I wanted to take my sim racing to a higher level. I had been using a Thrustmaster TX for many years and it had finally stopped working. I wasn’t really sure what all of the hype surrounding “direct drive” wheels was about…… That is until I bolted the R3 to my new rig. The performance is night and day better. The R3 is an entry level unit with 3.9Nm of torque. I was feeling a level of feedback that was much more precise and once I came to grips with it, I was beating all of my old track times! I primarily race via the Xbox Series X and this version of the R3 worked perfectly right out of the box. Setting up the R3 was fairly straightforward. MOZA has both a PC and mobile version of their Pithouse software and I found that both worked just fine. The PC version only works with the base connected to your computer but the mobile app works “on the fly” in both PC and Xbox modes allowing real time adjustments as you play. After more than a week of hard play, I can say without a doubt that the R3 is the best wheel combo that you can get for under $400! Having said that, the R3 isn’t perfect. In Xbox mode, you are limited to the basic button controls. This means that half of the buttons, that you have available can not be mapped like they would when playing games on your PC. The pedals work well but I really did not like how soft the brake pedal was. Thankfully MOZA sells a mod for the brake pedal that works perfectly. When I installed it, I had much better braking control. The base can get very warm during intense play but I have not had any issues where it stopped working. The biggest thing that I dislike is the differences between the PC and mobile versions of Pithouse. Going from the PC version to the mobile version is a confusing mess. Many of the mobile app settings are not in the same locations as the PC version and in several cases they are not even worded the same! This had me searching the internet many times trying to figure out what setting in the PC version corresponded to the mobile version. This issue needs to be fixed and it will drive you crazy at first! Lastly, the mobile app refuses to work on an apple ipad. The page formatting is wrong so you can not get past the terms of service agreement because you can’t check the silly box. It works fine on the phone though. I would really like to have a working version for tablets as it makes everything easier to see and navigate. Registration also does not work by phone if you live outside of China so do yourself a favor and register with an email. Despite these issues, I still love the R3 and would recommend it to anyone looking to upgrade or get into sim racing beyond a game controller. ... show more

I came from a pxn cheap $80 wheel, AND WHAT AN UPGRADE! I love this wheel for everything, like farming sim, assetto corsa, beamng, and forza horizon 5 on steam. I’m a PC player and this is super easy to use. Because I’m on PC I use the MOZA software app that is a free essential software that you can modify your settings like speed of the wheel ffb, amount of ffb. And the maximum rotation of the wheel. Not to mention how awesome the service of MOZA is. I first ordered the non Xbox r3 and had to return it because for me it didn’t work on forza horizon 5. I ordered this wheel and Forza worked perfectly when plugged in (only steam version when on pc, at least for me). When I returned the non Xbox r3 they had great one to one service. Only bad thing is that the screw in plate didn’t fit my rig, but that’s not really MOZA’s fault ... show more

    • Xbox x review detailed for a newer sim racer.
Skip to the bottom for the negative First this is a good wheel base for the price especially in the limited Xbox market. My review is based on use on a Xbox x. The base is way smaller than I expected it to be especially compared to my G920. Even though the Nm aren’t that much higher compared to the G920 I definitely noticed the difference between the two. The wheel feels smoother and quicker. I love the haptics the G920 sort of feels like shoes in a dryer at times but the R3 feels way more realistic, the wheel reacted quicker and felt like what I saw on screen. I tested with the original rim but I upgraded to the GT/F1 rim at the time of purchase and that was the right decision for me. The original rim is really small but so are most stock ones in general. It felt kinda cheap but I use gloves so if you do to that doesn’t matter. Buttons feel and look good love that it came with labels and detail stickers. I like the pedals and the ability to place them where you want. The flat design I wasn’t sure about but it hasn’t been an issue. I will put some kind of grip tape on it however. I definitely recommend getting the brake pedal mod or just upgrade the brake pedal and use it stock one as a clutch or sell it to recoup some money. To the hand the brake pedal felt ok but as soon as I went to set it up on the software I knew it was going to need a fix the G920 pedals felt better for feel to me. Keep in mind with this bundle you can upgrade all of it. The Bad with this wheel and why it’s not a 5 star 1 the software you need to set it up out of the box before using. If it all went smoothly that could have swung my rating. You MUST connect it to a computer to set up first. I haven’t tried the app yet because all the reviews i found about this bundle said it caused issues even after using a computer first. My problem with the computer software was as soon as i got through the initial setup it went to recalibrate the wheel and forced closed locking my base in upgrade mode. They have a fix for this but it definitely wasn’t a fun experience. I got it to work but apprehensive to have to adjust anything in the future. The biggest reason I give this 4 stars is the desk clamp! Whoever came up with that design needs to go out in the field and use the product. The clap itself is tall but the clamping bolts are at least twice as long as they need to be. I’m not sure what a desk looks like where they designed this. I recommend getting an aftermarket on or know your space needs for your legs. I modified mine with some 8mm 1.25 course bolts and threaded collar. Until i decide on a new mount that fits my need. This is another added cost after the bundle. Sorry this was a long review but as I didn’t see any of this information in one place before I got it i wanted to make sure the next person could. Nothing in this setup is bad and I am now happy with my purchase but things I would have done differently had i known before. Excellent entry level setup. Been using it every day since delivery. FFB is good for now on a stand. Will definitely upgrade to v12 once I get a better rig setup. Nice thing is all wheel bases will work on Xbox if you use the Xbox wheel. Pedals are decent too. I’m planning on getting the brake mod and the alien mods load cell mod. Or just get the SRP pedals for about the same price. Again will upgrade to crp2 pedals with better rig. Right now I’ve only used it with ACC. Obviously so much better game experience than controller use. Plan on trying F1 once I grab the formula wheel mod. I recommend downloading the app to dial in the setup. Force feedback worked at first then quit working it’s a very complicated setup for Xbox and it doesn’t even work properly I’m going to send this hair pulling piece of equipment back and get the logitech
