I purchased this safe for the purpose of taking a firearm on the airplane with me when I travel. It works perfect. I can put my gun in the safe and then the safe in a checked bag or just check the safe on its own with no checked bags if I want to. It makes it easy and worry free and there are no problems or added complications with the airlines. As long as I follow the federal statutes and the airlines guidelines everything goes smooth. So make sure you read all of the laws if you choose to purchase this item to use in a similar manner. When I’m not traveling I keep it in my nightstand next to the bed with my home defense weapon in it for quick, silent, and easy access. We don’t have any small children around anymore but if I did I would be completely comfortable with the knowledge that this unit would keep any curious youngsters from being able to access my firearm without permission. It’s a great unit at a reasonable price. The access push button code and finger print access both work perfect. And I keep the keys in my big gun safe as a 3rd entry option. Oh. And as a side note, I have a desert eagle 50 AE that fits in it with room to spare. So it easily fits a very large handgun or you can fit two small ones in it (Glock 26, and Glock 42). I am not going to test it for obvious reasons but I’m confident that it would be extremely difficult to open this safe without the code or the key. So with that said, this unit would be a perfect addition to ANY household where you want or need quick, easy, silent access to a weapon but also having it totally secure from curious youngsters. ... show more

This thing is heavy duty and super nice and spacious. Easily fits my full size SAR9 SOCOM with threaded barrel and additional mags. Definitely worth the money and easy to setup! Very heavy too!

Great value for what you get and the quality Is impressive for the price point. Holds two Glock 19 sized handguns and some mags. Or could hold one handgun with boxes of ammo and mags.     • It works better than I thought that it would
The product is of good quality and is very study. I purchased it for a variety of reasons, including that it had a cable to secure it, and that it had a screw-anchoring ability that would allow it to be secured to the floor. I have only been using it for a couple of days, but here are my thoughts up to now: I had hoped to slide it under my bed out of sight, or under a nightstand, but it was too tall to be placed under the bed and too wide to go under the nightstand, so I placed it next to the nightstand. I am hoping that I could take this with me at times and put it under the seat in my truck, but I think that it will be too big. When I set it up, I first entered the time and want to note that you can only program it for a 24-hour format, not in an AM and PM format. The time does not stay on, it goes off after 5 seconds, so it cannot be used as a clock. I first programmed three five-digit codes and tested them, and they all functioned, and then I programmed the fingerprint reader. For some reason, after it read the fingerprint, it lost the three codes and I had to program it again. Surprisingly, the fingerprint reader works on the first attempt about 60% of the time. Sometimes it fails to read the fingerprint for a couple seconds, and then it reads it and opens. What I have decided to do is when I am home, the gun gets taken out of the safe, and when I leave, I put the gun back in the safe, that way the gun is accessible if needed, and I don't have to depend on the codes or the fingerprint to open it. I primarily purchased this to secure the gun when I am away from the house. Here are the two things that I feel should be noted: 1) The keypad goes dark after about five seconds after locking the safe. If you were to try to access the safe in a dark room, you will not be able to see the numbers or find the fingerprint reader. 2) If the entry of the code fails, or the fingerprint reader fails, sometimes the unit will not reset for about five seconds before it allows you to try to enter a new code. This could pose a problem in an emergency. Overall, I would recommend this to someone that wants a personal gun safe that holds two pistols and is portable. ... show more
