  • among others so I do know what a good knife is
Color: Black
Gotta say this is THE bread knife. I have been on a hunt for a exceptional bread knife and have been let down this knife being the only exception. I own Mac, Shun Blue Steel, Messermeister, among others so I do know what a good knife is. Problem with the bread knives are either bad bolsters poorly sharpened (being serrated that is a big issue) weird curvature and the list continues. I had lost hope of finding a decent bread knife and resided to using https://www.amazon.com/Messermeister-Meridian-Elite-Saclloped-9-Inch/dp/B000MF7J48/ not that I loved it but it came in my set and it was as good as any I had tried and returned. So I saw mora had made a bread knife this is a very old and respected company that has made knives for a very long time and is responsible for the famous Mora knife of Sweden. I then see it is made of Sandvic steel. Let me tell you a little about this steel if you are not familiar. This is some of the best high grade modern steel out there. It will easily out perform German or Japanese steel as it will hold a razor sharp edge for longer than a Japanese blade but is not prone to chipping. It the best of traditional steels with no disadvantages. The exact steel used if you run a search on amazon will turn up industrial drills bits and parts that cost $100 plus that are used to cut "normal" steels that's how strong this stuff is. Wells that's all fine and dandy that it has some of the best steel but means nothing without some consideration on other factors. First sharpening while not the best job I have ever seen (Japan is the undisputed champion in that regard) the blade is razor sharp from the box and sharpened very well 85% as well as a high end Japanese blade. The handle fits in the hand as it should and the grip with lack of bolster feels very nice and natural. The point of the blade is in perfect line with the handle and the balance is as good as a Mac ultimate. The weight of the knife is like a feather! Again the Sandvic steel comes to play with this. Overall after trying Shun, Messermeister, and Heckles I have finally found my bread knife. Overall the only complaint I can say is that it's not sharpened as well as the best in the world but is far superior to any others I have tried. ... show more

  • Swedish quality; a knife to show off!
Color: Black
Hard to find anything not made in the PRC so this was a great find. I have many of their excellent field knives so I knew the quality and reputation. Makes easy work of hard crust sourdough! Love it.

  • A bit too fancy for a bread knife, but part of the matches set
Color: Red
I got this knife to add to my collection of Mora kitchen knives. Any bread knife will do fine as long as it has serrations/teeth. It doesn’t even have to be sharp. This one, of course, comes from the factory so scary sharp you can just push straight down and cut even the softest fresh-baked bread! As with the other Mora 1891 Classic knives, this is a really well-made kitchen knife with a great handle and blade. Pretty too. ... show more

My kitchen is now top-notch! ... show more
