This toy is loved by my cat and dog. It runs almost silently. Other automatic laser toys are noisy. I've dropped this thing several times and it has survived! So happy it's rechargeable. My animals use it so often I would be buying batteries left and right if it wasn't rechargeable. Laser works while on the charger too. It's a great item if you have a large room. I have a small place and no matter how I try to position it, the laser pointer goes all over the furniture, etc.. it doesn't have a motion detection, but if you turn it on it kicks in every two hours or so. I can use it sometimes moving tables and stuff out of the way or they jump and or race over everything at least for a few minutes until they figure out it's the same repetition and just look at it LOL!
