The media could not be loaded. MONODEAL delivers a great boombox in a small size suitable for a kitchen, bedroom or living room table; shelf,; picnic table; or any place you want to listen to (or even record) music. For a small unit, it offers a pretty big clear sound and plays CDs, cassettes, and AM and FM radio and can record CDs and radio. If you connect to a device via Bluetooth, you can play and/or RECORD to cassette. That means you can record to cassette from Spotify, You Tube or anything else from your connected cell phone, mp3 player, or TV (sound only). Of course you can also connect to Bluetooth headphones or ear buds to listen to your music, Connections for a USB flash drive, headphones, AUX input, and AC power cord are all included; and of course you can also listen to any music or speech from a USB drive or auxiliary device (or record from them!) The user manual is fairly good and will give you a fairly good description of connecting,, playing, and generally understanding the various features of the MONODEAL CD1016 boombox. SIZE and APPEARANCE The unit is small and fits just about anywhere. I found that it worked well on my kitchen table, but really I could see it being used anywhere in a house, office, RV, boat, etc. because it’s easily transported and lightweight. I really like that it’s compact yet has so many ways to play and record. The CD1016 looks great wherever you choose to keep it or take it. SOUND QUALITY The sound is clear at lower volumes and can play at a party at louder volumes. I played classical, jazz, country, hip hop, and rock music on it and all of them sounded really good especially considering it’s size and cost. Keep in mind you can also play it through any Bluetooth speakers if you want louder or better sound, but really it’s fine as it is for most people. Headphones or ear buds will sound great and not bother others. AM/FM RADIO FM radio sounds good with the built in telescoping antenna. I adjusted it after telescoping it and was able to pull many FM stations in when I sat close to a window, and more when I went outside. The same was true for AM radio which would come in handy for sports, talk shows, and some music stations as well. CD PLAYER CDs sound great as you’d expect and they easily pop in and play. I didn’t hear any motor or the spinning disc even when listening at low volumes. There is no equalizer or modes for various kinds of music, but all the types of music I played sounded great without modifying the sound. CASSETTE PLAYER After buying some blank cassettes from Amazon, I was able to test the playback and recording quality. Only Type I tapes work, so you’ll get acceptable quality but not ultimate quality. For most people the quality should be fine. It was noticeable that recorded music was slightly louder than the source when played back on the cassette. Many will find this to be a good thing, I was glad it was slightly louder. RECORDING TO CASSETTE TAPE I liked the idea that I could make a mix tape from all these sources. I haven’t used cassettes in years, but I had a blast recording a mixtape from sources I might not normally think of recording (e.g. TV commercials) and mixing with live music from YouTube. I recall waiting near the radio for the top ten countdown for that song I had to have and hoping the DJ didn’t talk during the song so I’d get a clean cassette recording of the song. The user manual included did okay job on many things, but not a very good job letting people know how to record to cassette. You can disregard the manual when it says a CD will play in its entirety and the cassette recording stops the tape reaches the end. In fact, you can record just the 3rd song on if you want. The following hopefully helps. For ALL cassette recording: (1.) insert a cassette tape (2.) press the pause button on the cassette buttons then push the record button (3.) queue up any song you want to record (4.) press the pause button to start recording then start the song To play the tape after desired recording is finished, slide the side button to OFF/TAPE position to hear the cassette recording BLUETOOTH I connected with my cell phone, the TV, my iPad, and sourced from YouTube and Spotify. The BT connection was easy to establish. I encountered no issues whatsoever in connecting , playing or recording to cassette using the Bluetooth connection.. USB DRIVE The USB was also easy to play or record to cassette. SUMMARY The MONODEAL CD1016 is a great multi-faceted player that provides great sound for a player of it’s size and price. The cassette recording is fun and allows you to make a mixtape or play DJ. The ability to connect a BT device and record from them or play them is very nice. I’d highly recommend this player/recorder boombox.

I shopped for a year on eBay to find an affordable (hence used) functioning CD boombox for language learning. Every one I got stopped working after a few months. So this unit does the trick. It’s small enough to be portable and does run on batteries if you want. You can also record to cassette tape (remember those?) and play from USB thumb drive or connect via Bluetooth to use the unit’s speakers. But you can’t record to CD or USB. Other con: the sound quality is functional but not stellar.

The media could not be loaded. I've been getting back into physical media lately, not only in movies but in audio as well, so I wanted something that could handle cassette tapes as well as CDs. This unit fit the price point I was looking for and it was compact enough that I could comfortably carry it around without it taking up too much space. It has: CD/Cassette/AM-FM/Aux/USB sources Bluetooth In (you can play from external sources like your phone or tablet) Although it's light, it feels like a sturdy enough unit. It takes 6 C batteries for portability or has an AC cord otherwise. The interface is easy and intuitive enough to figure out without the manual, although a decent one is included. The sound is clear and crisp and reasonably loud. There is some bass, but nothing earth-shattering. The FM signals pull in pretty well. I tested the aux function with my phone and this could be just the function of some phones being notoriously low in volume, but you may have to crank the volume up a bit on aux devices like that. Just remember to adjust the volume once you change it from aux to CD or FM. It does have a handle that recesses into the unit itself. You can record from AM/FM or CD to cassette tape if you'd like, although I wish it could record from cassette tape to USB. This feature was not listed in the manual, so as far as I know, you can't. Headphone use is limited to the corded variety as there is no Bluetooth out, unfortunately, but it sounded great on the ones I had. You can also buy a cheap little Bluetooth transmitter if you'd like. Even the cheaper ones I've tried work reasonably well. Overall, it's a solid unit that does what I wanted it to do, so I was happy with my purchase. It does it well at good price point, so that's all I needed.

The Monodeal Boombox is another one of their great products. I like its compact design because I can tuck it away in small inconspicuous area of any room. This machine can be used anywhere you need it for your listening needs. My favorite place is in my work shop. It’s been on 24- 7 since I received it. Another plus is the ability to take it out on the job because it also runs on C- batteries for total portability. With power outages on the national grid coming soon, you’ll be able to stay informed and entertained! The CD/Tape player are outstanding, and AM/FM radio has good reception. You can play music with the USB port and it has Bluetooth or AUX. jack as a bonus feature. It also has a headphone jack for private, non irritating listening for the kids!!! Monodeal has come through with all the features you could ask for in a compact, smart, user friendly boombox. I wouldn’t hesitate to purchase this well thought out machine.
