I have one sitting in the fireplace in the living room next to my electric log heater as we decided to stop using it as a wood burning one. It came with crackle sounds, but it didn't sound realistic. So we turned the sound off and bought this and love it. So much so, my husband bought me a second one for my electric fireplace stove. I searched and searched for a good quality sound box & this is it! I'm a very pleased with its HD sound and all the choices you have for fire sound crackles. Also, the loop is quite long. If you are on the fence, go ahead and buy this. You wont be sorry!

As with a lot of electronic products these days, the instructions left a lot to be desired. One of the things that I found out the hard way was that this thing will emit a loud alarm when the battery is low. I hadn't realized that I wasn't completely turning it off. I was awakened from a sound sleep a couple of times by this thing until I realized how to turn it off. Initially, I was skeptical because I thought that I would always be able to tell that it's fake, however, it really works quite well. No one so far who has heard it has thought that it was anything other than actual fireplace sounds. You do have to kind of find the sweet spot though of all of the different variations. I bought this because I love the sound of a cracking fire. My electric fireplace did not come with that ability. I did a lot of research and decided on this product and so glad I did. I like that it is rechargeable. I hate buying and recycling batteries. Charging was quick. The different settings that are nice and should make people with different tastes in sound happy. The sound it makes works great for adding realism for my electric fireplace. The problem is that it just stops working for no apparent reason. I even contacted the seller/manufacturer by email. They didn't know why it stopped. So I got a replacement from Amazon since it was a holiday purchase and failed before the end of January. Got the replacement on January 5th. It failed yesterday (Feb 14) exactly the same way as its predecessor. I give up. ... show more
