Never thought I'd write a review for a rug pad of all things. You can cheap out and buy the "mesh" type pads (the same stuff you use for drawer and shelf liners...). We've all done it because they are everywhere and cheap. RESIST. Those OTHER pads: don't add any softness/bounce to the rug; after a while they don't keep the rug in place; they bunch up and create a slip hazard; and, they are not good for rugs under a dining table. THESE pads are worth every penny. They make any rug feel more lux and a good pad will increase the life of the rug it sits under. They stay put, period. The 1/4" thickness is perfect under a dining table - no bunching. I have purchased three of these mats so far - two for 8x10 rugs. One I cut to fit for smaller rugs. I have recommended to friends who have in turn recommended to others. That's one test of a good product. ... show more

I purchased a beautiful rug from World Market, and I needed a pad underneath to give some extra softness underfoot! I looked at the typical rubber-type that you can purchase anywhere, but I wanted something with a more cushion as well as a non slip backing. This was PERFECT! It came folded, but the heaviness of it helped lt lie ver flat. I bought the 8x10 and cut it down to a 7x9. It was very easy to cut with my sharp sewing scissors. So, there I was, one year ago, picking out a cheapo rug from one of the big box stores for tools and home hardware and decor *ahem* for $99.00, with every intention of laying it down on top of the existing wall to wall carpeting in my bedroom. That didn't happen, however, and I just stored the rug instead. But a year later, we ripped out all of that old carpeting and installed hard wood flooring throughout the entire house, and who had a rug ready to go? This kid! But I knew I needed a rug pad, and I knew I needed a slightly thicker one due to the, uh, quality of the rug. Cheap rug, but good quality rug pad should even things out, right? I ordered this and it arrived right on time. I unwrapped both it and my rug to let them air out. I did have to trim the 8' side by close to a foot, but scissors did the job just fine--and I had people waiting on me since they wanted to set up my bed after the rug was laid, so I was cutting in a damn hurry boy no problems. Super easy to lay down, super cushy under the rug, and I'm super happy. The only reason for four stars instead of five: there was some serious off-gassing while it was airing out for a day before being laid down inside, as well as a bit afterward for a while. And lifting up the carpet now, two months later, I can still get a whiff of that smell.. though I honestly can't say I smell it with the rug down on top of it anymore. Overall, though? I'm super pleased with this rug pad and I'll definitely buy another one from this company next time I need one! ... show more

We bought the Mohawk rug pad because we put down Pergo laminate flooring in a remodeled room. Pergo is owned by Mohawk, and the Mohawk customer service representative that I spoke to claimed their rug pads were made to work with their flooring products. The reviews for the Mohawk rug pad are good, so I purchased their rug pad. We purchased a 12 x 15 LOLOI rug. The rug is about 1/4 thick and the rug pad is 1/4 thick. Thick enough for a cushioned feel on your feet. Many reviews said that it was difficult to trim the rug pad. I don’t think that is a bad thing—I don’t want to pay for a product that is flimsy! Many reviews said that it took them over an hour to cut through the pad. My husband was ready—He had a box cutter, Sharpie marker, and a strip of wood to use as a straight edge and a ‘cutting board’ . It took him about 10 minutes total to cut two sides of our rug. He cut in about 3 inches from the edge of the rug, so the rug would rest at an angle from the pad to the flooring, eliminating tripping at the edges. We are happy with the rug pad.     • Great price for a great rug pad
Style: 1/4 Inch Dual Surface Rug Pad Size: 10' x 14'
We bought a 10x14 rug to go in our living room, and knew we needed a really good pad. Not only to make it soft and comfortable to walk on, but to keep it from moving across the room. We have a laminate floor & while we have very heavy furniture to place on it, we didn't want it 'walking'. We put the grippy side down (as the laminate floor is very smooth) and and the rug placement was pretty easy. Took a little while for the rug pad to relax (folds from shipment) and also the rug rolls to settle down. We had to trim 7.5 inches from the long side, allowing at least 2-4" on all the sides so that there is a gradual increase in height so people don't trip & the pad can't be seen. My husband cut it using my quilt mat underneath the pad and his carpet cutter (with a new blade). The cutting was easy and gives a good finish. The rug is very comfy, is settling in nicely, and we placed our VERY heavy leather sofa (recliners on each end) and 2 other recliners across. A very heavy coffee table is near the sofa, further weighting down the rug & pad. Looks beautiful, and we're really glad we bought the 1/2" pad. This is a good price for a good product - I'm so glad we didn't go cheap and get something thinner as it really makes a difference! ... show more

I have a 2’ x 26’ hallway rug so I ordered two 2’ x 12’ mats. This matting is awesome. It makes the rug feel more plush and keeps it in place. I ordered the 1/4” thick and it is perfect. I just ordered two more for smaller throw rugs.
