To light the unit, simply push and rotate the knob. The built in Piezo sparking mechanism will take care of the rest. The media could not be loaded. Very easy to use, made well. Doesn't get hot at the bottom, making it pretty safe for indoor use even on rugs or carpet, although definitely avoid that if possible, just in case. Lights easily, tip over safety works well. Doesn't tip easily in the first place. Solid but not heavy. Hooks to bigger tanks for longer use. Puts out a good amount of heat for the size. Guard rails are pretty sturdy. Runs off 1x or 2x small 1lb tanks. 2x is needed for use on High though. Overall a very good portable propane fueled infrared heater. I would definitely recommend. Only 1x CON & that's the price. I install automotive films mobile and need a temperature controlled work space. This heater has been excellent in medium to large garages and being that it needs no electricity makes it a huge bonus for me. I opted for the quick connect hose, and hooked it to a 20lb tank because the small tanks didn't last long at all at medium to high heat.     • NICE BUT TOOK THE FAN OUT
Bought this one because we thought it was like the one we had. Not sure why we had to pay more money for it, thought we were paying additional for the small fan that is in the older one that we bought a year or so ago. Works good when we lose our power.

Putting the one pound propane bottles was easy. Closing the side covers gave a clean look to the heater. Also, bought the hose and filter to use with larger tanks, but the hose does not connect as discretely. As for heating, the size of the stove belays the impact it has on the 200 square foot shed space. It raised the temperature of the area more than 20 degrees in minutes. We ended up returning this specific big buddy it had no fan??? Correct model number but one fan I looked like it was a manufacturing issue. Anyway bought a big buddy at tractor supply it’s awesome it kept out tent trailer toasty warm in mid teen temp 14 overnight. A little bit of condensation but I would buy it again in a heart beat ... show more

This heater is excellent indoors, but when it's outside and a little wind hits it. The flame goes out. It doesn't take much wind at all. Great emergency heat for indoor survival use tho.

I used one in San Antonio, TX on a 20 lb. tank and it worked great. I had to move and it got left behind so these are for the RV and for no electric heating that I may need. I hear that it may not be the best for an RV due to water rotting the RV from the inside out and it is too hot. I also hear that I should use a filter with the 20 lb. tank. I've never had any problems with this type of heater. ... show more
