First thing I noticed was how heavy and solid the metal construction is, like a machinist's tool should be. Action is a bit stiff but that's ok. One thing I would take issue with is the sharp edges on basically every corner of the metal. This is a hand tool and should be easy on the hands. It needs a good de-burring all around. I put it on a shop buffing wheel for five minutes to smooth all the edges. You could probably use a metal file. Next small complaint is the small diameter of the pencil holder. You can fit a normal #2 wood pencil in there, and that is about it. I don't have any mechanical pencils or pens that will fit. I prefer a roller pen and ended up shaving the plastic down so it would fit. Photo shows after edge buffing. Next is that it seems to be uncoated steel. I will probably put a bit of spray lacquer on it to stop it rusting. ... show more
