I’ve had various coffeemakers, from the cheapest to hideously expensive; ones that got great reviews and ones that got terrible reviews. This coffeemaker is super easy to use, makes great coffee, easy to clean. I like it better than any I’ve had in years. It also makes enough coffee for our crowd. As other reviewers have mentioned, the only drawback is the fact that a little bit of liquid gets trapped under the spout. This isn’t a problem at all; if you’re using the carafe to fill the reservoir, just empty the teaspoon or sof water out. If you’re pouring coffee out, just empty the teaspoon of coffee out into the sink. Re: the carafe and spout—this coffeemaker’s carafe is much better designed than any others I’ve had. Easy to use, dead simple timer setup. The only negative is the carafe. The top lip is banded with plastic, and it traps several ounces of the wash water. After I take it out of the dishwasher, I have to hold spout down for a minute or two, then tilt spout up 45° to get all the water out before you can put it in the unit.     • Big Difference between this and a basic maker
I drink my coffee black so I can always taste the difference of a cup of coffee and my wife uses cream and sugar. We had two basic makers before and upgraded to this one. It's worth the price. Creates a great taste. It's not over the top with useless functions. We do not use the reusable filter, instead we still use the basic paper filters. Looks great to. ... show more

    • Not the easiest thing to operate
I remember the old days when the home Mr. coffee first came out. You poured water in stuck the carafe under the hole turned it on and it made coffee. This thing has 1001 settings and digital number do Hokies and timers and things like that. It took us three days to figure out how to operate it. It makes decent coffee and apparently you can set a timer saw the coffee is ready when you wake up in the morning but we still haven't mastered that ... show more

    • Great coffee maker with all the features you’d expect
This coffee maker can make 1 cup or up to 14 cups and has all the features you’d expect from a modern coffee maker. My wife and I make 8 cups every morning so we’re unlikely to ever use the 1-4 cup button. You can set a time to start brewing and adjust the time the coffee is kept hot from between 1 and 4 hours. The glass carafe has a built-in lid which can be good or bad depending on your preference. Good because you can’t forget to put it on when making coffee but can make it a bit harder to clean the carafe. The lid also makes it more difficult to pour filtered water into the carafe directly from our refrigerator. The heated water is dispensed through a shower-head style spout into a flat basket-style filter versus a cone-based one, meaning the coffee produced doesn’t taste quite as bold as the cone-based maker I’m used to. I’m not too particular about my coffee so I can go either way but wanted to make sure to mention as this can make a big difference for some people. The basket does not seem to be that high of quality and I can see it needing to be replaced frequently when the thin mesh eventually tears. The power cord can sit entirely inside of the machine allowing it to be placed flush against the wall, but the large lid needs to be opened to pour in water which means you’ll have to move it if you have cabinets overhead anyway. Overall gets the job done with the features I'd expect to have in this price range. ... show more

    • Keep an eye on your coffee grounds to water ratio
We gave this coffee maker a solid, extended run as our primary hot caffeine device, taking into account the criticisms other people had as we went. TLDR: This is a perfectly serviceable drip coffee maker, but is better for stronger, smaller batches than the full carafe. We did experience some overflow of grounds into the drink when experimenting with levels and filters. One reviewer suggested replacing the basket with a cone filter, and this is definitely the way for the best-tasting brew. You’ll get the best coffee, I’m afraid, using the strong brew and smaller serving settings *together* — make what you need in the moment and this will do you very well. It’s frustrating not to be comfortable making a full carafe, but the speed at which smaller batches brew helps make up for it. Cleanup is fine. It’s fine. The additional features, like scheduling, cleaning cycle buttons, and filtration, are useful. Scheduling ahead would be more useful if the clock had a backup battery, as we unplug and replug appliances in our small kitchen, and would like not to reset the time if there’s a power outage. I’m happier with the coffee out of this than I have been with drip in a long time — the shower head is something I wish my old Mr. Coffee from college had had — but a slightly roomier basket or a built-in metal cone would be the dream here. ... show more
