    • Great alternative for extra cooling

This is a great alternative for people who don’t have central AC or need extra cooling in any room. Noise level is low and the unit is easy to install. It requires drainage from time to time, but you can avoid this step by putting the unit on top of a small table ( this way is higher than the ground) and put the drainage hose into a bucket, OR if you own the place and want to drill a hole, you can do that too. ( as shown in the video). I recommend this method, because it’s carefree, but had the bucket before drilling the hole and it worked well. ... show more

This air conditioner? Solid. Blows cold air like a beast, keeps the room chill even when the sun’s trying to roast everything alive, and runs like a machine built to win. Because it is. Now let’s talk about the reviews crying about the “noise.” Noise? You mean the gentle hum of cold air saving your sweaty existence? The soft purr of functionality? Grow up. Reading some of these complaints, you’d think this AC was doing donuts in their living room. Spoiler: it’s not. It’s functioning. You know, like a machine with moving parts. If the mild whir of an air conditioner is your villain origin story, you’ve got bigger problems than temperature control. This isn’t a spa. It’s not whispering bedtime stories. It’s a hard working appliance that’s not here to coddle your hypersensitive ears. Bottom line, this AC is excellent. Reliable, powerful, and built for people who live in the real world. UPDATE: I just got a months electric bill. This ac' electric is costing way way way more than expected. It's supposed to have a $108 estimated yearly cost (3 months of use at 8 hours a day) at 13 cents kwh rate. My electric rate is only 9 cents kwh. My normal bill is $60 to $70 a month consistently. I only added this ac as a new electronic and my bill went up to $180. That's an extra $110 to $120 A MONTH, NOT YEARLY. So according to them my ac would have to run a full month straight at 13 cents kwh for it to cost $108. Tell me how does it cost over the yearly estimated cost for a month when my rate is at 9 cents kwh in a 210 square ft bedroom. I would estimate it being on 8 to 10 hours a day some days and others less. Something isn't right. I absolutely do not recommend just because of the electric cost. OLD: You should know I like Mideas but recently I have had problems. Right away I noticed that it won't shut off when the desired temperature is reached on auto or comfort sense. This is the 3rd midea I had problems with like that. I don't know if its a bad circuit board or thermostat or relay or maybe they are just making them like this now. Also make sure your remote settings match the units settings. E.g. If your remote says fan and the unit says cool if you use the remote to change the temp it will change the unit to fan as well, so make sure the remote shows the settings you want. Also in less than a 18 hour period I had this running and I emptied 2 buckets of water. I had to put the drain on because the gurgling water sound was getting pretty annoying. I'm not sure if this how they are made now or if all the different ones I have gotten are faulty, but I don't think I'm gonna be trying another one. Update: I got an 18 gallon pot for the drainage that I am emptying every 20 to 36 hours. It is not humid or moist in my room at all so Idk what is going on with this ac. It definitely should have a drainage hose leading out side or down a drain because I have had it overflow on me a couple of times now. Also the exhaust hose doesn't come with a screen so bugs can just get in very easily. I had a bird trying to make a nest in it as well. Luckily I have a screen window so I just had to close it. ... show more

    • A Cool Breeze, But a Roaring Sleeper

I recently purchased the Midea portable air conditioner hoping for a convenient and effective way to cool my space, especially during those warm nights. While it certainly delivers on the cooling front and its portability is a definite plus, there's one significant drawback that prevents me from giving it a higher rating: the noise level, particularly in "sleep mode." Setting up the unit was straightforward, and it quickly started blowing noticeably cool air, effectively lowering the temperature in my room. The different fan speeds and modes offer good flexibility for various cooling needs. Its compact design also makes it easy to move between rooms, which is a great advantage for those without central air. However, the moment I switched it to "sleep mode," my hopes for a quiet night's rest were quickly dashed. While I understand that air conditioners generate some noise, the Midea unit, even in its supposed quietest setting, produces a surprisingly loud and consistent hum that's more akin to a low-level industrial fan than a bedroom appliance. It's not a gentle white noise; it's a prominent, intrusive sound that makes falling asleep, and staying asleep, a real challenge. Overall value good, but not as quiet as I expected. The unit arrived ahead of initial estimate in good condition. Was packaged well and no damage to container or product. Easy to assemble hose and get running as well the build quality is good. I like the oscillating vent and features are what I expected.
