This remote start kit is one of the best upgrades I've made to my 2017 Prius. I was hesitant to do the installation myself, but the instructions were surprisingly clear, and the 'plug-and-play' T-harness meant no wire splicing was needed. The whole process took about an hour. The best part is that it uses the original factory remote—just press the 'Lock' button three times, and the car starts right up. It works flawlessly every time. The car does shut off when you open the door, but that's a standard Toyota security feature and you just restart it as normal. Being able to pre-heat/cool my Prius without a monthly subscription or a new fob is fantastic. Absolutely worth the money!

Works well. Directions could be better. I used a solder connector for the connection behind the glove box after unsuccessful attempt using snap on connector.

I installed this on my girlfriend's 2021 Prius. The reviews indicating the difficulty of the install made me hesitant to purchase. However, the most difficult thing for me was just pulling power from the OBD port. I was trying to use the quick splice connectors to connect the power wiring and one of the factory wires just decided to break on me. The instructions seem overwhelming at first, but when you step back and really read through them, they made the install as simple as possible. I was very impressed. From the time I started taking off the first interior panel to putting the last panel back on, was maybe an hour.

Works great! Toyota sucks and doesn’t put remote start in many vehicles but this allowed us to get one installed. One could do it in a few hours (2-3) with a bit of electrical knowledge.

Only need to strip/tap into one wire. The rest are simple in-line connectors. Took me a leisurely 4hrs including adding the smartphone module. Much easier than the older kit I put in my 2012 prius!

So far, initial install not impressed. Description on how to access wiring (removing panels) was vague and incorrect. There ARE screws that hold the panels on AND there are clips. Wiring diagram. while detailed, does not print clearly nor does it follow the written procedures. Lots of "do not use" connectors but no description in the instructions about this. Left wondering "what did I miss?" There are apparently a number of wires that need to be hard wired but the instructions/"TIP" sheet does not say ANYTHING about them. There are photos that I am sure need to be used but no explanation why. Of course I started this on a Saturday and their customer service is closed. I'll try them again on Monday to see if they do any better.

The instruction sheet does not at any point tell you that you'll need to splice 3 wires. No video on how to splice the wires, no worded explanation in the tip sheet whats so ever. Just a wiring diagram with an image that no layman would know means "splice" these wires together. The "tip sheet" for install does not break it down barnie style enough. They need to make a video for these and make it VERY apparent before purchase that there will be wire splicing involved. Also did not provide or indicate what the proper tools would be for the splicing, I had to use my own tools. NOT an easy install for a normal person. I was able to do the splicing and get it installed but I almost returned it because of this. It works great and as expected once installed, I've only had it for 2 days though. Also for those who may not know, you should disconnect your car's 12V battery before doing the wire taping. Edit: do not buy this for 2017 Prius. The high beams and this cannot work at the same time. They both use more power than the Prius can provide. So you’ll have remote start but no high beams.
