  • Solid, Reliable, and Feature-Packed Midrange Motherboard
Style: MSI B550-A PRO ProSeries Motherboard
The MSI B550-A PRO is an excellent motherboard for anyone building a Ryzen-based PC, especially if you want solid performance without breaking the bank. Here’s why I’m impressed: Build Quality: The board feels sturdy with quality components and good cooling solutions, including extended heatsinks on the VRMs. This helps with stable overclocking and long-term reliability. Performance: It supports Ryzen 3000 and 5000 series CPUs flawlessly, with PCIe 4.0 support for faster NVMe SSDs and next-gen GPUs. I noticed fast boot times and smooth system responsiveness. Connectivity: Plenty of USB ports, including USB-C, multiple fan headers, and M.2 slots make this board very versatile. The Realtek LAN is reliable for stable wired connections. BIOS & Software: MSI’s BIOS is user-friendly and offers plenty of tweaking options for beginners and enthusiasts alike. The software suite is helpful for monitoring and system tuning. Value: Compared to other B550 boards, this one offers great features and solid performance at a competitive price. It’s perfect for midrange gaming rigs or workstations. Overall, if you want a dependable motherboard that won’t hold back your Ryzen CPU and offers future-proof features like PCIe 4.0, the MSI B550-A PRO is a smart choice. Highly recommended! ... show more

  • Great motherboard!
Style: MSI B550-A PRO ProSeries Motherboard
Why did you pick this product vs others?: I had to buy a new motherboard and CPU after my Seasonic power supply melted down. I've used a MSI MB's for years and they have been easy to manage and rock-solid. I don't overclock, and I run 64GB of memory, and the board had run perfectly since installation 7 months ago. BIOS upgrades are easy, and managing memory and peripherals is also simple. ... show more

  • No brainer when on a budget, perfect mobo.
Style: MSI B550-A PRO ProSeries Motherboard
This mobo is sturdy, reliable, long lasting, great value for the money, I had an accident while replacing a cooler and damaged a 5700X, the mobo was perfectly fine, I'm still using this now with a 5800X and is working great, good temperatures, good performance, the aesthetics of this mobo are not the best ones but come on, it is very cheap for everything you already get. ... show more

  • Great ATX Motherboard for Performance System
Style: MSI B550-A PRO ProSeries Motherboard
The motherboard was easy to install in my existing system case upgrading the processor, memory, and dGPU. Installed a Ryzen 9 5900, 64GB DDR4-3200, 1TB M.2 2080 PCIe 4x4 SSD, and an RTX 4070 in one system. The other system was a Ryzen 9 3900, 32GB DDR4-3200, 512GB M.2 2080 PCIe3x4 SSD, and an RTX 4070. There's a heat-spreader for the M.2! It requires some patience on first boot since the FW seems to "think" a long time without writing to the screen, but it eventually came to the BIOS splash screen. I did update the BIOS to the latest version right away since the shipping version was outdated (may have been fine but why take chances). The BIOS update procedure is simple--just download, unzip to a connected drive, boot to the UEFI BIOS, go to update BIOS mode, reboot, and point to the BIOS file on the connected drive. The update process will finish up and the system will reboot. I did have to set the memory speed to the profile to support its speed--it did not automatically choose the correct JDEC/XMP profile for 1600MHz/3200MT/s. After installing Windows 11 Pro and my application/utility suites, the system has been stable through some very heavy use: transcoding videos with CPU and GPU using Handbrake, creating/editing videos using DaVinci Resolve, editing photos with Lightroom/ACR/Photoshop, and running a range of development and productivity applications. CPU-z confirms that PCIe is running at Gen4 speeds, and the memory is running at the correct profile/speed. In all, the motherboard is a good value for the performance and stability that it delivers. ... show more

  • Great Board, Wish It Had Integrated IO Shield
Style: MSI B550-A PRO ProSeries Motherboard
I ran into a situation where I received a defective motherboard and had to replace it quick. I found this option on Amazon, and after some quick research, went ahead and pulled the trigger. The first thing I checked was the LTT Motherboard VRM Tier List, where this motherboard ranked in Tier A, the same tier as the well regarded MSI B550 Mag Mortar. The Mag Mortar ranked slightly above average whereas the B550-A Pro ranked average in the same tier, but there isn't a whole lot of difference at the end of the day. VRM temps are important for the overall capacity of the motherboard, in terms of processor ability and cooling. I don't run high end processors, but I like high tier VRMs for cooler running temps and better longevity. The motherboard has a USB C front panel header, which is a need for many with newer cases. The motherboard seems to have a good finish, and the VRMs are heatsinked which is what matters most to me. The NVMe SSD comes with an integrated heatsink as well, which is necessary for many Gen 4 NVMe SSDs. The BIOS options are fairly standard as far as MSI goes. I don't play around with anything past enabling XMP and tuning fan curves, both of which I was able to do easily with this motherboard. There are RGB headers on the motherboard, another feature that many people look for these days. I hooked up an integrated LED strip in the case I was using (Fractal Torrent Compact) and it worked just fine. The only issue I have with this motherboard is the detached IO shield. I thought I had double checked during installation that none of the grounding tabs had slipped down in front of ports during installation, but I was wrong. I had the whole computer built before finding out that one of the USB ports was obstructed. I was able to remedy the issue without removing everything, but it was still frustrating. I'd pay an extra $10 to have the IO shield attached to the motherboard permanently so I wouldn't have to worry about this- that would still slot this motherboard coming in below $150, still leaving it at a great price, especially since the Mortar can't be found as readily anymore. Would I buy it again? Without a doubt. I'll probably buy one for the next build I do, making sure to triple check the IO panel this time before installing the remaining components. A+ ... show more
