MONODEAL delivers a great boombox in a small suitable for a kitchen, bedroom or living room table; shelf,; picnic table; or any place you want to listen to (or even record) music. For a small unit, it offers a pretty big clear sound and plays CDs, cassettes, and AM and FM radio and can record CDs and radio. If you connect to a device via Bluetooth, you can play and/or RECORD to cassette. That means you can record to cassette from Spotify, You Tube or anything else from your connected cell phone, mp3 player, or TV (sound only). Of course you can also connect to Bluetooth headphones or ear buds to listen to your music, Connections for a USB flash drive, headphones, AUX input, and AC power cord are all included; and of course you can also listen to any music or speech from a USB drive or auxiliary device (or record from them!) The user manual is fairly good and will give you a fairly good description of connecting,, playing, and generally understanding the various features of the MONODEAL CD1016 boombox. SIZE and APPEARANCE The unit is small and fits just about anywhere. I found that it worked well on my kitchen table, but really I could see it being used anywhere in a house, office, RV, boat, etc. because it’s easily transported and lightweight. I really like that it’s compact yet has so many ways to play and record. The CD1016 looks great wherever you choose to keep it or take it. SOUND QUALITY The sound is clear at lower volumes and can play at a party at louder volumes. I played classical, jazz, country, hip hop, and rock music on it and all of them sounded really good especially considering it’s size and cost. Keep in mind you can also play it through any Bluetooth speakers if you want louder or better sound, but really it’s fine as it is for most people. Headphones or ear buds will sound great and not bother others. AM/FM RADIO FM radio sounds good with the built in telescoping antenna. I adjusted it after telescoping it and was able to pull many FM stations in when I sat close to a window, and more when I went outside. The same was true for AM radio which would come in handy for sports, talk shows, and some music stations as well. CD PLAYER CDs sound great as you’d expect and they easily pop in and play. I didn’t hear any motor or the spinning disc even when listening at low volumes. There is no equalizer or modes for various kinds of music, but all the types of music I played sounded great without modifying the sound. CASSETTE PLAYER After buying some blank cassettes from Amazon, I was able to test the playback and recording quality. Only Type I tapes work, so you’ll get acceptable quality but not ultimate quality. For most people the quality should be fine. It was noticeable that recorded music was slightly louder than the source when played back on the cassette. Many will find this to be a good thing, I was glad it was slightly louder. RECORDING TO CASSETTE TAPE I liked the idea that I could make a mix tape from all these sources. I haven’t used cassettes in years, but I had a blast recording a mixtape from sources I might not normally think of recording (e.g. TV commercials) and mixing with live music from YouTube. I recall waiting near the radio for the top ten countdown for that song I had to have and hoping the DJ didn’t talk during the song so I’d get a clean cassette recording of the song. The user manual included did okay job on many things, but not a very good job letting people know how to record to cassette. You can disregard the manual when it says a CD will play in its entirety and the cassette recording stops the tape reaches the end. In fact, you can record just the 3rd song on if you want. The following hopefully helps. For ALL cassette recording: (1.) insert a cassette tape (2.) press the pause button on the cassette buttons then push the record button (3.) queue up any song you want to record (4.) press the pause button to start recording then start the song To play the tape after desired recording is finished, slide the side button to OFF/TAPE position to hear the cassette recording BLUETOOTH I connected with my cell phone, the TV, my iPad, and sourced from YouTube and Spotify. The BT connection was easy to establish. I encountered no issues whatsoever in connecting , playing or recording to cassette using the Bluetooth connection.. USB DRIVE The USB was also easy to play or record to cassette. SUMMARY The MONODEAL CD1016 is a great multi-faceted player that provides great sound for a player of it’s size and price. The cassette recording is fun and allows you to make a mixtape or play DJ. The ability to connect a BT device and record from them or play them is very nice. I’d highly recommend this player/recorder boombox.

I love the Monodeal portable stereo compact disc player with cassette and AM/FM radio Boombox. Model MD1016. It is stylish and convenient and easy to carry. By using batteries, we can take it outside to listen to the ball game on the radio. The sound is very clear and not tinny. Plus, it has Bluetooth capability. The only fault I found with the CD player is, if you are an audio book listener, you cannot pause the CD in the book to mark where you left off to go back to your place.

The CD player is well-built and has a solid feel to it for its compact size. The radio receptions, from the stations I normally tuned in to, are received quite clearly. I particularly purchased this unit solely for the cassette tape player, which plays the tapes really well without any hissing sound. However, it would have been more awesome if the cassette player had been designed with auto-reverse features. Given my intention for purchasing this player to play cassettes, I consider the USB, Bluetooth and CD functions as added bonus features that I may use at some point. The CD compartment may be a bit awkward though, for someone with large hands, to remove the CD, as the compartment door could have been designed to open at a wider angle. Regardless, I give this player 5 out of 5 stars and think that the sound quality is pretty decent; and that the unit is a great value for the money.

This player is a total winner. I played a 40 year old tape and the sound is great. I played a 30 year old cd and the sound was the same. I didn't try the usb port, but I am sure it works well. I listen to podcasts on my cellphone and my speaker is adequate. I used the Bluetooth and sent the sound to the player and the sound was excellent. The player is compact in size, but full of functions. I highly recommend this player and feel it is a great value for the money. PS the radio works perfectly, but I would like if it had preset stations. My suggestion is just a suggestion to improve upon a great multi function player.

I really like this multi-functional cd/cassette boombox because I was able to listen to some cassette tapes I still have, play some cd's, listen to some music I had on my MP3 player, listen to my favorite FM station as well as pair my bluetooth device to play music all from this compact cd/cassette player. I found the direction manual easy to follow. This boombox is very compact, runs on 6 C batteries for outside use and comes with an electric cord to plug in for inside use. It has so many different features that is sure to meet the needs of so many tech people. The sound is not bad, however, I would have preferred a more crisper sound. Overall, I'm pleased with this boombox and would recommend.

I shopped for a year on eBay to find an affordable (hence used) functioning CD boombox for language learning. Every one I got stopped working after a few months. So this unit does the trick. It’s small enough to be portable and does run on batteries if you want. You can also record to cassette tape (remember those?) and play from USB thumb drive or connect via Bluetooth to use the unit’s speakers. But you can’t record to CD or USB. Other con: the sound quality is functional but not stellar.

This Boombox is an owesome product. I like its compct design and ease of use. CD/Tape-Recordable Player and FM/AM radio with a good reception. You can play music using an USB drive or via AUX jack. It also have a Headphone jack for private listening. The sound is great with the treble and bass well balance. It powered by AC or with 6 type C batteries when AC power not available. For Bluetooth connection, please follow intructions below. (See image) 1. Switch the physical button on the right to BT mode. 2. Long press the USB(Stop) button once, then, long press once again and the screen will displays BT, indicating that it is in Bluetooth mode. Turn on the Bluetooth of your mobile phone and look for "Boombox 1016". Click to pair and connect.
