  • Best Z690 motherboard.
In my opinion this is best Z690 motherboard and I've owned both Asus and EVGA Z690 boards also.

  • Best Z690 motherboard
Amazing Memory clocker and just an overall pleasure of a motherboard to work with. Well worth its asking price.

  • Obviously Pre-Owned. Video Card Slots Broken
After weeks of doing everything possible to get this obviously pre-owned mobo working, (the manual and IO cover were both missing.) I give up! Time after time, unless the Gods themselves deign it so, changing something as simple as a fan creates an unsolvable "d6" error code, i.e., no video output detected. I love the features this mobo has, I just wished Amazon hadn't cheated me with a piece of *^(#@ that should never have made it out the door. ... show more

  • Random shutdowns under heavy CPU load
I currently own an Asus Strix Z690 D4 but wanted to move to DDR5 and I was waiting for a decently priced open box 2-dimm board to become available when one popped up so I snagged it from Amazon Warehouse. It arrived basically looking near brand new (few blemishes here and there) but I did notice the stickers had been removed and reapplied so it HAD been used sometime in the past. It was open box so that was to be expected. The board is solidly constructed and pleasing to the eye. The sheer amount of pack-ins is astounding. If you're into flair and tchotchkes this has them in abundance. There was no manual included. I'm not sure if it was meant to have one or if MSI does the QR code route. After updating the BIOS from a circa 2021 revision to the newest A.90 I outfitted it with my pre-existing components (12900k, Samsung 1TB SSD, MSI 4090, 1600w PSU) and away we go. It was also outfitted with a set of Trident 2x16GB 7600 DDR5 modules. I was able to dial in the memory to 7400 @ 34-43-43-34 rock solid (TM5 and WMD passed). Everything seemed to work well from stress testing the GPU to the memory and more. Gaming was fine too. The problem was once placed under a meaningful CPU load the system would randomly shut down. No warnings, nothing...just complete power off. CPU temps were fine along with VRM temps. It would just power off. I swapped in a 12400 and a 12100 and they ran fine under sustained load indicating an issue with much heavier loads being subject to a motherboard issue. I swapped everything back to my Strix Z690 D4 and with the 12900k under the same heavy CPU load scenarios that caused random immediate shutdowns of the MSI Unify-X, it ran just fine for 30-60min stress tests. Pity as it was a good price and I really liked the aesthetics of the board except for the BIOS indicator light which is ALWAYS on. One position is is a glaring white. The other is an even worse red. ... show more

  • Great board - doesn't support graphics from CPU
Review of MSI MEG Z690 Unify-X Gaming Motherboard: The motherboard has tons of feature, connectivity, and storage options. Supports DDR5. Lots of front and read USB ports. I felt mislead about the raid functionality, it is an enabler for software raid, motherboard does not perform hardware raid. Also, it does not support the GPU built into the Intel CPUs (like i9 12900k). So you can not do encoding/decoding or other graphics functions using the Intel UHD Graphics GPU. BIOS Firmware is easy to upgrade and to navigate. At this cost point, I felt the card should have 10GB network support as well. The lack of GPU support was a show stopper for me. Lack or RAID was disappointing. I knew it did not support 10GB before I ordered. ... show more

  • Fast. Overclock.
This board is made for over clocking. It’s simple with only two DDR5 slots. No complaints so far.

  • Gash on heat sink.
Quality control should not be an issue when paying the premium for the premium. No damage to box or static bag which tells me it was packaged damaged or repackaged and resold. Now I’m torn between finishing my build or sending this back and being delayed due to lack of quality control. When I spoke to rep at MSI they passed me off to just returning it to vendor through Amazon. The lengthy return process will put at least 2 weeks into getting a replacement waiting on funds to come back and then shipping. Really leaves a sour taste in my mouth regarding my future business and pushing MSI products for my customers. This is supposed to be one their top tier product for another 3 days. ... show more
