I bought this coat because I plan to use it on a trip to Alaska in May. It is lightweight, water resistant and has a hood. Should pack easily. I bought it black Friday so the price was great. I went one size up so I would have enough room to layer under it. Great coat. I have a bigger one for winter, but like this one because it feels light weight, is lined and warm.     • Loved this coat but the zipper broke...

I had the same winter coat for a many years until it finally fell apart. After a lot of looking I purchased this coat last year and absolutely loved it. It seemed to be excellent quality and the XL fit me pretty well except for being a little tight at the bottom but once it was zipped up and pulled down over my hips it was never an issue. My keys did snag the stitching on one of the pockets causing it to easily become un stitched from the inside the first month but that was a fairly easy sewing job to repair it. Otherwise it kept me toasty warm and completely dry all of last winter, way better than any coat I have ever had and because it is such great quality that I expected it to last at least a few years. Unfortunately the zipper broke and now the teeth just separate when I am wearing it from the center so now I have this really great winter coat that is less than a year old that is basically useless because I can no longer zip it up. I always felt that the zipper was the weak link on this coat compared to the quality of the rest of it. The zipper seemed a bit cheap. And I did get a lot of use our of it as I was wearing the coat every day last season and putting it on at least 3 times a day to walk the dogs. So that definitely is a lot of zipping. Still, I did expect to get more than one season out of the coat. That said I loved it so much and the sale price is reasonable that I will be purchasing another one of the brand in a different style and hopefully have better luck with the zipper next time. This jacket is very well-made and warm. The inside has faux fur but is very soft and comfortable. The sleeves have Velcro around the bottom so you can adjust them as needed. The hood is removable and it fits very well and has toggles so that you can make it tighter. Very pleased with this jacket

This is a great jacket. I am most impressed with the quality workmanship and excellent fabric. I usually wear a medium, but based on other reviews I am glad I sized up to allow a fleece or sweater underneath. (For comparison, my old LL Bean coat is a size medium and the fit is similar in this size large jacket. I am 5 ft 4 in tall and weigh 133 lb.) I really like that this jacket is warm yet lightweight. This one is far lighter weight than a down jacket. I appreciate that there are four zippered pockets. The main zipper and pocket zippers of this jacket are smooth and work well. The only suggestions I have to improve this jacket would be adding knitted cuffs at the wrists to keep cold wind out and including a loop inside the neck of this coat to hang it on a hook. ... show more

Truly waterproof and breathable. For that alone, it's a great deal. It's also windproof and has waterproof zippers. Downsides: meh insulation - you won't want to wear this below 40F, and it has no hand warmer pockets (only the thin other nylon is between your hands and the cold; I've owned over a dozen name brand winter coats and every single one has had hand warmer pockets, but not this one), has no waist draw cord so the wind whips up your body from below. The hood is cozy and lined, and has left/right draw cords, but the cords sit right next to both your eyes making for blocked sight lines and danger of wind whipping them into your eyes. Zipper is quirky, sometimes snaggy and nearly impossible to zip, other times reasonably smooth. You get what you pay for in this. ... show more
