  • Great calipers, well made
Can't go wrong with Mitutoyo!

  • Mitutoyo 505-743
Great caliper from Mitutoyo even if it’s not made in Japan anymore, it is still accurate enough for dimensional inspection and machine shop use. (0.001+-) Do keep in mind this model does NOT have the titanium nitrate (TiN) coating as wrongly stated in the item description.

  • Very well made with repeatable accuracy
Like all Mitutoyo equipment, this dial caliper is very well made even though it was not actually manufactured in Japan. It has excellent repeatable accuracy and is easy to read.

  • Made in Brazil not Japan, but the expected quality is there
I'd read other reviews citing that these are made in Brazil not Japan so when it arrived I tested it for accuracy & repeatability using some known gauges. It appears that Mitutoyo has maintained the quality they're known for.

  • Dropped from 5 star to 1 star
This is an update...I have now owned these for less than a year. They are no longer usable. The plastic slide "stop" randomly falls out. I have replaced it 3 times. A few days ago i was measuring something just under 8" and when I opened the calipers up to accomodate I butted up to the stop (gently) and of course it popped out and I didnt notice until the next time I opened the calipers and everything slid apart. Now, of course I can put it back together and replace the stop again. But I'm done. Mitutoyo used to be decent quality for a decent price. But the quality has gone down and the price has stayed the same. The days of being able to keep your machinist tools for decades is apparently coming to an end. ... show more

  • Nice calipers
Great calipers. Unlike others mine are from Japan. Look good, good smooth action. Better than my made in China Starrett calipers.

  • made in japan
easy read dial, movement is very smooth, if you wipe them down and don't drop them they should last a lifetime.

  • Good to go.
Was surprised they aren’t made in Japan anymore. So far, so good.
