Install is just like for an ordinary lamp fixture. Simple and straightforward. lamp looks great and functions as advertised. I like that it comes on at dusk at a lower brightness but then when triggered by motion out goes to full brightness. One note on that is that although it goes to full brightness they are NOT like a security type motion light that makes the whole area look like daylight. They are more like a courtesy light that increases in brightness so you can still see as your walking towards your front door. If your looking for a light that acts like you just triggered defcon 4 at a nuclear facility and a swat team is about to rush out to take down the bad guy this isn't your light fixture. Go look for security light. If your looking for a nice classy light that will automatically turn on every night and brighten nicely so you can see where you're walking and get out house keys than these should work great for you. ... show more

Very nice contemporary look lanterns for a reasonable price. I hired an electrician to install, and there were no issues, very easy. The dusk to dawn feature was important, and it works great! The lower brightness is subtle, and it will turn on automatically when it gets dark. When triggered by motion it increases to full brightness. As noted by another reviewer, these are NOT like security type motion lights that brighten to look like daylight. They are lights that offer classy illumination to my walkway, and front door. We used to have wall-mounted dusk-to-dawn motion sensor LED sphere lights aimed at our front door knob. Okay, except for the need to replace C-cell batteries about once a year. With this porch light, hard-wired, motion-sensing, dusk-to-dawn lighting and compatible modern design, our home security is now present without any occasional attention. Next, we're thinking of placing another order for our back door, to replace incandescent dusk-to-dawn, motion-sensing flood lights. The light is pretty straightforward for installation. easily fit in the replace light receptacle. The interesting part is the dimmer and motion. there's no buttons on the light, everything is controlled by your light switch. Make sure you have a dimmable bulb. if not while the light comes on when you 1st turn it on it goes out and doesn't work dusk to dawn or motion but you can manually switch it on.. This lamp is the upgraded version that has a setting that allows the lamp to stay off day and night until motion is detected after dark. This eliminates wasteful power consumption as well as light pollution. Not many lamps are designed this way but this listing made it clear without me having to read through all the specs, Q&As and reviews. The lamp looks good and works perfectly. Installation required a trip to the hardware store for an alternate bracket that fit the existing (1982) electrical box. The installation instructions (from China) are illustrated with a tiny drawing that was useless in my circumstances. I absolutely love these lights!! My son installed and he said it was pretty easy. I wish i had a picture in the daylight to really show them off. The sensors work wonderfully i can home tonight and the lights were on but once i came up the driveway they brightened right up. Definitely 5 ☆'s!!! I had this light installed outside a doorway and it works like a charm. I especially like the way it stays dim and only goes to full brightness when motion is sensed. The motion sensor is very effective. Just be sure to put a dimmable bulb in this light to utilize the dimming feature.

Entry door lamps can get really expensive. This one was an affordable option for a clean lines look and it has all the options I was looking for. It looks great in person. It has held very well over the last 6 months. I had to add a wedge behind when installing on my angled wood siding. I added clear waterproof caulk along the edge to help prevent water infiltration.
