Delivered two days ago and I installed it yesterday, so this is not applicable to long term use but for the DIY process. I have no special set of skills for HVAC but was able to install this and make it operational in less than a day, completely by myself. After a couple quotes from HVAC sellers, I decided to save over $2000 and buy/install MRCOOL. It wasn't necessarily intuitive or easy, but by going slow, watching a couple videos, and following the instructions one step at a time, it was doable. I installed this mini split in my office, which is set up in a portable building, and it has been absolutely perfect. It keeps the temperature exactly where I want it—cool in the summer and warm in the winter—with no fluctuations. It’s also extremely quiet, which is great when I’m working. My handyman mentioned that the installation was very straightforward, and it didn’t take long to get everything up and running. The ac is ok. I did a lot of research before buying so that I got the correct size unit and that I wasn't getting a terrible brand. I didn't want to spend an extra grand for one of the top notch brands so I went with Mr cool. Unfortunately I do regret doing that. On really hot days (85+) the unit struggles to keep my room cool. It does knock the heat down on the room but it doesn't get the temperature down where it should be. For anyone reading this I would definitely recommend just spending a little extra money and going with the top end brands. I know installation will probably cost more also but at least you'll have a unit that performs correctly. ... show more

    • Both units developed leaks within a couple years

We bought one and it developed a leak in the inside coil after about a year, it cost $300 for the shipping cost for them to ship us a "free" replacement under warranty. And that one also failed with the same type of leak after a couple years. Now they no longer make that model condenser, so the whole system is worthless. We ended up switching to a higher quality Mitsubishi mini split with a ten year warranty. It's not worth saving a few bucks and ending up with an A/C that only lasts a few years. ... show more
