    • Horrible design location of front mounts.
Right where this is supposed to mount at the front of the box (on the rails under the top-sides of the box) there's a "U" cut out from the factory. In order for this to work I had to weld in 6" pieces of 1/8" steel bar so there is something physically holding the front of this to the box rails. Outside of the issue with mounting this, the only other issue was that I had to remove the weatherstripping from the last section of the cover, the piece that would sit on top of the tailgate. Due to Ford's design with lips on the plastic cover that's on top of the tailgate, it was impossible to open the tailgate with the cover closed. Even with the weatherstripping removed it is still tight, which makes opening the tailgate difficult. The cover does indeed fit and I like that it is made of metal as it ought to hold up forever. I would have liked to see machined aluminum on the clamps though instead of the plastic as I know all too well that the plastic will break in a couple of years and I likely will not be able to get replacement pieces. This stuff ought to be made to be damn near indestructible and will last far longer than this truck ever will. ... show more
