Features

  • Power Amp - 1600 Max x 1 @2 Ohms, 800 Max x 1 @4 Ohms
  • Class A/B Topology - Class A amplifiers have enormous amount of current flowing through its output transistors with no audio signal. Class B amplifiers have no current flowing through its outputs with no audio signal
  • MOSFET Power Supply - A MOSFET is basically an electrical switch that allows the flow of electrical current. It controls the output voltage & current precisely by removing the output current sensing loss & eliminating all secondary feedback circuitry
  • Variable Low-Pass Crossover - Subwoofers reproduce sound based on a number of different low-range frequencies. You can set exact sound specifications for the bass frequency reproduction
  • Variable Bass Boost - Bass Boost allows you to adjust the low bass within the boost range to just the way you like it
  • Variable Gain Control - The gain control is not for adjusting volume. It simply adjusts the amount of signal that is coming from your receiver and going to your amplifier
  • Low & High Level Inputs - A low level (RCA) input is measured in voltages. A high level (+/- wire) input is measured in wattages. Both essentially carry signal from your receiver to your amplifier to your speakers
  • Specs - Dimensions: 12.34 x 10.44 x 2.25, Weight: 6.35 lbs., Speaker Impedance: 2 to 8 Ohm, THD @ RMS Output: 0.01%, S/N Ratio: 102 dB, Frequency Response: 9 Hz to 130 Hz, Fuse Quantity: 2 25 Amp ATO Blade

  • Great Value and Quality
Style: 200W 2 Channel
Exceptional amp and performed exactly as I needed it to.

  • Great for the price
Style: 1600W Monoblock
So far I’ve used this amp for 1 month with a dual set of KIcker Comp R 12s. It works well. The subs sound great and half volume is more than good enough for all bassy songs. Full volume will shake the car next to you.

  • Off to a great start! I am impressed!!! Read on....6 years later now.
Style: 1600W Monoblock
Edit 2: read bottom of review..... This is my first real review here on amazon so it may have typos, (I'm on my phone) or not the greatest grammar. I just received my 1600 watt mono riot boss amp earlier today 8-2-2016 and proceeded to hook it up. Its being tested and used on the dual 12 Mtx Terminators and so far so good. Haven't done the fine tuning on it or my head unit yet but I have the gain set 2/5 and they sound great for no tuning. For the sake of my review I will start with my initial impression of the amp and update it after I fine tune them. Then 1 week later, and at last 3-6months later. So, let's start with the unboxing. I purchased the 1600 watt mono riot to power my Mtx dual 12 Terminators at 400rms. I did extensive research on this amp and realize BOSS greatly over exaggerates their watts and rms. So I based it off that the 1100 watt riot that can be bundled with the Mtx Terminators is only pushing around 250-300rms at 2ohms according to many reviews I have read. With that math, the 1600 watt amp should be around 360-450 rms at 2ohms. Which would match my subs perfect. And even if I'm wrong, it should be a decent amp to power them at the least, and was purchased at a great price. I purchased a used like new amp from the Amazon wherehouse and it's brand new except for the boss which has a few minor dings. Now, when I opened the box, I was very impressed tbh. It's heavy but not too heavy, feels of high quality materials and it even looks nice (apparently it glows blue where it says BOSS). The bass knob is kind of cheap looking, but at least it comes with one. It has the manual and a BOSS sticker for your car, high level inputs, 2 extra fuses at 25amps a piece and mounting brackets attached to the amp. I ran it earlier for around an hour at mid level volume and it stayed cool (which doesn't mean it won't overheat after extensive use) but off to a good start. It's also 88 degrees outside where I'm at. So I realize there isn't a whole lot to my review to base a real review off of but my initial impression warrants a 4stars. I will update my review in 1 week with more information on my experience with this amp. Edit: it's now been 5 days and it kicks like a champ. I found the sweet spot on my amp for the subs and it bumps. Ran it for over an hour at 3/4 volume and it only got a little bit hot. Nothing major. I am very impressed and will continue to adjust minor things as I feel I have broke my subs in. I do not use bass knob (it does work) but I feel like i have to put the knob higher up than the amp gain knob to get the same sound. It could be just me but whatever. Let's see how the next couple months go and I'll be back for my final thoughts. Still 4 stars and I highhly recommend this amp for budget builds or people on a budget. Also, it looks so dope at night when the amp lights up blue around the BOSS logo in the back of my jeep. Edit2: So amp still is running a few weeks later and has never overheated like some may say. It all depends on location, what it's powering and how hot it is in your area u live. But I've come to realize it sounds decent. Maybe I have gotten used to the bass but it doesn't kick as hard as I feel they can or others have stated with a different amp..once again I have the boss 1600mono amp class a/b powering 2 12 mtx terminators. I am going to purchase a new rockford Fosgate Amp 500w at 2 ohms and will update my review once I hear how it sounds in a few weeks. I have a feeling it's going to be much better sounding and might take a star off my review. Still a cheap priced amp for a cheap build. Also the price has risen to 77$ on amazon in the past few weeks...I bought it for 53$like new. So be careful. Edit 3: 6 years later it finally went died on me. A couple things I've learned over the years. 1. This amp (1600 watt) is only 500rms at 2ohms. Even then it might be less. 2. The price is at 110$ now which is double the price I spent, although 6 years ago. 3. It lasted through 3 cars, and multiple installs. Its a great amp for what you get and for a low rms low budget build. Stick to around 400-500rms. But with all ive learned from car audio, Skar is the best proce to performance out there. If you cant get Skar then this will do. ... show more

  • Compact, easy to install, very decent sound quality for the money!
Style: 200W 2 Channel
PROS: small footprint, budget friendly, great sound CONS: despite some claims it still requires adequate air flow to remain cool The application is to power an OEM dual coil 7" subwoofer pulled from another car and placed in the trunk of my daily driver sedan. I'm using and aftermarket head end with line-outs for the subwoofer function. I wasn't looking for anything too big as I needed my trunk space, small as it is but adequately insulated, and I didn't need to heard coming a mile away. Installation was a breeze. I did have to drill mounting holes under the deck but then it came together quickly. All connections are pretty straightforward (if you know, you know). I have the head end set to drive the mid-range door speakers directly (4 of them in standard stereo pairs) with a HPF of 83Hz and max 50W per channel. Lower frequencies makes the door metal panels rattle too much. The sub woofer stereo line outs is set with the LPF function to 120Hz and under. Nominal impedance of the dual coil sub is 2 ohms each wired separately for both of the amp's stereo outputs. The woofer along with amp are all in the trunk with enough insulation to prevent car body rattling. The final sound is better than I expected. Tuning wasn't very hard, a little work for the filter settings but the effort is rewarding and really pays off. You couldn't pay an installer to do better than you like to hear it. Despite some claims of being compact enough for fully enclosed installation, I would not recommend it. This unit can still get hot, especially in the summer time, and it needs ambient airflow for cooling. Would definitely need fans for tight spaces. I never got it hot enough to distort in my trunk but YMMV if you're seeking to put this under the seats or in the console. ... show more

  • No good...spend a little more and buy a quality amp
Style: 200W 2 Channel
This amp did not work out for me. I did not it expect it to work as well as my previous 300 watt 2-channel amp but at least expected some acceptable level of sound. I replaced an older amp (MTX TC3002) that was beginning to fail with this one, using the same wiring in place. After the install, this amp gave horrible alternator whine to the point that it overpowered all sound from the two Polk 3.5 in speakers that it was powering. The old amp, using the same wiring, did not experience any alternator whine. I also have 2 other Rockford Fosgate amps installed and neither of them have any alternator whine at all. Additionally, I installed an American International S-25A noise filter, but the alternator whine did not change at all. At this point I cannot use this amp in my truck, so I will stop being cheap and buy another RF amp (Prime R150x2). Perhaps I will be able to use the amp in a future pet project like a tool box or cooler radio to take to the beach. I will also note, as others have, this amp will not produce 200 watts as it has a 7.5 amp fuse in it. The RF Prime R150x2 (150 watts) I just purchased recommends a 20 amp fuse. If you do the math on this simple comparison it is clear the level of output will be much lower than other, quality amps if your Boss amp does turn out to work properly at all. ... show more

  • Takes away from head unit preset's
Style: 200W 2 Channel
This amp does what it supposed to do however since there is only a level control on it...it takes away the stereos bass and treble...actually my stock stereo output sounds better than what this amp can provide...good price so I decided to keep it for maybe something else.
