  • For making my own Snoring Reducer
I use leather needles and thread (also purchased from Amazon) to sew the bottom one further forward than the top one. For my first trial I used a regular needle and dental floss. To avoid snoring surgery, a device to keep the jaw forward is what the Ear Nose and Throat Otolaryngologist will prescribe for you if you snore: such a device holds your jaw farther forward to keep your tongue from vibrating in your throat. Through the doctor, $300. I tried buying one at CVS for $40 but it went too far back along my molars which made me gag. With these I can trim them so only the front teeth are engaged. To be clear: this product is not designed to stop snoring. You can build a snore-reducing device yourself by sewing the top and bottom together. When you sew together it is trial and error so buy a dozen to experiment with. The pieces you cut off can be used as shims/spacers to also keep your mouth open for more oxygen as you sleep. I am on my third set. My wife is pleased. The first one I built took me four hours. Second one two hours. Third one thirty minutes. This brand works well. You don't need to heat or mold at all. For my first device I bought another brand. All plastic mouth guards will work. I like this one because you can get a two-pack or an eight-pack. ... show more

  • Size question for first time user
Not wanting to pay almost $800 to replace my NTI this product was recommended. I have never used a mouthguard in sports so the molding process was a new experience with foreign instructions (use chopstick??) I have a small mouth, so I tried the child size first. The process was pretty simple, but I wasn't sure if I was supposed to bite the softened guard, or just push it to the top of my mouth with my tongue. I bit down forming grooves on both sides. I then tried the adult sized guard to see if that was better for me. I'm guessing this size was too big for my mouth because as I tried to mold it, the right side caved in and became a "big globby mess" (see attached photo.) I am still not sure if it was too big initially because the resulting product is too bulky-awkward to try on again. I'll likely play with the remaining two guards to see what works best. So glad there were two of each size in this package! I used the child sized guard that night. It worked fine but because it was new to my mouth I kept investigating it while trying to get to sleep. I really wished I had left the bottom smooth without biting during the molding. Biting created too many grooves to probe. I had no problems after I fell asleep however, so I guess it's good go! One night in and this product is definitely worth the cost of trying. ... show more

  • Strange size/painful
So this comes with 2 sizes. What I take as their "regular"and large. I have a horrible issue with grinding and clenching my jaw when I sleep so I wanted to give these a try the price was pretty decent I thought the reviews were pretty decent I'm not a large person I have a normal size mouth and the regular size does not work well for me in fact I had to go back to using my old one because it actually hurt my mouth it molded terrific in the hot water like they're supposed to but it doesn't go back far enough on my mouth it's almost as if it was meant for a child size guard the large is what I'm having to use now and that goes almost to where my back molars are should have been the other one goes only halfway so I wake up and I've got pain around my gum area on the top as well as towards the front just not enough coverage for what I need super small I can't see them really fitting anything other than a teenager possibly or child. ... show more

  • Works!
I ordered mouth guards from two different companies. The DAV by far was better. Instructions were clear. The mouth guard fits perfectly and is quite comfortable. The trick is to let the boiling water cool for a bit and do use a slatted wooden spoon to pick it up out of the water. My other brand said to use a fork and the fork totally misshaped the guard. With the DAV I didn't have a thermometer so I guessed on the water temp after letting it cool from a boil. 15 seconds in the water was perfect - you don't want it to melt. Popped it in my mouth and pushed my around my gums through my skin to make the perfect fit. Took it out and ran it under cold water. I'd rather start with this than pay my dentist $1800 for a digital imprint of my mouth and all the bruhaha that goes along with it $$$$$ Don't know how long it will last - I guess that all depends on how hard one grinds their teeth. Nice carrying case and extra guards too. ... show more

  • Would not advise using these or any kind like it.
Just be smart and get an expensive one at a dentist. It will benefit you in the long run, trust me. In many cases these will make clenching and make teeth movement worse overtime. I've had cases where I got these things to mold perfectly, but still the clenching problem remained and got worse. It only made my TMJ and clenching worse overtime. While it does protect the teeth, it is not worth it when it comes down to it. Be wise and get one custom fitted from a dentist. Would not recommend for that reason alone. While these will work temporarily, but should only be used until you can get one from a dentist. ... show more
