Well, so far….so wonderful! We watched videos and read the instruction, first of all. Hubby then laid out all the parts and they were all intact, well packed too. He then poured a concrete pad for the outside compressor and allowed it to dry and cure. Once he knew everything was ready, he took his time, a few hours, and installed the unit. WOW, AMAZING! Both inside and outside units are whisper quiet; can’t really hear the inside unit on the other side of the room. When I returned home from work, we installed the USB unit so we could control the system remotely from the app and from Alexa….this is great! Please be sure you take your time and follow instructions. Watch some YouTube videos, good ones, because there are definitely some lousy ones that will get you into trouble during install. All said and done? The install was easy and this unit will save you so much money because you don’t need to hire a pro. Cooling and Heating is so comfortable, without blowing hard or loudly into the room. The fan mode works well, as well. Right now I canno say enough about this system….wish we would’ve purchased this years ago. Good luck and I hope you enjoy your Mr. Cool as much as we do. Will add indoor pics soon. UPDATE: We’ve been using this unit daily and are absolutely impressed! We live in the desert so this time of year morning temps are in the 40s and daytime in the 80s, therefore we use AC and heat in the same day and this Mr. Cool is impressive, to say the least. I’m so hoping it is quality and holds up because we’re so happy with this purchase.

Was quoted $4K - $5K for a new mini-split from a local HVAC contractor which wasn't in my budget, so i figured i would give this Mrcool unit a try. So far I am very happy with this system! It worked flawlessly on initial powerup. I had some difficulty trying to get the wireless function to connect with the app on my phone, but after 4 tries it finally worked (Love this feature)! Installation was fairly simple for someone with mechanical skils. Instructions were very detailed but there was one flaw I found that should be addressed in the process. They state after you have tightened the copper connections, to do a leak test. Then they tell you to cover the connections with the supplied tape. Later in the instructions after yoou start up the system for the first time, they tell you to check the piping connections for leaks again. Well, that's difficult to do since you've already wrapped the connections with tape! I would suggest not wrapping up the connections until after startup in order to recheck the connections as suggested in the instructions. I still am very impressed with the system and it's easy self install, saved a bunch money! Now we'll see how durable it is for the long haul, i'll update with any issues at a later date.

I am handy, but never installed a heat pump before. I am pleased to say the MrCool DIY product installation was a success. Spending the extra $$ for the efficiency seems worthwhile, and both the interior and exterior unit are surprisingly quiet. The Internet device was also easy to install and use (but I wish it had Apple Home support). This product still gets top stars for my review, but here are some tips to be helpful to others: - The cardboard template was a bit off, specifically regarding the cutout hole. This left the unit tipsy, so it leaked on the left side; the solution was to rehang the interior unit based on the outgoing pipes that forced the unit up. - I purchased an HVAC torque wrench ($95), but in hindsight I could have probably estimated the tightening. - I was worried about bending the cables, but it turned out OK as long as I was careful. - The exterior duct cover came with 90° bends, but frankly this is wrong since the drainage line should always have some declination. My solution was to add an angle in the horizontal exterior run. The attached picture shows the unit mostly installed before adding vinyl wrapping to the coiled items. I am planning on screwing the unit to the stone supports, but need a mortar drill bit. Overall, my out-of-pocket costs (<$2K) are significantly less than the professional estimates ($5K-$6K). Easy install but the customer service and overall company are a red flag. You're better off buying from a well known company with a stronger reputation that can be serviced by technicians more easily.

The unit showed up early, and although the box was punctured, the insides were fine. I took my time and read the installation manual about 8 times before starting. Not everything is covered in the manual, but was is in there is very well written and mostly easy to understand. Nothing in the manual about running tubing out the sides of the indoor unit, but one call to customer service confirmed it is set up to do that. (Why don't they explain that in the install manual?) I ended up running mine out the back. It would be nice if they explained how to actually attach the UV tape. It has no sticky back, so one is left to improvise. A little guidance would help. The drain hose they supply is very flimsy. I purchased the outdoor bracket from Amazon. JEACENT Outdoor Wall Mounting Bracket for Ductless Mini Split Air Conditioner Heat Pump Systems, Universal, 7000-18000 Btu Condenser. Otherwise, it as not hard to do most of the install myself (with a helper for last day), and it took 2.5 days total. Take your time, double check everything. UPDATE after 4 months. I am very pleased with my Mr. Cool unit. It's very quiet and hasn't increased my electric bill very much as far as I can tell. I've left it running for a month straight during this very hot summer in SC, and set at 76deg my shop is cold.
