Love this little coffee maker!

Arrived so quickly. It arrived 2-3 hours after i ordered it which was great because my current coffee maker suddenly quit working that same morning. It was a Mr. Coffee 12-cup that lasted for 13 years so I figured that i got my money's worth. So I thought I would go with Mr. Coffee brand again. Anyway, this time I decided to try the 5-cup because I no longer need a 12-cup as I now live alone. I've only had it for 3 days but so far I love it. It works great. I don't like warm coffee and this little coffee makes makes hot coffee, but not too hot to burn you. It stays hot until you turn it off. It is not programmable but that is not a feature that I'm crazy about anyway. The handle on the carafe isn't too small, just the right size. The carafe has a wide opening which makes it easy to clean and the glass carafe is just the same glass as a 12-cup, only smaller. The basket uses the 7" filters which I was already using in my old unit so I didn't have to buy new ones. I don't like the cone filters and I'm glad this one doesn't require them. I especially like that it doesn't take up as much counter space because I have a small kitchen and don't have much counter space to spare. It doesn't brew as fast as a large coffee maker but that is no problem for me. I turn it on when I get up, then go get dressed. By the time i get back to the kitchen, it is finished. It does have the pause feature if you are in a hurry. So far, I'm very pleased with this little coffee maker and don't share any of the negative reviews. I did run plain water through the unit before making my first pot of coffee to clean it through and through. There was no bad plastic smell, no smell of any kind, and no bad taste of any kind from my first brew of coffee as others have mentioned. I don't grind my own coffee beans but I use Folgers pre-ground coffee, so i don't know anything about grinding your own beans and how this would be any different. i know some people are really picky about that kind of stuff, but I am not. I am more concerned about convenience. If you like stronger coffee, just add more grounds or less water, or both as there is no adjustment on this unit to make the coffee stronger or weaker. As I have only had it for 3 days, I don't know anything about the lifespan of this unit, but so far, I am very pleased and loving the little coffee maker. I will update the review if it doesn't last long. It is perfect for small kitchens, dorm rooms, etc., and is very light wright. It looks just like a 12-cup coffee maker, only smaller, without lots of bells and whistles- just a basic coffee maker. ( I've had 2 Keurigs in the past and neither one lasted more than a year- too expensive to keep replacing every year. I won't buy anymore of those) This little unit is perfect for me. Glad I found it and hope it last a long time.

Great budget coffee maker

Great deal for under $20. The important thing is to get good filters. It brews quickly and it is a great, basic, no frills coffee maker. It's easy to clean and brews up to 6 cups if you push it. But it's the cheapest way to make good coffee in a couple of minutes and it keeps the coffee hot as long as it's on.

Initial impression - 4/5 I bought the mini brew Mr. Coffee maker to replace a 15+ year-old Hamilton Beach model that had a burned-out heating element. My initial impression was that the Mr. Coffee unit felt rather cheaply made. This is probably because the other two 5-cup coffee makers I've had were more expensive programmable units made years ago when appliances were often built more robustly. But given that heating elements often burn out before plastic breaks, this inexpensive Mr. Coffee unit is probably robust enough for the price. Appearance-wise, the unit has clean lines and an attractive design that looks good on the counter. Size - 5/5 I like that this unit is so compact and is shorter than my old coffee maker. After making coffee, I usually leave the lid open for a while to let the water tank dry. The mini Mr. Coffee fits under my kitchen cabinet, even with the lid open. Paper filters - 3/5 I have a bunch of 8-12 cup paper filters, and was a little concerned that they wouldn’t work well in this unit. The filter basket is shorter than the basket in my old unit, so the 8-12 cup filters stick up a little above the basket and can get folded over when you close the lid and the sprinkler arm swings into place. But pushing the edge of the filter down a little, then swinging the arm into place manually before closing the lid solves that problem. I'm glad I don't need to buy a different size because I didn't see any smaller filters where I usually shop. Brew pause - 5/5 I use a coffee maker’s brew pause feature to let the basket fill with water so the coffee grounds can bloom before the basket drains. This worked fine with the mini Mr. Coffee unit—no coffee leaked through even when the basket was nearly filled with water. I also tried pulling the pot out in the middle of brewing. The pause feature worked well there too, with zero to one or sometimes two drops falling onto the warming plate. Extraction - 4/5 Even with a little blooming, I thought the extraction could be better, as the coffee tasted a bit sour. Perhaps the water temperature from the sprayer could be a little higher. So I tried a finer grind, and that produced the more robust flavor that I prefer. Temperature - 5/5 After brewing a full pot, I measured the temperature of the coffee, and it was 162º F (72º C), which is good for a drip coffee maker. Pouring - 5/5 The coffee poured cleanly from the carafe, without any drips or dribbles from the spout. So overall, I’m happy with this purchase and would recommend the mini brew Mr. Coffee to anyone wanting a small, simple drip-coffee maker. Two months later, I bought a second Mini Brew for our little Casita. The unit's compact size is perfect for an RV or travel trailer.

It's a happy little Coffeepot

A coffee maker that really works. Small, convenient and darn good for the money. Purchased in 2023 and made approximately 1,080 consistently dark brew pots of coffee for me and my friends. Unfortunately, I had a fall and took it out, breaking an internal piece and it's replacement, the newest version spits grounds everywhere. Not Brand. The search is continuing.

Makes coffee! Bought this one to replace the same unit I bought three years ago and have used at least 2x/day (sometimes 3x), so we got our use out of it. Happy to see this model still being sold because we just want a coffee maker, nothing programmable, nothing that tells us the time, we just want it to make coffee. Very happy with it! Fits nicely on our countertop, brews in only a few minutes, easy to clean.

Still one of the best coffee makers

I went through at least three other coffee makers over the span of 10 years before returning back to a 5-cup Mr Coffee. What I like about it: 1. The lid flips open easily (and vertically) 2. It's the perfect size for a single or couple to use. 3. My coffee actually stays warm after it's made 4. it does NOT auto shut off - some people like me don't want this feature, as my coffee goes cold by the time I go grab another cup. Only thing I don't like and had to knock a star: The flip lid on the coffee carafe keeps falling off when I handle it. It doesn't stay in place, but that's only a problem before and after cleaning it.
