    • Shade too narrow (touches bulbs)
I didn't get why everyone said the shade was too small--I thought they meant too short. It's too narrow toward the top. The outer 3 bulbs touch the shade. I didn't actually want cool bulbs, but it's what the local drugstore had, and this turns out to be good given that they touch the shade. Other than that, I'm happy with the lamp. I was always complaining with all our lamps on that the room was still dim. Not anymore. Update 1/15/17: I didn't like the color the cool bulbs produced, and I found that Reveal has 60 watt half-size bulbs intended for fan light fixtures. They sit at least a full inch from the shade and give the room the nicer color I like. Much happier now! ... show more

I ordered 2 of these. Both arrived well-packed and in perfect condition. So easy to put together...no tools needed! When I first screwed in the middle bulb, I discovered that there was a silicone packet in the base, so just watch for that. When I was considering purchasing this lamp, I noticed 2 particular questions: 1) How do you switch on the lamp and 2) What type of bulb works in the 3 outer sockets. Answers (see photos): 1) The lamp has 2 switches. The switch for the middle bulb is higher and twists off and on. The switch for the 3 outer bulbs is below the upper switch and twists to turn on first 1 bulb, then 2, then all 3, then off. 2) I used LED bulbs and, while the base is standard (medium), the bulb itself seems bigger than a regular incandescent bulb. My plan is to use 1 of these in the middle socket, and candelabra-type bulbs with standard (medium) bases in the outer sockets, as soon as I can get some. I took a picture showing how regular-sized bulbs fit in the outer sockets because there was some concern over whether they would be too close to the shade. In my opinion, incandescent bulbs would be too close for safety, but LED bulbs (which don't get hot) should work fine. As seen in the picture, there is about ¼" between the bulb and the shade, provided the shade is centered. One other thing I will mention: 2 of my bulbs did not work when I first screwed them in. This was because the removable plastic tube that covers the outlet base was a bit too tall and my bulbs weren't able to screw in sufficiently enough to make contact. I was able to screw one in a little harder and it did come on, but I ended up having to slightly shave down the other with a utility knife before the bulb could connect.     • No candelabra bulbs needed! Bad description.
I wanted to get this review out quickly. I didn't want anybody else to waste their money on unnecessary bulbs for this lamp because the bulbs in the description will not fit this lamp. The description calls for candelabra bulbs that is incorrect. All four of the sockets are identical. The center socket is exactly the same as the three surrounding sockets. I bought bulbs for this lamp as per the description and not one of them could I use. The center socket has no additional room for today's modern CFL lightbulbs. I bought a 150 Watt CFL. That bulb measured 7 inches tall. No way would it fit. Any bulbs taller than 6 inches will not fit this lamp at least in the center socket and I would not put anything taller than a regular incandescent bulb in the side sockets because they will be too close to the shade. Smaller CFL's like 40 watt will work fine in the side sockets. Nice lamp bad description! Would have given it 5 stars if the description was correct. ... show more

Let's face it: when you buy any sort of home furnishings online, the ONE THING you don't want to happen is to wind up with something that screams "Junk!" If you have a room full of decent looking furniture, you want something that doesn't stand out in a negative way: "I needed a floor lamp, but the money ran out." A lot of lamps you might buy online have that look. You can relax with this lamp. Unless your room is furnished with museum grade furniture, this lamp will not degrade the overall impression people will have of the room. The antique brass finish is subdued---as is the off-white fabric shade. The two separate switches control the bulbs in a way that makes sense. The top bulb illuminates the ceiling well; the lower bulbs illuminate for reading, knitting, or conversing with friends. Even the Dowager Countess of Grantham would appreciate such a lamp-- and so would her housekeeping staff since it is not a dust collector. ... show more

    • Great Lamp and great Lighting
This is a great lamp. I spent a great deal of time shopping for floor lamps before finding this one. This by far, was the best value, gives the most light and is great looking of all the places and lamps, I shopped. Easily put together by just screwing together pieces. No tools necessary. It gives lots of light, with many options.Three way in the middle with a separate switch, plus three 60W around the lamp, which you can have one, two or all three lit. It is not flimsy, and nicely weighted at the base. Looks beautiful. For those that are complaining about the shade being too small. FOLLOW the directions.!!! They recommend three 60W candelabra bulbs, which are thinner (There is even a picture in the directions). Although, I am using regular 60W bulbs and they are fine, a little close to the shade, but fine. You can easily substitute cool bulbs as well. The shipping was great. Box arrived within a week, and very well packed. As a bonus these days, I got a follow up email from the vendor asking how my shopping experience was as well as if I was happy with my purchase.     • Nice Bright Lamp and Great Customer Service
I love this lamp. It's sturdy and give off a ton of light. That's exactly why I bought it - I needed the room to be bright. When my lamp arrived, the box had no damage. As I assembled it, I also noted no damage - until I got to the last piece. I took a picture and called their customer service department. She asked for the picture and showed it to her tech guy. He agreed that the entire lamp had to replaced due to the location of the damage. I received the new lamp within a few days and was not required to send them the damaged one. Thank goodness for that. I'd hate to try to get all the pieces back into the right places. Great customer service!! ... show more
