Recently I tasked myself with building a new PC. After doing many hours of research on what case, ram, CPU, and of course motherboard, I had concluded that I wanted to get the Ryzen 7 3700x CPU which meant that I needed to change my plan on the motherboard I got. I ultimately chose this one because I thought that for all the features, build quality, design, and overall ease of use that this was the one for me. I thought for the price it was worth it. It had everything I wanted and then some. I appreciate that the guard is pre-installed and another huge plus is that CPU mount came pre-installed as well which for my CPU fan was a quick and relatively easy install. This was my first time building my computer and I had so much fun. The motherboard is as durable as motherboards get and look super slick especially once you get it hooked up and running with the built-in RGB lights. It also came with all cables and accessories that were advertised and arrived in its original sealed and undamaged box. The price point for me at least is in the sweet spot of quality and price. You get tremendous quality at just the right price. I do think that MSI needs to make it simpler to find an RGB controller for the RGB lights on the motherboard. It took a little bit of research to find it. Anyone interested in it just goes to google and search for MSI Dragon Center. Finally, I thought that as far as BIOS goes this one was superb. Having an option to switch between easy and advanced made it much more pleasant diving into the BIOS. I have one final flaw and that is when I inserted my 2 RAM sticks I was told it was best to place one stick in the second slot from the left and the other in the fourth slot or on the far right. Don't know why it's like that but it is. At least they show you a graphic that shows which one needs to be moved and which slot to move it to. It was an easy fix. As I said this was my first time building a PC so I am by no means an expert, but given the motherboard didn't complicate any part of the build process or set up of my new PC I would recommend this one to anyone that buys a Ryzen 7.

The layout of the board is fairly well designed for my purposes. All of the cooling features (M.2 heatsink, chipset fan, etc) have (so far) performed to expectation and I have not seen any overheating. Time will tell as game specifications continue to rise. Placement of the M2. slots and PCIe x16 slots was sufficient for my setup running multiple GPUs. I had a brief discussion with Tech Support, who were able to help me out with a question I had (read: "idiot's moment") while remaining polite. I have not tested the overclocking functionality of the system, yet. The one irritation that I have run into, so far, with this product is in the registration. Registration of the product requires a number only found on a sticker on the motherboard itself (specifically, on the motherboard power connector). I found that it was not easy to read once the computer had been put together in my case (although I finally managed it without too much disassembly). I would suggest that you take a picture of this sticker (or register the product) prior to installation to ease this process. The first thing that I did when I got this system built was boot into the BIOS. I was thoroughly impressed by the features offered. It includes charting to monitor the temperature over time as well as to control the fans. It also includes a visual layout of the board with detected hardware. I'm running Linux as the primary operating system. Most of the mainstream/user-friendly Linux distributions (as of this writing) use an older Linux kernel which will not support the wireless drivers out of the box. Aside from this, the system was very easy to set up and work out of the box. I'm still in the process of setting up all of the virtualized systems, but have not run into any hardware related problems to this point. I have even been able to get the main GPU passed through to a Windows system for gaming, though that more advanced use took some work.

Just got this board so I can’t speak to its long term utility so this is just based on initial impressions from the build and subsequent testing. Very nice after I got it running but manual is unclear about power connections. Thought I had a DOA board for 2 days and rebuilt my computer 3 times. Turns out there are two CPU power connectors on top of the board - an 8 pin and a 4 pin. Manual says “connect all power connectors”. If you do, THE BOARD WILL NOT POWER ON. Do not use both! I unplugged the 4 pin connector and everything worked. Also the DIMMS need to be populated in a specific way. I see a lot of photos and videos of people doing it wrong for full speed. You need to populate slot #2 from the CPU first, then #4 to to get full memory channel use with 2 DIMMS. PCIE 4.0 nvme drives are stupid fast! My GTX 1080 card runs faster than it did in my old PC. The easy mode overclocking was pretty good too. I know I could get a little more manually but I was able to get 4.25 GHz on a 3800x and RAM ran at advertised 3600 with 1 click. It’s stable and it’s good enough for me. I wish it had a couple more 3 pin ARGB headers but that’s just stupid cosmetic stuff. Great board. None of the software (including the RGB controls) require logins or cloud accounts unlike some other vendors. Never had a bad MSI experience...my first MSI board from 2012 is still running 24/7 as a home server so I expect good things from this one. So far I’m not disappointed. [update] With Ryzen Master auto overclock I’m now running at 4.45 GHz on a 3800x @ 72 degrees and stable.

So far so good. I just bought this board to replace the nightmare of an experience with the ASUS x570 Tuf (Don't buy that one, and I have always liked ASUS). This board was easy to get up an running with minimal changes. You also have many options for OC your CPU and RAM, Although the bios is a little clunky. But really I haven't found to many Bios options out there at this price level that provide much thrills. This board will give you everything you need in a mid level gaming machine, if you are not wanting to spend a ton of money on crazy high performance. Which really most of us don't need, just spend your money on a decent GPU. I am recreational gamer, but I am a graphic designer and needed something at this level to support the work I do. My Build Case: Fractal Design Meshify C CPU: Ryzen 7 3700x MB: MSI MPG x570 Gaming Pro Carbon GPU: XFX AMD Radeon RX 5600 XT Power: ThermalTake Modular 750w RAM: Patriot Viper 32 GB SSD: Corsair NVMe 500 GB 4.0 (with other previous HDD's) Pros: • Easy Setup • Minimal issues • Convenient fan terminal placement • Had all the ports I was looking for • Looks good and clean • IO plate was built onto MB, which is a nice change • Dragon Center software is good enough to help set how you want your RGB addressable profile setup Cons: • Bios Flash is done though USB instead of directly through bios like ASUS (not a huge deal) • USB 3.0 socket was facing to the side, which made it hard for me to place the cable. This is really only due to the • case I had, so shouldn't be a huge deal to others. • Bios is a little clunky • MSI software leaves much to be desired, but really that's not why you buy the board

I built two PC's with the MSI X570 Carbon Motherboard, 3700x CPU, and Noctua NH-D15 cooler. I did quite a bit of research, but somehow missed the reviews showing some of MSI's X570 boards running VRMs hotter than the competition. In fact, one of the reasons I chose these boards is that they appeared to have better VRMs than the other boards with the features I wanted. The rest of the feature set and look is exactly what I wanted, so I pulled the trigger. I've had these two systems up and running now for 3 and 5 weeks respectively and have had zero issues. Since Ryzen CPU's have jumpy temperatures anyways, I based all my fan curves on the MOSFET temperatures, which even under extended load, never get over 55C in my testing. That's with both GPU and CPU maxing out in Prime 95 & Furmark. The CPU does hover in the 80 to 95C range while boosting to 4 to 4.3Ghz, but this is very much a worst case scenario, and never gets anywhere near this in realistic loads. This is also with all my fans set to be barely audible, they don't get over 1000RPMs until the MOSFETs hit 60C, which they never did. So regarding the published results of poor MSI VRMs, I'm not 100% sure... But I have a few theories - The boards some of the reviewers used were early models & MSI has since improved the VRM Cooling on this board since the initial release and mine are revised (I doubt this, but possible) - With only a 3700x and good case/tower cooler, it's a non issue - Fixed with a BIOS update somehow? Maybe the VRMs were running too much voltage and has since been fixed (I flashed to the latest 11/7 BIOS first thing) - The MOSFET temperature is lying and it's actually running much hotter than it says - The VRMs are fine for the under 90 Watt CPU load that the 3700x and lower run at, but spike in temperatures and power consumption when you go above that, such as to a 3900x or higher (I believe this is the most likely scenario) So I've spent a lot of time talking about this because this was recently called the worst motherboard by Hardware Unboxed based on their testing. I just don't get the same results as their hot MOSFETs. I'm only using a 3700x, but my MOSFET temps are lower than their lowest board. I have a hard time believing a 3900X in my build would bring it from 55C to 100C. So either something has improved, ie. BIOS or Build Quality, or the MOSFETs only spike in temperature when operating over 100 Watt or so. Anyways, I'll now focus on the rest of the board... The X570 Chipset stays under 60C in all but the most intensive tests, meaning the little fan stays off 99% of the time. During stress testing the entire system, heat from the GPU finally caused the Chipset to get over 60C, and when the fan kicked on, it added no appreciable noise. In normal operation, I've yet to see the chipset fan kick on. It turns on full speed at first boot up, where it is very audible, but that's it. I would assume heavy use of PCIe Gen 4.0 would cause the chipset to heat up as well, but heavy use with an ADATA SX8200 Pro has not caused this. The overall layout of this board is pretty good. Just about everything is well placed and easy to work with. I would have liked the first PCIe 16x slot one slot lower and a PCIe 1x slot, but few boards do this anymore. I also would have liked at least one more fan header at the top of the board. Aesthetically, the board looks very good. The color scheme and styling gave me exactly what I wanted and all the LED controls are nice to have, and gives me a good system to build on. The BIOS is fine. The mouse action is a little derpy, but everything was easy to find and functioned well. My older MSI Z370 Gaming Plus board seemed a little less derpy with certain things, but the was nothing that stopped me from doing what I needed/Wanted. Overall, I'm very happy with this board. The VRM temperature scare would have likely pushed me away from this board had I seen it, but I'm glad it didn't Mine is just fine, and I'll likely never be putting a 3900x or higher in it. I'd be far more likely to sell off this system in 3 to 5 years and build on the latest platform, and for the 8 core Ryzen's these VRMs do just fine. Edited for Brevity and Clarity.

Have used this motherboard for over 5 years! Still going strong! Bought this for my first ever PC build. I went with a mid range gaming set up. Set up is a breeze. Follow along with a few videos. Keep track of the little pieces. The speed of this board is great. The BIOS functionality is useful and helps with configuring different boot options. The amount of ports on this is more than enough for me. I do try to dust my computer off every 6 months, but sometimes I forget. Despite my lack of regular cleanings, this thing is durable and stands the test of time. Would recommend, would purchase again even still today. There are cool RGB features, but I always turn off or unplug all my LED's because I don't really care to have my computer light up.

Ever since my first build in 2011, MSI has always been my top two companies for quality and assurance and the MPG X570 Gaming Pro Carbon Wifi still uphold that standard. The USB Type-C, 3.1 Gen 1 & 2 are great touches and I only wish there are 2 to 4 more for its price but it seems like the cost is something we’ve got to deal with for all the X570 boards at this time. The Wifi is just what I needed since it beats having a 100ft Ethernet cable traveling down my steps to each my computer. I have no issues with lag and my download speed is still acceptable. The range of the Bluetooth is also appreciable as I am able to use my Xbox One controller from my bed (~8ft away) without any connectivity issues. Moreover, my favorite feature has to stem from the boards RGB syncing as it makes my lighting more coordinated. The Bios is great looking. I only wish to navigate it is a lot easier; but, with all the options offered, I suppose that’s a given. The fan noise is not noticeable at all. I love it how it’s open to ensure that there’s optimal airflow as I have seen some other models with tight grids over them. My only concern with this fan is if it were to fail as I am planning to use this board every day for the next 5 to 6 years. Overall, I am satisfied with my purchase. The board itself is gorgeous. The Wifi and Bluetooth work as they should so I have absolutely no complaints there. The RGB is noteworthy. Overclocking my ram was no hassle (very compatible). The downside is that, it’s expensive, has too little USB ports for its asking price, and it should have more button controls and an LED display on the board.

MSI makes great parts. This motherboard has many fan connectors and also connectors for liquid cooling units and such. Has the spots on motherboard to plug in fans that light up and also my MSI liquid unit I used, fit perfectly with the mainboard. It has generation 4 m.2 Nvme drives. Spots for 2 nvme drives. This is one of the best AM4 motherboards your going to find and MSI has the x570 Carbon priced very well for the value. The board also has digital real time temperature display on the board itself which is neat. I like to be able to turn my head and see the temp of my CPU. If your building a computer, I highly recommend this board. Also... I was able to use my old hard drive in my new build. My old Nvme drive with windows 11 works perfect!!! I didn't even have to re format or anything. This is the best motherboard I've ever had the pleasure of installing!!! EASY TO OVERCLOCK. Took my memory from 2667 to 3200mhz to reach coupled mode with AMD CPU infinity fabric is apparently set at 3200 mhz with the Ryzen 5000 series which is freakin fast as hell. You can tweak pretty much everything in the BIOS. Damn this is a good motherboard. I ended up running my memory at 3600 mhz. 4000 mhz was stable for a while but with the Gskill Trident memory I purchased it's easy to under or overclock. I recommend 3600 mhz with 5000 series CPU's.
