jack but thats commonplace for Realtek and Linux. Windows adjusted to the board with a few updates and restarts. Windows 10 license activated instantly without issue. Gaming, development (gcc, clang, vs), Blender, Gimp/Photoshop are 100% stable even with a slight overclock. The board is heavy with all of the heatsinks. Lots of back panel USB and USB headers on the board. Lots of fan headers, RGB and ARGB headers. There are two things I wish the board has. 1) Thunderbolt 4 support 2) A digital boot status display but it does have the std 4 leds. I was a bit hesitant of buying this because of a checkered MSI past with customer service but so far I have had zero complaints. Registering this board on MSI's website was a bit troublesome from all of the info they required and their product survey has some lost in translation issues. ... show more

  • Great motherboard, would recommend.
Has all the slots you could possibly want for anything. got it on sale for a great deal but even base price i would say its well worth the value. Also has a great design and aesthetic. Plus all the location for the inputs made building very easy and cable management a breeze. Overall great motherboard for AMD builds and made my first build as smooth as possible. ... show more

  • Great X570s mobo, but box was damaged
My issue is not with the motherboard itself but with the packaging. The actual box that the motherboard came in was soaked in some kind of tea and luckily didn’t wet any of what was inside the box. The outer packaging was not wet, so I assume someone at the warehouse dropped some tea on the box before packaging it and sending it out. This is unacceptable especially for an item that can be damaged by liquid. I didn’t want to waste my time returning it for the box issue so I just kept it. The motherboard works great and has everything you need to get the most out of AM4. Lots of connectivity, super fast wifi built in, 3x nvme slots, front panel type-c, etc. It also looks pretty good and would be perfect for an all-black pc build. The wifi won’t work out of the box, you need to google “msi mpg x570s edge drivers” and you’ll find all the drivers on msi’s website you need to get everything to work. msi has my favorite bios so far, easy to overclock ram and cpu. The price seems a little high, but this board really offers a ton of stuff. Overall great board, but I hope yours doesn’t arrive wet like mine did. ... show more

  • Everything I could want in a motherboard.
For my first build, things couldn't have gone any smoother, and I owe it to the MSI X570S motherboard. It has all the connectors, such as USB-C for case and extra power for CPU overclocking. Built in I/O shield is a nice touch. It was a breeze updating drivers with provided USB flash drive. Bluetooth connectivity is on point while wi-fi is offering speeds I never knew I had. No problems running PCIE 4.0 with Ryzen 5800x. My temps are nice and cool too, not sure if that has anything to do with motherboard, but thought I'd mention it. Also, the unboxing experience was pleasant. Nice attention to detail. Motherboard has a premium feel. If you're looking for a Ryzen 5000 Motherboard, this is a great option. ... show more

  • Another great gaming board
There is nothing bad to say here. This board performs like a champ. Boot time with a M2 SSD is 3 seconds or so and even the monitoring software is flawless. Gaming beats some of the best machines out there when coupled with a good graphics card. Very good overall price and performance. Excellent board! Love it. ... show more

  • Super easy install
I was running a Ryzen 7 5800X in a ROG Crosshair 6 Hero board. I needed a GPU upgrade, but unfortunately maxed out the board. After two bad Asus boards, I got this instead. Honestly should've from the start as it has been one of my easiest installs within the last decade. It came with a bios from Sept '22, so it was 5000 series capable as advertised right out of the box. I went ahead and updated to the most recent as of this writing anyway, along with drivers. Still rock solid and very quick. I also upgraded the GPU, pairing this board with a RX 6750XT which went equally well on this platform. I give a definite nod to MSI for ease of software use. If you're looking to upgrade for the best "bang for the buck" in 2023, this board is a strong candidate and should be considered for your AM4 build. ... show more
