Very nice AC! We have a larger apartment, but we found that having this in our living room (where we spend most of our time) and keeping a fan in our room keeps the entire place cool! Also, not so loud that we have to turn our TVs' volume up. I appreciate that I can turn this on via the Midea App on my phone. I typically will turn it on an hour or so before I get home, so we don't have it running all day. Listen I hate writing negative reviews but I saw all the negative reviews on here and thought they just didn’t know how to set it up. NO. Genuinely it worked for not even a week then completely burnt out. Smelling of burnt plastic and it being extremely hot to the touch. It WAS working amazing but eventually it stopped draining as much water and then nothing. Which most likely caused it to overheat. Temperature hitting 99 degrees as well. Thank god for Amazon customer support because their support response time was horrible. I had to get everything settled with Amazon because they were just useless. Returned and bought a window unit. Reading some of these complaints, you’d think this AC was doing donuts in their living room. Spoiler: it’s not. It’s functioning. You know, like a machine with moving parts. Overall value good, but not as quiet as I expected. The unit arrived ahead of initial estimate in good condition. Was packaged well and no damage to container or product. Easy to assemble hose and get running as well the build quality is good. I like the oscillating vent and features are what I expected.     • Great alternative for extra cooling

This is a great alternative for people who don’t have central AC or need extra cooling in any room. Noise level is low and the unit is easy to install. It requires drainage from time to time, but you can avoid this step by putting the unit on top of a small table ( this way is higher than the ground) and put the drainage hose into a bucket, OR if you own the place and want to drill a hole, you can do that too. ( as shown in the video). I recommend this method, because it’s carefree, but had the bucket before drilling the hole and it worked well. ... show more

    • Comfort and Quality without Compromise

I recently bought two Midea 8,500 BTU and one Midea 12,000 BTU ASHRAE portable air conditioners and couldn’t be more pleased with them. The smaller units are installed in our kids’ bedrooms, each of which is roughly 12×14 in size, while the larger unit is in our master bedroom, which is 18×20. We chose this approach because our home, built in 2005, is a two-story house relying on a single 5-ton HVAC system to cool over 3,000 sq. ft. I recently had the capacitor replaced, and the main HVAC still works great despite its age. Nonetheless, our kids have endured a decade of summers sleeping in rooms that stayed around 76–77 degrees at night, while the first floor hovered closer to 74 degrees. Since we plan to sell within the next year, rather than spending $5–12K on major HVAC work, we invested under $1K to solve the problem. The build quality, features, and sizes of these Midea units are amazing! I also appreciate the quality of the window kits and am blown away by the feature-rich SmartHome app, which works both on our home Wi-Fi and remotely.     • A Cool Breeze, But a Roaring Sleeper

I recently purchased the Midea portable air conditioner hoping for a convenient and effective way to cool my space, especially during those warm nights. While it certainly delivers on the cooling front and its portability is a definite plus, there's one significant drawback that prevents me from giving it a higher rating: the noise level, particularly in "sleep mode." Setting up the unit was straightforward, and it quickly started blowing noticeably cool air, effectively lowering the temperature in my room. The different fan speeds and modes offer good flexibility for various cooling needs. Its compact design also makes it easy to move between rooms, which is a great advantage for those without central air. However, the moment I switched it to "sleep mode," my hopes for a quiet night's rest were quickly dashed. While I understand that air conditioners generate some noise, the Midea unit, even in its supposed quietest setting, produces a surprisingly loud and consistent hum that's more akin to a low-level industrial fan than a bedroom appliance. It's not a gentle white noise; it's a prominent, intrusive sound that makes falling asleep, and staying asleep, a real challenge.
