Description

“David knows how to tell a story.” — Darren (a reader in New York) This book isn’t just for motorcyclists. It’s for anyone who DREAMS of doing something magical but gets stuck in EXCUSES and SELF-DOUBTS. It’s for anyone who needs encouragement to do that SOMETHING they’ve always wanted to do but haven’t. Here’s what one reader said: “I’m not a motorcycle guy, but I thoroughly enjoyed this book! David’s humor and easy writing style made it easy to follow along on this great adventure. It’s motivating and inspiring and makes you realize that friendship, spending time in nature, and meeting new people are the best parts of life—and that excuses are dream killers. — Jimmy (a reader in Alabama) Motorcycle Dream Ride is bigger than a play-by-play account of two guys riding their motorcycles to Alaska and back. It’s a story about exploration, perseverance—and friendship. It’s a story about two friends doing something they had made excuses not to do for years. It’s also a story about silencing the “I can’t do that” inner voice that lives in all of us. I wrote this book so Mike and I can remember what we experienced along the way—the people we met and the challenges we overcame. But bigger than that, I wrote this book to challenge you to LIVE YOUR BIG DREAM. — David Mixson Motorcycle Dream Ride is the second book in the "Motorcycle Smarts" book series. Read more

  • More than a guidebook, this book has a heart and soul.
I am using my wife's account for kindle as all of our kindle reading is done under one account. That being the case I rarely post a review beyond a star rating. I enjoyed this book so much I thought it was worth the effort. The author did an excellent job of chronicling his Dream Ride and injecting it with just enough of himself and his best friend to bring it to life. The photos truly enhanced the read and make you want to get out and ride yourself. Well done sir! ... show more

  • Enjoyable read
I enjoyed reading this story of two friends who take a fast-paced motorcycle trip from Alabama to Alaska and back. It was well-written and even a bit inspirational. It makes me want to plan a "Dream Ride" myself. Hope they are our speaking about their trip. • Great story, great adventure
Reading this really made me feel like I was along for the ride, without it getting too bogged down in the details. As a rider myself, David does a great job describing the challenges of their trip along with the joys.

  • Well written and impeccably edited.
I have read quite a few books in this genre and enjoyed this one. A two night read from start to finish. My first long road trip was in a 1986 Ninja 600, not ideal for a long journey, but being young, in my early 20's I don't recall giving that much thought. Then again my first was about 1200 miles round trip. My only criticism is a grown man watching Big Bang, geeeeeky. Good read, checked out some if the site. I like to have complete control, so this repeated ad nauseam pitch for government mandated electronics could at least include some of the cons. ... show more

  • Just WHAT I NEEDED TO HEAR
I’m a motorcyclist first, and an adventure rider second. I have been riding motorcycles for some 57 years. Just writing that gives me pause. I’ve only recently owned a n adventure bike and done that kind of riding. First across the country from Michigan to Baja California Mexico, and then all over Baja camping in the mountains, deserts and beaches with my little dog as my only companion. I’ve dreamed of riding to the southern tip of South America and back, but have not due to a lack of a riding partner. I won’t let that stop me any longer. I’m going to start planning my solo adventure right now. This book has given me the push that I needed. I’ll be 69 or 70 during this ride but I’m up to it physically and mentally. I can’t wait! P.S. This is posted in my late wife’s name, as our Amazon account was in her name. ... show more

  • Well written and entertaining
Really enjoyed reading this. Only “complaint” is the pics were b&w, but that didn’t detract from the story. Well done!

  • Better than your average motorcycle adventure book
This is an honest narrative of the author's first long distance motorcycle ride. He reveals his innermost thoughts and fears. There's no braggadocio and no bashing of motorcycle brands. He admits his faults and the occasional tension between himself and his riding companion. If you've never ridden a motorcycle to Alaska and are considering it - this is a book you should read and learn from. ... show more
