Given all the high reviews, I was hopeful this shade would work out, but now that it’s installed I am just thrilled at how it turned out. MOOD is great bc they ordering samples was easy and fast and my husband and I picked the White Dough (Modern Wood Collection) from the samples even though I would NEVER have considered the white from looking at the pictures. ORDER SAMPLES, it’s worth the $5-10 for 1 or 2 packs to save color disappointment later!!! And anyway, the MOOD price for the shade is so reasonable, you’ll still have spent much less than with another seller even if you order a sample from every collection! I needed to order a large custom size (60”Wx72”H) and some other sellers would have charged $300, $400, even $600+!!!! For less than $140 this shade is awesome!!! It’s very well constructed, not sloppy. They include these little Velcro side tabs to make the valance “wrap” around the sides and cover the inner string workings if you’re outside mounting, which is a nice detail. Because my shade is so big, it is a little heavy to move up and down (def 2 hands required) but I’m really not anticipating it will get moved daily anyway, and I’d rather have the stringing be tight than loose and have it sag. As you can see from the pictures, this particular shade will provide NO NIGHTIME PRIVACY. Pay attention to whether you’re ordering a “privacy” or a “light filtering” style. I don’t care bc the curtains close for nightime privacy. This window in my husband’s office faces west, though, so the afternoon sun is glaring/hot/blinding and this shade will cut it down, while not turning the room into a complete cave. I did not use the hardware that came with the shade but it was nice hardware and I can tell it would have been simple to install (it’s an L-bracket with a built in bolt and wing nut, you would just screw the L-bracket to the wall/window frame, put the bolt part through the holes drilled in the top of the shade, and screw on the wing nut from underneath). If you’re interested, I installed it on the lower “sheers” bracket of a double traverse curtain rod by spray painting a $1.50 pine furring strip, some bolts, and some fender washers black to match the curtain rod. I drilled holes in the strip to match the curtain brackets and the shade mounting holes, and used the bolts, washers and some wing nuts to mount the shade to the furring strip and the strip to the curtain rod brackets. I’m ecstatic with how it looks for under $150 including the spray paint, extra hardware, and furring strip, because I really thought I was going to have to fork out at least $300 to get it made before I found MOOD! Recommend 20/10!!!! I think I’m going to order another big custom one (privacy style) for my laundry room now.

I wasn't sure for long time about what to choose for our bedroom window coverings. When I saw the clean and elegant roman shades from Mood Design, I was ready to buy. They operate smoothly and securely and really add a peaceful ambience to the room. I chose the white color, which is perfect for me, since I have both off-white and ivory in the room. (The shade is an organic material [bamboo], so the white isn't a stark white, but more of a "winter white" tone.) As you can see from the pics, the blinds are definitely "light filtering" not black-out or darkening. For our bedroom, this is perfect. In our bathroom however, I plan to add a liner for more privacy and likely even a "top down-bottom up" type of shade to keep more light in the room. Mood Design can accommodate both of these variations as well. They are easy to work with and after ordering, immediately send a confirming email as to the function, installation plan, color and size. They even ask if these windows are on the same wall to best match the natural color variation of the bamboo.

I'll be honest. I was nervous to order something custom like this from Amazon. I measured multiple times to be sure I had the right measurements. I had the item in my cart. I would move it to 'save for later' and then move it back, and then I finally pulled the trigger to order. I have idea what happened, but the wrong size was ordered - and not just a little wrong, hugely wrong. I emailed Mood just horrified and worried and they were so gracious and helpful. They issued a return pick-up for all the boxes and sent out the correct size quickly and issued a refund for the difference. The team were lovely to work with and after installing the blinds, they are just beautiful. I got the top down/bottom up in camel and just love them. They raise and lower easily and look fantatsic while providing the right level of privacy and amount of light. Highly recommend Mood.
