  • Great value, easy install, and looks good!
For the money, I think this is a fantastic motherboard. As a first time PC builder, I really liked the simplicity of the board. Everything is clearly labeled and the provided manual makes installing easy. I like the covers/heatsinks above some areas (although it definitely caught me off guard that I couldn't find the M2 SSD slot for a second). Some of those screws are sneaky tight, so just be careful not to strip them. My one minor complaint is that the top left screw is incredibly difficult to get to if your CPU cooler is already installed and your case is on the smaller side. So I recommend installing that after you've screwed in your Motherboard to the case. As for the RGB discussion, I personally like that it doesn't have any loud colors or lights. Keep it simple. I'd highly recommend this for a new PC builder. ... show more

  • High Quality, Awesome Features, and Great Look - First PC Build
This was my first PC build, and I’m so glad I chose the MSI MAG Z690 Tomahawk. This thing is a beast! The motherboard build quality is great, it feels nice and sturdy. It also looks really good too! The quality and appearance are great ‘pros’ but the ease of use alone made this purchase worth it. There are so many ports for everything you need and more, so if you’re a newbie to this DIY PC life like I am, I definitely recommend this motherboard. ... show more

  • Decent mid-range mobo with one serious caveat.
I bought the MAG Z690 Tomahawk Wifi DDR5 version. I had the strangest issue with the shipping - this is Amazon's fault, not the manufacturer's - when it arrived it was clearly a return instead of new. The antistatic protective bag had been sliced open and it was missing the cardboard spacers that kept it from bouncing around in the box. It was missing a part or two and it had other parts bags cut open. I paid for new, not used, and I wasn't about to waste time trying it if it was shipped loose in the box. Thankfully the replacement arrived next day, and that one is working fine. I only have one complaint about this motherboard. It is supposed to have the newest Realtek ALC4080 audio chip, but MSI doesn't seem to have the software to enable DTS or Dolby, so there's no 5.1 surround out of the box with SPDIF, which is very disappointing. I have an old surround card for my old build that I am able to use that works with this new motherboard, but one of the reasons I chose this board is because it claims to support surround. It does not. I installed the Windows driver from the MSI support page for this item, but once installed, there are no options or settings for more than 2-channels with the provided driver. Maybe ALC 4080 is just too new yet? I don't know. Otherwise, it performs pretty well so far. All other features function well, and the design seems decent. ... show more

  • Great Motherboard 10 Stars
This is a we layer out board with all the options and easy to install and use. It takes anything I throw at it not one single issue fired up the first time. Running I9 with 64 megs ram 4 TB of SSD water cooler and it stay at a rock solid 30 c. Note the MSI case came with 3 fans and zi added 2 additional fan and the water cooler came with 2 so I am using 7 fans total. OK it might be overkill however I would replace fans and or power supply over the other components any day. So for me this works and runs cool. ... show more
