I bought this vise for a mini-milling machine. I have used it and found it to be well made and accurate enough for a home hobbyist like myself. It closes squarely and operates smoothly. Because I use this on a mini-mill space is critical I like the ability to remove the handle. This is a very minor issue, but I would recommend that you take a file to the top corners of the jaws as they were left sharp after grinding and are a knuckle skinner, this will not affect the function, but it will save your fingers. Very solid casting with nice grind on the surfaces. Wear gloves when unboxing as every edge needs deburring. I noticed a bit of binding on the clamping screw. I took it apart to find the outer races of a trust bearing but no actual bearing installed. It was a fairly standard size 17x30mm. I wish it cane with vise hold down clamps. I got this vise after having a bad experience with a KURT style chinese knockoff that cracked at the back of the casting.... So i decided when i get this one, i wasn't going to be gentle in testing to make sure it does what a vise does. Hold stuff Boy, does it do that, i reefed on it hard enough to indent 1" 1045 steel and it didn't care. The screw didn't bind up and backed off fairly easily to loosen the monstrous grip. My biggest gripe is that my milling machine has smaller t-slots and this only has hardware for a bridgeport style t-slots and i need a bit smaller. I fixed the vise to the table using Toe Clamps which seem to work out fine and for that i wish it had a full length 3 hole fixture to fix it to the table snuggly (i'll just build one). What i really like so far is that the casting is smooth and ground all the way around, so it would be REALLY hard for them to hide things like casting voids with automotive body filler. The ways the jaw slides on seem a bit soft, but the jaws are incredibly hard. Overall, it is a good product and if you need a vise that is acceptably accurate, but incredibly tough - this thing won't treat you wrong ... show more

This is a nice little vise for the money, but after I cut myself moving it, I noticed that nearly every edge on the thing was sharp, i.e., not eased at all (hence the 4 star rating). Where a ground edge meets a casting edge was particularly nasty. The vise is definitely worth buying, but be prepared to spend some time making it safe to handle. ... show more

I bought this to use as a second vise, when I need to clamp a work piece at an angle on the table or in my main vise for compound angles. Works ok, but I wouldn't want to rely on it as my main vise.     • Nice vice, but still pretty long for a mini-mill

Works well, but a lot of overhang when mounted perpendicular on a mini-mill. Raw metal so be ready to spray it down to protect from corrosion. I found the little feet were too thick for my mini-mill so had to cut them down. Very accurately made, better than most.

Only thing that wasn't to my liking is it has keys for Bridgeport size T-slots and NOT for the smaller 1/2 T slots on my G0704.
